I was going to suggest this - but wouldn't rescue greys have issues with cats? not from an ethical rescue group who fosters their dogs before adopting them out

Yes at a recent show we heard someone question the committee as to the random assortment of judges they had picked and they quite blatantly told them that they picked them as they knew they would put their dogs up - and what do you know, all their dogs were picking up groups and classes in groups etc. I wish someone would point me in the direction of these judges, I'd like some fringies

Just last week I was talking to an older couple who had 2 young dogs, both around 9 months of age. First one was a spaniel x poodle, they liked the "breeder" they got him from so much they got a "pure" Cocker. I was very gentle and asked about papers and health testing. Well they had a lot of paperwork at home but nothing seemed to match the papers I described to them. They are already having health problems with them. I suggested they hop on the internet and look up the breed clubs and find out what dieseases their lovely dogs might be hiding from them. They proudly stated there was a 12 month health guarantee on the dogs, I pointed out that wasn't much help if the dogs went blind at 5 or 6. I said go back to the vet and get some DNA tests done after they had done some research. Problem was these people thought they had researched. They had never owned a dog before and just wanted a couple of nice, healthy companions. They got suckered in by a very professional looking web site. Luckily money won't be a problem for these dogs.

Good lord, I just emailed everyone and the first ones back with a reasonable fee etc were the ones I booked. There are only 3 of us that show at our club and we wouldn't know a facey judge if we fell over them. I'm sure I could have asked around but I reckon if I had asked 3 much more experienced people then me I would have got 3 different answers.

you know, I don't care. I go to have fun with my dogs and enjoy the company of my friends. It's a nice day out, a hobby, something has to keep me poor and it might as well be dogs

put your pup on lead and walk him up and down the stairs. You won't be able to carry him so he needs to learn how to use them safely. I would block the bottom access when he is out in the yard on his own so he can't run up and down them. I would put rugs on the floors.

what happened to your German Shepherd, the one with the floppy ears, that you had, and then broke up with your partner of 5 years?

If the vets didn't do a PennHip how could they correctly diagnose HD?

well I did, but I didn't know she was like that. so you are saying you bought her as an adult with these behaviours all ready ingrained but didn't know it or are you saying you aren't going to tell others what the dog is really like? a young immature dog, is just that, she has really high drive, its normal, but I cant deal with it right now and either can my neighbours should have thought about it a bit more then. Poor dog.

maybe you should consider training the puppy. Again, you were happy to sign the contract orginally.

Fan-bloody-tastic, I was worried with all the publicity they might have been done away with, but they weren't, so relieved.

need to know what she is fed, how often and when. That would be very helpful. Her last meal at night might need to be shifted forward or back. ETA have you changed her food or the times of meals?

but does she poo or just wee? Do you go with her or just put her out? What is she being fed? I'm with Christina re the crate. I would be setting the alarm to take her out in the middle of the night to try and stop this now before it becomes an ingrained habit.

I hear you Reb. Just hard to know where to end the radius. If the dogs have been stolen, and it really seems the most likely scenario to us, if the thief takes them to the vet, they will just lie about owning the dogs, and they will probably not even be scanned. Also, it is doubtful the girls would both be taken to the vet, and the vets will probably expect to see 2 Rotts. Honestly, the girls could be anywhere. I would send out flyers to every shelter/pound in the state, the dogs might get dumped with the publicity. I would still send them out to all the vets as well asking them to put them up on the notice boards. People will see them. Dogs might not get taken to the vets but if your next door neighbour suddenly has an adult female Rottie in their back yard it might make someone think. Also put in about them having tails, so many people would still be expecting to see a docked Rottie.
