Do You Still Vaccinate An Old Dog?
Rebanne replied to Mum to Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
how can this parvo be any worse then any other time unless it is a new strain in which case the current vaccination would not be any good against it? -
No floor in my whelping box either, just lino and a couple of tarps from the $2 shop. ETA and a heap of newspaper under the vet bed. I used the rubber backed vet bed, also from Peperone, cheap postage Trisven!. I haven't had any of the green back so can't compare. I use my vet bed in the car and as mats in the house as well.

Have We Got Our Priorities Right?
Rebanne replied to Blonde_Phoenix's topic in General Dog Discussion
really? and you know this how? -
who would know what the dogs intentions were, I'd have hit it with a bloody big wrench as well. Bottom line is the dog has caused harm to a person ( a 12 month old! ), is obviously a habitual roamer and is owned by a moron and will pay with his life. One of the stories has the baby in a pram, makes it a bit harder for a dog to accidently scratch him.

I'm entering her at Cranbourne, whether we actually come or not will depend on the weather so we may meet sooner rather then later. :D Fern is being a bit of a princess but she'll get over it!
-
I feel your pain. With my new boy I am having to change my wardrobe to suit him.
-
sorry about the miscarriage but what happens to your puppy, if you get one, when you fall pregnant again? seeing as how you gave up the idea so quickly last time.
-
I thought you weren't getting a puppy cause you found out you were pregnant? And there are other ways to deal with a problem barker before whacking some sort of correction collar on it.

Fern joins the neuter club today, she has had her bits out and I pick her up at 5 tonight. Tomorrow the paperwork goes in, but only cause my membership is due

agree with Suzanne Clothier, not all dogs are born normal, physically or mentally

he's a lucky boy to have had you Leema! Karma will reward you well.

It's never too late to learn and all my dogs like to sleep in the crate, but seperately. It's not big enough for 2 greyhounds at a time

Do You Still Vaccinate An Old Dog?
Rebanne replied to Mum to Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
they get their 1st C3 booster at around 15 months, then maybe a parvo only vaccination twice more in the next 10 years. -
Give them a break, I really feel sorry for the general puppy-buying public sometimes with all these "unwritten rules" about purchasing a pedigree dog. The email was polite and concise... must say I agree with Miss B. Way better then some I have had.

Mine was in Vicdog, they are in there every month. to Sir Sniffalot, it was a hard blow to wear in the first place, to find out it was your mother must make it so much worse
-
wire crate or a "bunnings" cage to keep him confined to a small area with a tarp or lino underneath and bedding on top

Makeshift Doggy Diaper/nappy Thingameebob
Rebanne replied to HugUrPup's topic in General Dog Discussion
is this so she can be on the bed with your for a little bit each night? I think that's what you said in your other post. If it is for this reason I am not sure she would need any type of nappy on while you are awake and watching her. And now that the break has been made maybe it could confuse her even more to be let back on the bed. Maybe instead of the bed you could have quiet time on the lounge after the kids have gone to bed. If it is only stress that is causing her to wee in the wrong places then a routine that is sustainable for the long term, ie rest of the pregnancy and the breast feeding, might be the way to go. There are also proper doggy diapers you can buy very cheaply, I had a pair for when my bitch was in season but I have to confess I hated them on her, she looked so miserable so I chucked them in the back of the cupboard. :D Good luck with whatever you choose, not an easy time for either you or your girl. -
doesn't really matter what they do, they still had their prefix first, it's not their fault. I too would have and will complain if someone else gets a very similar prefix to mine in the future. But the blame will be fairly and squarely laid at the feet of the governing body who can't seem to get their act together and do their job properly. I knew someone nearly 20 years ago that complained about a prefix being issued that was nearly identical to theirs, nothing was done in their case.

OP means original poster and the posts might not have been valuable to you but might be of assistance to others. Lots of people might read this wanting to know the same thing: what is good to put on a minor cut on their dog.

Long Rant About A Scary Guy At An On Leash Oval
Rebanne replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
You were in the right, the moron was in the wrong. -
Maybe next time then leave the advice to people who have a better idea of what they are talking about ;) I admit I know humans, but not animal wound care they you shouldn't be offering advice on matters that you know very little about then should you? I'm only saying the above to diffuse a situation you keep trying to push on and on yet supply no links or facts to support your claim. You state i basically killed the dog yet in the thread about dog parks you yourself state "have hit or kicked at least 3 dogs that have come close enough" and not come to their owners call back. are you really worried about a bit of salt in a wound? you really need to learn how to quote exactly what I said instead of putting your own slant on things. Half of the above is stuff you have made up in your own mind. eta fixed a word up

Maybe next time then leave the advice to people who have a better idea of what they are talking about ;) I admit I know humans, but not animal wound care apologies if i offended folks, i'll stick to humans ;) i'm just glad noone lost a life (i'm still struggling to find any information that states too much salt is bad for a cut) ;) Well, this wen`t a bit sour. I like Minimiss mention of "Dad Vodka on dog", i think maybe drink it. After all though the whole post ended up in confusion so leave it there. I`ll seek advice from an expert. I agree. Have PM'd you ;) well I certainly hope it wasn't about how to treat a dog's wound cause it's been shown you have no idea. I have reported this post as an unprovoked attack Rebanne, how about you just put me on ignore and stop replying or stay out of my way please, that was uncalled for. go for it, I am trying to prevent potential damage being done by someone following your advice, you admit you know nothing about treating animal wounds.

only because someone who has since admitted they have no idea was posting advice on how to treat dogs. Ask a vet or vet nurse what bathing a dogs eyes in salty water can do to the dog's sight if they get it wrong.
