  1. low costs does not automatically mean they are cutting corners or compromising the animals heatlh.
  2. I've had a few puppies that I've crate trained now. My bedroom is right off the loungeroom. I have a crate in my bedroom and when the pups are little, have another crate in the loungeroom, only a few feet apart. No way was I lugging a metal crate around the house. I would still use a proper metal crate over a Bunnings one for young dogs. Crates fold up and are easy to store in the shed.
  3. I think you might need to be there earlier , otherwise who is going to handle your first daughter ???????? Provided of course we actually get there ....... and get my feet wet? I don't think so if you do manage to get here I will consider handling Paige for you, wouldn't want her to think I don't love her anymore just cause I have new ones here
  4. my smallest were the quickest too. Fern no longer is feeding hers, she gave up a week ago and I gave up insisting 3 days ago
  5. which has no bearing at all on the subject. GAP greyhounds are not stuffed toys, they are still dogs and like a lot of dogs, some don't like possums, cats, birds etc.
  6. one would hope they would be actually received before next Sunday.
  7. me too A police dog is a serving member of the police force and such deserves every protection that a human officer would get. It doesn't bother me that a vicious dog has been killed. A dog that the owner knew was vicious hence his comments.
  8. how laughable, not everyone can get their mat delivery fee free. I'm sure some people get stuff from Dyzney as well without delivery costs. But a large % have to pay delivery for any goods they buy.
  9. yes I do and, all things being equal, don't mind if a puppy buyer has a preference.
  10. I made it clear that no-one, including me, will know what pup is going where until they are assessed at 8 weeks of age. All, including the show homes, have been fine with this. As much as it is killing us all to not know which one is "the one" we are all just sucking it up. :D There are 2 pet puppies and they are spoken for, and the new owners are thrilled to know which one is theirs, but I have 5 show homes waiting to see how the other 6 pups are shaping up. And there is no guarantee for show quality, only show potential.
  11. I've got a desexed champion sleeping on my couch because he is not good enough to breed on with. He's still my baby.
  12. the type of person who just has to tell the big bad dog breeders how nasty they are to all the poor newbies who venture in here and then don't like the answers they get cause they are given to them straight.
  13. So - where is YOUR advice. What advice do YOU think we should have supplied? Not being a breeder is no excuse, this person isn't either - what sort of advice would YOU be looking for if you were considering it? The advice offered is good advice - find out about the breed, find someone to mentor you and worry about the important stuff such as health temperament and conformation instead of the unimportant stuff such as colour. Obviously this wasn't the advice the OP wanted, but how is that OUR fault? It's not about the advice itself, it's about the tone and delivery. If you want to educate people and bring them around to your way of thinking - and subsequently grow your community, well a kind word or two wouldn't go astray. Where was the, "oh good on you for coming here first and not just breeding your dog to the first female you found like so many do?" that's been done before and then people like yourself still found fault with it. The answers were great and if the OP has a problem with them then they are not ready to breed at all. Breeding is not for the faint hearted. At least it's not if you do it properly.
  14. I have had several pups over the years, some were crate trained, some weren't. And no you aren't doing anything wrong by not using a crate. Your other dogs turned out ok didn't they? I just found everything was that bit easier with a crate. Adult dogs can be crate trained. Lot's of people put the crate away once the pup is quite trustworthy in the house.
  15. can't be bothered cutting and pasting bits and pieces but it should be noted the working with children's check, while it has your mug shot and name on it, does not have your address on it. And it's the one I will be using cause I am not handing over my passport details just to belong to a dog registry.
  16. you do know your dog can die from a reaction to a vaccine too, or be put down because of it? There is a risk both ways, it's up to the individual to make their own informed choice.
  17. where's the like button? excellent post.
  18. I also ordered a couple of car boot protectors to put on the floor for the pups worked well with the polar fleece blankie on top
  19. it's called making an informed choice. An informed choice..... what to let your animals die from Distemper, Hepatitis or Parvo should they be exposed to these diseases. That in my book is not an informed choice, that is just plain fool hardy. (Excluding medical reasons) or they can die from over vaccinating or live a life full of misery from the reactions some have when over vaccinated.
  20. ordered on the weekend and arrived here Tuesday morning
  21. That is the easiest way to put them up by yourself!!! I will be watching to see which company has the compact deluxe on sale in the next few months, I have a 3 x 3 Oztrail Deluxe and I love it, but when going away without the trailer it would be easier to have a smaller / shorter version. Thank you for posting this thread it has been interesting reading the responses. yes I will be watching for sales as well, no real hurry to get one.
  22. Hi Cavalblaze, your babies are beautiful! Do they nearly take your fingers off if you are silly enough to handfeed them mince? All going to plan re enough pups having show potential, I think I have one left still looking for a home.
