  1. still one bub there, busy preening, still has a little mohawk
  2. As someone who has Greyhounds and an inside cat and have fostered for GAP, quite a few years ago now when I had at least 3 cats, I'd be removing the dog asap. If she can't be easily distracted then I would never trust her with my cats. I don't give them any time, they either are, or they are not, cat tolerant. And it only takes a short time to see that. It's a highly stressful situation for you all, people, dog, cats and rabbits. And no way to live for anyone of you.
  3. I've got the odd squeaker floating around the house/yard
  4. Think they have both flown the coop. Sad but happy.
  5. I've watched them a lot today and yes saw one of them fly from one end to the other. Currently there is one asleep on the high box. 9.38pm Vic time
  6. so she has had 12 months of doing this behaviour? From 1 year to now at 2 years. I think you need a professional behaviourist so they can see your dog in action
  7. If they are registered with Tas Dogs, or whatever they are called, you can ring them and ask if they are current members. Does the ad not say who they are registered with?
  8. Agree, though I got right into the remedies and would make suggestions to my vet and we would discuss them and then decide. And any oils you use has to be the good stuff.
  9. My homeopathic vet made up remedies for me for one particular dog. It was many years ago. Each remedy is for a particular purpose and the 4 that most fitted the situation were mixed together.
  10. is this for out and about or at home or both? I have to say I never saw much improvement with adaptil sprays but a good friend swears by them. I have used homeopathic remedies with great success - not all but most. I was lucky, my vet was also a qualified homeopath. You could also look at essential oils, a drop or two added to his collar or a bandana. You need to do your research as what may work best and of course not use any that can be harmful.
  11. no need to have "many" accidents in the house. I always set the alarm for twice during the night to take the puppy to the toilet overnight. IE last wee break at 10 pm, then up again at 1, then 4 then normal rising time. And, rather quickly, start extending the times. 10 pm, then 2am, 5 am etc I use a crate at night in the same bedroom as me. If the pupwakes up before alarm time then they are taken out and alarm reset. By 12 weeks they are usually sleeping 8 hours at least a night. Much better then human babies! Your breeder might have something in their contract about desexing but IMO not before 12 months and after 18 months would be better. My house is basically puppy proof, clothes and shoes put away, food stuffs not left out, plenty of play time outside in the fresh air and in the crate when unsupervised. Ask your breeder!
  12. I know little about "hunting" dogs but from your list I'd go the Cocker every time. They can be kept in a short hair cut. But a quick brush through every night should keep them tangle free. The health problems you mention are not confined to the Cocker only. Dogs and kids, well both need training to live together happily. Your wife likes this one! poo pick up will be your job poo's don't have to be mine fields. I'd be joining a hunting group and asking for recommendations. There are working Cockers out there but I don't know where to find them either. Good luck. Can you help @The Spotted Devil
  13. You need to take your pup to a vet, as soon as possible.
  14. I'm not much help either except to say don't discount steroids. They saved my dogs life, she'd have been dead before the age of 2 otherwise. They are also relatively cheap and could help keep things under control while you find the food that best suits your dog. My dog was on massive doses but she has been weaned off them now after some months. I hope someone can come along soon to help you with some more in depth stuff. Have you tried a probiotic given with the food?
  15. currently one sleeping in the box at the opposite end. Sort of blinked and went woah in my head because the view had spun around
  16. it's hot this morning and they are all gasping, even the adult with them
  17. I saw the little one earlier getting stuck into the food so I'm not too worried at the moment. I think it's amazing they have got 3 to this stage and did expect the smallest to have died weeks ago. I'm cautiously optimistic about it's survival.
  18. The baby fluff is disappearing fast!
  19. What do you mean by soft food? I think Nature's Gift is an ok tinned food but no way would I be feeding a mastiff much of that. Is this a pup? If so did the breeder not give you a diet sheet? Such a large breed needs a very good diet. I'd be asking the breeder or other owners about diet.
  20. I only ever do 2 puppy shots. 8 and 12 weeks. C3. Then a booster approx 12 months later. I believe you can start titre testing after the puppy vacc's. Not sure what time frame though.
  21. but did they actually mate or just a bit of humping. Have heard of some toy breeds getting the job done before they are 8 months old but no idea if it was really true
  22. put him in your room in the crate. Set your alarm to take pup out over night to the toilet. (Assuming still using the fake grass) Cat will adjust.
  23. What breed/s? Entire or desexed? Ages? Going straight out to the yard through a gate or via a door from the house? More info would be helpful.
  24. It's been there for a few days. Maybe not fertile?
  25. Can you get a dog walker in at that time? A doggy door to a secure area? Feed less in the morning, just a token feed with main meal at night? Or try the reverse?
