I would just keep the fluid up to the pup. Is there a chemist you can get to to buy some saline and gear to do sub cut if you are comfortable doing that? Though if there's not a vet within cooee then most likely no chemists either. Otherwise it's cross your fingers and hope. Sorry I can't offer anymore then that.

my first thought was a beagle.

from the NSW breed club under ethics Recommended Breeding Practices a) In line with the breed standard, it is not recommended to breed from any dog exhibiting severe respiratory distress. b) X ray spines for major defects prior to breeding. Defects include hemi-vertebrae, kinks and distortions of the spine. Screening for long term stability of the spine. c) X ray for hip dysplasia prior to breeding. For breeding purposes spine and hip x rays should be taken when the dog is over 12 months of age. X rays should be submitted and scored under the French Bulldog scheme or by a nationally recognised scheme. For breeding purposes spine and hip x rays should be taken when the dog is over 12 months of age. d) X ray and screen puppies spines prior to sale. e) DNA test for hereditary cataracts.

What registry? Did the breeder know your future plans? What if she, the puppy, doesn't grow up to be suitable for breeding? Are you prepared to do all the health testing the breed requires?

Collie Nose (Discoid Lupus Erythematosus DLE)
Rebanne replied to Katie32's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The doxy and niacinamide are used by owners with SLO dogs which is also an auto immune disease. Most have a good reaction, the odd one can't tolerate them. Filtabac is very drying. Me, I'd be trying a course of cortisone. It is a very good drug if tolerated. It might be enough to enable you to get on top of things and let the other stuff do it's job more effectively. -
I haven't myself but there have been posts here about implant and how it can last much longer then thought and has also made a couple of dogs sterile. And also posts about full fertility after implant wears off. I haven't read anything about removal. The advice is to always get your dog collected before implanting if there is any possibility of them being used in a breeding program.

Reverse sneezing appearing after nose bleed
Rebanne replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
Um no. Fungal infections are different to bacterial infections and require different meds. -
health issues desexing a female dog later in life
Rebanne replied to lis84's topic in General Dog Discussion
Years ago, yes there was the thought that the more seasons a bitch had the higher the risk of mammary cancer. I do not know if that still holds. I've owned several bitches and only had one end up with a very small lump next to a nipple. It was removed but I opted not to send it off. Nowadays it seems more popular to let the bitch have at least one season, which does help with a heap of things including preventing spey incontinence. If the dog otherwise suits you I wouldn't let the fact she is yet to be speyed put you off getting her. -
Reverse sneezing appearing after nose bleed
Rebanne replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you think the antihistamine is working give it to him in the evening. Reverse sneezing is quite common in my breed though none of mine are currently doing it. One of my dogs did have a blood nose once to the point of dripping onto the floor. Blood mixed with mucous. Vet was concerned that it might be a fungal thing but after a course of antibiotics it went away never to reappear. It's possible you have two different things going on. Personally if the blood nose continues I'd ask the vet about treating for a fungal infection first. Scope would be next. -
I have to add I had a cat first that ended up with all teeth removed because of periodontal disease. 3 vet visits in just over 6 weeks with removal of teeth at each trip. Cat never looked back either. So when Sam had yet about bout I asked the vet about removing all his teeth.

Yes! My first Greyhound. Sam was so much happier and healthier. He still mouthed bones. Managed chicken necks well. Never a problem with his dry which I did moisten. My only regret was not doing it 3 years earlier.

Ok so just swap over to the food you want to feed and give your dog a little bit less in volume. If she drops weight then up it again. As I said I never look at the kcal and rarely even look at the amount to feed. When feeding dry food it's a standard two cups per dog unless I see a need to alter that amount. My dogs are a tad bigger then yours
-
I think you are over thinking! If your dogs are doing well on their current food and amounts why change? Why do you want to go to a higher fat food but feed less of it? Is your dog lacking something, do you think they would do better on a different diet? I've never fed by kcal. I feed by look and feel of each dog and adjust food if needed, up or down 1/2 cup or less or more of their raw. Sometimes they get more or less at a meal because I might have suitable left overs or I forgot to defrost some meat.

As a breeder I would not let your dog on my property, she would have to stay in the car. To handle the excitement when you get home, have one person go in and get the greeting out of the way, you could even take in some bedding the pup has been on, then after a few minutes put the dog on lead while the other person brings the pup in.
-
after she has had the pups, and only after, start on the calcium again. You could also give her chicken wings or necks every day after the pups are born. And watch her like a hawk.

Quality Dry Food for New Puppy
Rebanne replied to Indi The Lab's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As I said it's been linked to heart disease. It can kill an adult dog pretty quick. Why would you risk a growing pup. You need to Google grain free and heart problems -
Quality Dry Food for New Puppy
Rebanne replied to Indi The Lab's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
There have been some heart problems associated with some grain free foods. Golden Retrievers have been one breed that has reacted poorly to such a diet. Google could be your friend. I make sure to mix my food up, one bag of grain free, one with grains. And I believe it's not so much as being grain free but what they replace the grain with, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I've never heard of Wellness Core so can't help you out there except to say you could alternate between grain free and grain but personally I'd not feed grain free to such a young pup. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with your new family member even if Ruby does not approve -
And if you don't use AI, many breeds, and not just dogs, will become extinct.

Phoebe's had 2 injections of cytopoint this spring/summer. End of Sept and mid Jan and I think that will be it for this itchy season.
-
Mostly but as you are not a breeder I don't know why it is so important to you? It's never been important to me how my pups get here as long as it's safely. I've never had a pet buyer ask how the pup was conceived or born. Fellow breeders knew as I was always quite open with the journey.

Any thought? yeah plenty

Thanks Dusty.

I'm a bit confused ( easily done ) why was blood and fluids given if your pupper wasn't sick?
