  1. Tell them to get to the vet today! Sorry but this just makes my blood boil! If there is only one or two pups labour might never start then they will all die! They obviously won't have done any proper care of a bitch in pup either. Or got supplies in. Bloody hell.
  2. might need to look to Europe for one. Try FB/google and see if there are any breed pages
  3. I keep coming back to these words what greater tribute can a dog have
  4. I think $1700 for 4 months boarding is a very good price. As long as they are not cutting corners and can deal with a Mal. Juice I think the OP means in 4 months time they will be in a position to have the dog with them but not currently.
  5. My crossbreed heinze 57 variety ran on the smell of an oily rag.
  6. Most Mumma dogs are happy to see the back of the little sh!ts I would advise not letting her off lead at all if you see dogs that may cause your dog to react in such a way. It is very rude behaviour and she will meet a dog who will not like it and react. She will also meet the dog that will get a big fright and be ruined by your dog. If she had a litter in May then they should have all been together for 6 - 8 weeks. Then it should have been another 2 months before she was desexed. I'm guessing you have not actually had her very long at all, if so, then yes her recall would not be 100% reliable yet. I'd be working on her recall and her general manners and not be waiting for her to flip other dogs over. If it looks like "That" type of dog is about to enter then you need to be proactive and leash her first. And you can't let her do it to some dogs, because they owners are ok with it, but not others. That's only confusing for her
  7. use a clip to attach the handle to a bar, makes it a lot harder to flip them. FWIW my first greyhound had tapes show up and he had been wormed 3 times! ( with an all wormer that covered tapes) forget what got rid of them but I did have to consult a vet.
  8. get in contact with breeders, not everyone advertises when they have an older dog available. Find one they are comfortable with and build a relationship and take it from there.
  9. I think the answer to your question is yes. You did say rather vigorous.
  10. I'm giving hemp oil capsules to 2 of my dogs, one for allergy reactions and the other because she dislocated her hip as a pup, she is nearly 2 now. I like them because they are a balance of omega 3, 6 and 9. I am also giving two of mine, the youngest with the iffy hip and the oldest, glucosamine and chondroitin powder in capsules. You buy these over the internet fairly easily. There are also natural pain relief meds you can give. If I recall rightly willow bark is one such item. Goggle would help you. Keep in mind your dog is maturing so what you think might be slowing down because of pain, might just be your dog finally growing up. Though you can see her and we can't. Needless to say keeping her lean will help.
  11. what I have always been led to believe as well. A top notch working bitch called Kelpie. Her pups were often called Kelpie's pups which became Kelpie
  12. how old is he? I've had one carsick dog ( as in throw up), and several queasy types. I found all improved as they got older. I also didn't feed before any planned trips. All mine loved the car as well.
  13. I feed supercoat/optimum/natures gift - all supermarket brand foods which I buy when on special. My dogs are fine. I don't go as low as woofbix or chum.
  14. If you are unsure then possibly best to take your dog to the vet. It may appear that there is no damage to the eye when there actually is. If you are confident the eye is fine then what you are doing is most likely ok.
  15. Hi @PANDI-GIRL. I'm currently feeding a mix of dry food and cooked chicken mince. Had a great pet food shop open up in town a few years ago so was feeding mainly raw minced chicken carcasses with some dry. With marrow bones weekly at least. I'm now cooking the mince since my youngest dog got very ill earlier this year. Turns out the raw chicken wasn't the problem but not game to go back to it. Still feeding raw marrow bones, goats necks and similar. Some they eat, some they don't https://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/271640-apr-now-unlikely-possible-meningitisencephalitis/?tab=comments#comment-6944426 I still don't believe the $100 plus bags of food are any better then the $50 bags. I buy supermarket type brands on the whole. Supercoat, Natures Gift dry, Natures Goodness etc. I buy grain free and grain included. I buy whats on special from both the supermarket and Budget pet supply on the web. All 3 dogs are doing very well, I had to cut them all back a bit recently as they were stacking on the weight. I've had people ask what supps I use to get such a shine on their coat. Answer is none.
  16. ok so a pan/bowl/tray of some sort that can be slid under a barrier, secured and then pulled back out when dog has finished? I like what JRG has done! ETA as I am still thinking What are the chances the dog would then resource guard the area he is fed in? Would he protect a cage setup like JRG? If you used a barrier across a doorway would the dog then protect that doorway/room? Why is putting the food outside on the ground no longer working? Is the dog now guarding the whole backyard?
  17. So no bowls. Ok so what is the dog fed? Just dry food? Hmmm
  18. so he needs to be contained prior to you preparing his food? I was thinking one of those timer food bowls put into a room, then the dog, then the timer will open the feeder. Wouldn't work if the dog needs to be locked up prior though as you would still have to get the food into the room. Otherwise dog in room, barrier across doorway but raised off the floor enough to slide bowl under.
  19. No idea really. For it to keep getting infected I would guess there is a minute opening somehow. Maybe part of a stitch? Might be time for a 2nd opinion.
  20. My dogs love it. Many reasons why your dog might appear to have an upset tummy. I say appear as you don't know. Smelly farts can happen at any food change as can upset tummy. What were you feeding previously? Did you mix some of the old food with the new? Some dogs need to be changed over slowly. I never do with mine but I never stick with one food anyway. You have some options. Mix old and new foods together, stick it out with the new food only, go back to the old food. But what I would do is grab a torch and go out with your dog so you can see what is really happening tummy wise.
  21. ask your breeder about your dog. I have a puppy buyer interstate from me ( dog is now nearly 2 ) who was and remains a picky eater and on the lean/skinny side. He is a carbon copy of his Mum! While the interstate person still wishes her dog would eat more and put on weight she also knows it might not happen for another couple of years yet if he continues in his Mother's footsteps.
