  1. what about the entire dogs who escape because of accidents like a fence down because a tree fell on it, or a tradie who was careless with a gate/s etc? Why should those owners be penalised? Not all people who keep their pets entire are irresponsible, nor would all entire pets be in the above catergories.
  2. so where are your suggestions then to keep dogs and snakes safe? No good saying don't do this and don't do that without offering an alternative. As for ringing a snake catcher good luck trying to find one and then getting them to respond quickly
  3. so now we should not show in case there is something happening on the same ground days later, phfftt. Hahaha I agree Rebanne, sorry but that is a pathetic excuse blaming bitches being on the ground several days earlier! There is usually a bitch in season (or a dozen of them! ;)) at every show, so unless this happens at every single training session than it's not the smells that are the problem....... not to mention the public and their dogs traipsing all over the place
  4. be aware they will have the collars off each other in no time, so will be naked for a large amount of time. I bought breakaway collars several years ago but the dogs always got them off each other so I just left them collarless.

  6. yes, Dora only landed in Tassie at 6pm on Monday so it's been a big few days for her. She was a bit feral apparently first up in the ring but settled by the time grp came around and showed much better. :D I watched her today, and she was absolutely gorgeous in the ring, she had a ball, so happy... I think she thought everyone was there to look at her !!! The handler enjoyed a HUGE round of applause when she was awarded baby of breed, and Ive never seen him look so exhausted coming out of the ring ... I think she is going to keep them all on their toes thanks for the reply :D eta spelling
  7. It is quite easy to see why the dog world can never be united in any subject other than ones' own self interest when comments are made that show an obvious disregard for fellow exhibitors. I can only begin to imagine the uproar if I took my full in season bitch onto a ground being used for obedience etc. Apart from the obvious problems caused by both actions I would like to think that we would all show some consideration to fellow dog people. Then maybe Ive' been bought up wrong. so you make sure your male dog is toileted well away from the ring and other peoples belongings? Cause it annoys me when dogs piss all over everything. I showed my bitch in standing heat at the Melb Royal one year, told others near me that my bitch was in season, no problems. Showed my bitch in the early days of her season a couple of times, kept her locked up, toileted her away from everyone etc, wish some of the owners of male dogs were as considerate.
  8. Unfortunately people allow their dogs to urinate around the rings, soemtimes on other peoples gazebo's, chairs, trolleys, cars etc should this be allowed to continue?

  10. Brantarby Winter Festival Baby of Breed Hobart Royal :D
  11. give her her own tent then if she likes privacy, get a bunnings compost cage, cover the sides with a couple of layers of shadecloth and she has her own hidden toilet area.
  12. zip up the tent and take her outside on a lead
  13. pups don't need weekly worming until they are 12 weeks old, and after 12 weeks of age they only need worming every 3 months.
  14. Just to let you know ethical breeders do also advertise on the sites you quoted. I know because I am one of them. :D
  15. I haven't stepped foot in the obedience ring for quite a few years now but there was plenty of bitching going on there when I was competing.
  16. you can't claim for cruciate ligaments within the 1st 6 months unless you have forwarded a letter from your vet at the beginning stating your dog doen't have the problem when 1st insuring. This is with Medibank Private.
  17. no one has mentioned shift work, people work 24/7 these days in most industries, no more automatic weekends off. I have to book to get weekends off and was bold enough to request 3 out of 4 right now. Thank you Boss for giving them to me :D I love my showing, I go to shows expecting nothing but to have a good time. It is my hobby, my time out of a busy stressful life to just sit around with my dogs. I rarely take notice of who is judging, I take more notice of the weather, but I do like showing under internationals as they are more likely to have seen multiples of my breed. But it doesn't really matter. I haven't shown for most of this year due to breeding a litter, but the shows that I have been to, the other exhibitors I have sat near have all been nice, which is true for the majority, for all my short showing career, nearly 5 years now. Yes it costs a fortune in petrol, especially now I am towing a larger trailer, but it's just a cost I factor in. I would be quite well off if I didn't have dogs but life would be pretty boring then.
  18. well my next litter is most likely 6 to 8 years away :D
  19. a lot of what you want to know will be covered in the puppy forum, try doing a search there
  20. can I just send a donation? the club will get more out of it without having to pay fees for dogs who are not going to turn up.
  21. I have a large scoff stopper and it's huge and slowed down my greyhound a lot! It's the only bowl I have tried and am so happy with it and how it has worked, so no need to try other types.
  22. I'll have to go have a look see. I have a scoff stopper for Miller and it's brilliant but at those prices it can't help to have a spare or two. :D
