  1. no because first and foremost they are dogs and not all dogs are suitable to be off leash and not muzzled. Greyhound owners should never lose sight of what their dogs were originally bred to do - hunt! But people being people there will be some who do the wrong thing no matter what the actual laws are. I am very pleased for the vast majority of responisble grey owners that they will soon be able to dispense with the muzzle.
  2. not wishing ill to the man but he is going to pass someday, so the vets will never hip and elbow xray again? How ridiculous. It shouldn't matter to a vet who reads your xrays, that's your problem not theirs.
  3. um because their owners are the ones that have replied?
  4. Whenever I have had my dogs vaccinated the most check up they ever got was a quick listen to their heart.
  5. Do you mind if I ask why? Because people were incredibly rude. One even made a snide comment in regard to the walking stick I was using at the time. I was quite upset at the time, but now OH and I have a giggle about it. And like I said, the interactions I've had with Astrid's breeder have been great. When people ask me about purebred dogs, as they often do knowing I have one, I never tell them to go to shows. Maybe people are too focused or busy but I certainly didn't find it a good place for a newbie. all or only some?
  6. Once my dogs have had their booster at around 15 months I tend not to vaccinate unless needed, ie boarding kennels. I have in the past given the dogs the odd parvo only shot.
  7. My greys like nothing better than ripping apart a soft toy, some of which have been shaped like a cat. This has not translated into ripping apart my cats and all are frequently left alone together. When the time comes for a new kitty or two to join the household I will just use common sense in introducing etc. Surely you don't let newly arrived fosters free range?
  8. totally disagree, comments about an organisation do not automatically include their members or employee's. I disaprove of a lot of things the RSPCA does but that does not include the vast majority of the people connected with them.
  9. from the photo's posted I think Slinky has much more greyhound in her then that roodog
  10. I am pleased to announce that Ovens Valley Canine Club has best neuter in groups sashes for all groups! link in my signature
  11. I don't see how I can be running a business when I might only have "goods" for sale every 2 or 3 years
  12. it means if they went through the "barrier", crossed the line, they endured the shock they got because they perceived the reward as worth it. Crossing the line (and getting another shock) to come home mightn't be so rewarding
  13. are they saying someone else took the puppy? that it was stolen? lost to me means it got out of the crate and is running around the airfield
  14. means nothing, plenty like to keep their "friends" under a certain number for instance.
  15. I thought it was 2 days after ovulation, cause my vet stressed 61 days is D day. And under no circumstances was I to allow her to go past 63 days. The books I have on the subject also say 61 days from insemination for frozen semen.
  16. At the 2009 Melb Royal there were 2 greyhound bitches in full standing heat shown. One of them was mine. I told the owners of the wolfies peering over the benches that Fern was in season. We rearranged the dogs so their boys were furtherest away from Fern, it wasn't very far but there was no trouble from any dog at any time during the very long day. The judge was told as well when we went in.
