Grover Is Really Sick - Another Change
Rebanne replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm glad Grover is better but just need to clear up that the c crate is not dane size Trish, it's one size down. -
I am going to get a bottle and try it out. It was amazing how it relieved this persons torment in seconds. Wish I had known about it when I had shingles!

One of my dogs gets a seasonal reaction to fast growing grass. This year I have managed it best by using an antihistamine and wiping witch hazel over and around and up her paws, pads and legs. I work in an aged care facility and one of the residents was being driven mad by a rash of unknown origin. This rash and itching has been ongoing for about 3 weeks now with all sorts of things being tried. Last night we literally bathed her in Mylanta and it was unbelivable how quickly it worked and when I left was still working 4 hrs later. Which got me thinking about whether Mylanta could be used on dogs safely, seeing as how they might lick it off. I was blown away at how completely the Mylanta worked. If I hadn't have seen it I wouldn't have believed it.

When Fern had her 2 pups she was a bit overwhelmed with them for the 1st 3 days so I put the pups, at night, in their own box, away from her and went to my bed, as soon as the pups made a noise I got up and put the pups on Fern, toileted them, put them back in the box and went back to bed. Mind you my bedroom is off the lounge room where they were so I could hear everything. Though the 1st night I did spend on the couch, right next to the whelping box. Once Fern totally accepted them I still slept, or laid, in the bed as I could hear everything, and was up multiple times overnight. Original plan was for Fern to have the pups in the spare room as it has a bed in there too but I thought that might stress Fern out too much being away from her usual place, the couch Fern's next litter will most likely be in the lounge room again and once the pups are a week or two and depending how many, the whelping area will include a couch for Fern

great news Trish. They could never really say what happened to Piper either and he had a very low temp and was put into a coma to help him through. They thought his brain might turn into mush but it didn't. Well not too much What is it with these big doofus dogs that get under our skin so completely -

Trish, when Piper was poisioned (to what - unknown) it took him weeks before he was fully recovered. And about 3 weeks before he even could walk normally. For the 1st 10 days he lent all over us as he walked outside to toilet and back again. Then he just wobbled. But he made a complete and full recovery and has barely had a sick day since ( 7 years ago ) -
Most are very dog orientated as they are usually kenneled with other dogs. Most do well staying at home while their people are at work. Again, reputable greyhound adoption places, match the dog to the people and lifestyle. Check out the greyhounds in the breed 101 forum

Greyt News! -
Snap, was about to say the very same thing. me too but they can carry old injuries and get arthritis which can happen to any breed of dog. If you really want a pup there are a couple of listings for greyhound pups at the moment but those GAP greys are pretty special

My repo vet said 61 days and when Fern didn't go by day 61 and I rang them they said not over day 63 from implant. Fern had a c-section on day 63.

Why Do Ethical Breeders Feel Bad About Making Money?
Rebanne replied to Ashanali's topic in Breeders Community
a profit is a profit big or small, no need to distinguish between them -
I have used parvac on my adults dogs a couple of times. And would use it agin if I feel the need. I don't vaccinate the pups until 8 weeks old when the vet does them, checks them out and issues a vacc certificate.

I reckon it's great if you make a profit on a litter. If you haven't cut any corners in any way, good luck to you. In most cases it will be put back into the dogs and even if it isn't, it's no one business but yours. -
I love the big girl!

what do you mean? Is it cancelled? What show are you talking about?

Hi Lab Rat I'm not sure where WA is in regards to the muzzle laws. Best to check with GAP. If you get a grey from GAP it will be house trained already. You just need to be mindful, as you would of any new dog, that you might not read the signals right etc but really they are so easy (99%). The age can be any age. In Vic they will take them from 8 months old so some don't even get to the track and some retire to the couch after stud duties. A friend of mine has a bitch that had had 3 litters. They are exceptional dogs

A kennel out under the pergola would be fine, a bed inside would be even better. The thing that jumps out at me is the height of the front fence and do you really think they would be outside with the greyhound every single time it was out in the front yard? Are they going to take it out the front every time for toileting or is the back yard also going to be used? What about walks? Greyhounds can and do live very happily in apartments so can live without a yard but it requires a big commitment from the owners. If the front yard is only going to be used once or twice a day for a romp, I would expect the owners would cope, my greys don't get a gallop every day. You would have to be very, very sure the owners are up to it. And if the fence is only 3 foot high then I would have serious doubts about letting a dog loose to do zoomies, it would be so easy for the dog to jump the fence and be off.

I asked at my local produce store and they won't carry it anymore. Between the 2 guys working there they had 6 dogs and not a single one would eat it. When I said I had heard nothing but good about it they said so had they but they didn't know of a single dog that would touch it.
