Thanks! I've got 2 for the greys, they have held up well but I have the K9 brand so were a bit more expensive. But they don't fit well in the car, only a couple of cm's too long. Ok if I am taking the trailer, with the others I can fit them in the car, folded up, and a couple of greys. Handy for visits to my daughters. I wasn't going to buy 2 new crates 2p's, just got carried away. Can never have too many crates. Up to 6 now for 2 dogs ;) The 7th is the largest and set up in my bedroom permanetly.

my greyhounds are about 77cms and 40 kilos for my biggest, the smallest is around 70 cms and 33 kilos and loooooong

Hmm, so if you had semen from 2 different dogs but from the same kennel, they should both have the same extender, so that problem is out of the way. But having to thaw out both, then find one is so much better than the other, means the poorer one, is most likely thrown out, or if used, a bit of a pointless exercise. Lots to think about. Fingers crossed it all works out for your girl

not everyone with a flash website is unscrupulous, lots of very fine breeders like having very nice websites. Nothing wrong with that. If I had the skills and the time mine would be a lot flashier ;)

Annie99, imo, it all comes back to the buyer doing their research, because there is no easy way to sort out the good from the bad. Both sellers and buyers alike can cheat and lie, both sellers and buyers alike can get bitten on the bum by the "ethics" of the other person. It cuts both ways. There are pages on websites, advising puppy buyers what to look for in a good ethical breeder, there are pages listing bad buyers and what names/emails they are known to use. I was caught, many, many years ago by buying from a registered person who turned out to be a backyard breeder, no fancy internet sites back then.

That's a good question. Referring people to the MDBA website seems like it should be a good resource to help people find good breeders, if all the member breeders are listed? wasn't going to reply to this but: I joined MDBA years ago, paid a fee etc. I have however not paid a renewal for the last 3 or 4 years, nor received a renewal notice. I do not consider my self a member yet they still seem to do so as I am still getting emails from both the MDBA and Pacers (and I have never been a member of them) when the topic, since deleted, about the new MDBA's registery in the news thread arose, I said I wouldn't be joining, Steve replied but I was already a member of the MDBA. I said the same as I am saying here. I have not rejoined for some years. Thread was deleted before I could find out if I am being counted or not. ;)

I do, do the right thing, I can sleep straight in bed at night. Can't control anyone that might have lied and cheated to gain entry to an organisations. All organisations have bad apples, fact of life. No way any one organisation can be 100% sure all their members are doing the right thing.

why the harrassment? why don't you build a website and pay for it and tell people what to look for in a good registered breeder if it means so much to you. stop yelling at me/us

I found the website, looks very good, but no mention on the muzzling laws or not letting them off lead in unfenced areas. In Vic they can't be let off lead in public places and that includes off lead dog parks. I mention this for the benefit of new greyhound owners in Vic. How long are your dogs kept in kennels on average? It's a bit of a hot topic at the moment :D

why not join forces with GAP or GSN? They always need foster carers as well. What does your group offer that they don't? Do you have a website? Why bring NSW dogs down? Not that they don't deserve a chance but there are lots of Victorian greyhounds waiting for that chance. If you are wondering at all the questions, you have posted in the greyhound breed thread which, IMO, is for newcomers to the breed to get a feel about greyhounds. Greyhounds get many a undeserved bad rap and as some groups do not know what they are doing the bad rap becomes deserved. Long time supporters of the breed, as I and Jensgreys are, have seen it happen, hence the questions. People have had bad experiences when adopting greyhounds from some people and in some circumstances. I sincerely hope, if you wish to stand alone, that you can stand alongside GAP and GSN, there is always room for another good greyhound adoption program to be in place.

well I was naughty and bought two of the other sort :D

have you at least let the breeder know? By all means if he is making your life and your son's life a misery, through no ones fault, rehome him but I think the breeder should be in the loop.

or this one http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Lightwe...1cm-p14757.htm# I like this sort, sure the dog has to duck a bit to get in but the height inside is worth it. Might have to buy one, my very 1st soft crate was this style, fits in the car easier than the other ones. ps weren't making funny of chewy, just the descriptions. I've seen 45 cm dog coats advertised as large :D

depends what quaility you want, supermarket and variety stores sometimes have bowls that you attach a 2 litre bottle too.

which Vic greyhound rescue? Greyhound rescue Vic & NSW which greyhound rescue in Victoria? GAP, GSN or ?

I just laughed when I read the description XXXL, I don't think so

sprung toe! that's it thanks OSoSwift, it's been bugging me

for me, yes, of course and of course their health tests. No good breeding to a dog, for example, with excellent hip and elbow scores if the rest of the family are off the scale. But it's not so easy to find out the family traits at times.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, plenty of greyhounds race with a dropped toe, not sure of the correct name either, gone blank! My first grey actually cut his foot and must have sliced a tendon or something cause one of his middle toes on his front foot suddenly stuck out a mile. It never stopped him doing what he wanted to do. Piper, my oldest boy, has shocking toes on both his back feet, all the outside toes are weird, he copes.

one out of four bitches, 3 spayed at 6 months, one at 3 years. The one who became incontinent was spayed at 6 months and incontinent at around 8 years after a UTI. Tried stilbosterol (sp?) tablets for a few weeks, had a break, incontinence came back, went on tablets again and ended up on one tablet twice a week for the rest of her life, nearly 3 years. eta the breeds, 3 GSD, one who became incontinent, all now deceased and one crossbreed who at nearly 14 is still going great guns

Nothing wrong with supercoat, all my dogs are doing wonderfully on it.

My whelping box doesn't have a floor in it and I put a foam dog mat on the floor, took up about half the box, with tarp over the whole area, then put the box on top, then newspaper, blankets etc. I figured my princess wouldn't thank me for making her lay on just a few layers of papers and a couple of blankets, pups or no pups to distract her
