Clubs don't offer classes just for DOL point scores

I have had 2 litters in 2 and 1/2 years, next one is planned for about 6 to 8 years time. Guess I'll never qualify

Aplogogies I should have said some greyhounds not all. no need to apologise, greyhounds that guard are not common. Her son Miller also barks but, to me, he is following Fern's lead and if Fern wasn't there or didn't react Miller would most likely remain sound asleep.
-
Actually no one would get into my place without my greyhound bitch letting me know. Fern is a brilliant watch dog with a huge bark.

the ANKC standard here
-
so are you a dog trainer who works mostly in oversea's shelters or do you work here somewhere out west or both?
-
no shelter! that's such a basic thing to provide, buy your dog a kennel before he comes home and a couple of trampoline beds to place outside. If you have no shade at all rig up some shade cloth somewhere. Then before next winter build a mini pergola or the like over his kennel.

arne't you getting a large breed puppy? Sorry I don't understand the relucance to leave pups outside, pups need to explore, get a bit of sun on their back, think for themselves. I'd make sure the yard was escape proof and teach the pup from day one that it can stay outside on it's own.
-
Who cares why people don't want their dogs approached, as far as I am concerned I do the choosing, not some random walking down the street.
-
you haven't even got close to getting a pup yet, what if it's like the last time and before you commit to a pup you're pregnant again and there goes the whole getting a puppy idea. Maybe all your questions could wait until you are actually getting a puppy. We went through 20 questions last time.
-
maybe you should buy a good book

Are you only selling it to desexed pets or do you point out it is not safe for intact animals? I don't think it's that it's not safe, but more that they haven't tested the effects on fertility. so potenially not safe for any dog that may be bred from. So are your clients advised about this befoe buying it?
-
you're just spoilt for choice if you live in the country and didn't do the agi shows the number of shows you could actually go to would be halved. Long live the agi shows!

don't forget the OP is trying to get pregnant again as well,4 kids under say 5 and a possible newborn, bit different to your in-laws Jordan :D I sold 2 pups to one guy from my last litter but only after I put him through the hoop in regards to his ability to do the right thing by the pups. Still early days but I certainly don't regret it, neither does the guy or the 2 pups, all are doing well.

Does the owner of the dog you walk know you are allowing it off lead to do it's own thing? Your post shows how ignorant you are in so many things. In Vic my greyhounds are not allowed off lead, according to you they are automatically bad. I hope your insurance is up to date.
-
for starters : Do not treat pregnant, lactating or breeding animals so only good for desexed pets or entire ones if you are 100% sure they will never contribute to a litter I don't like anything that treats so many different things in one dose, way too much chemical for my liking. I only treat for fleas if there is a problem and would never worm my dog monthly.

why on earth was a thread so old brought up ?????? This started way back in 2002 and was last posted in in 2008. I thought old threads were locked

I don't know why you would lose track Congratulations

Those poor people and their dogs one of the dogs attacked is not expected to live and the man is still in hospital awaiting possible surgery

I agree, goldies are usually not that fearful as well so you may want to look into getting help with that. I would think that it would be fairly normal for puppies to be scared by off leash dogs approaching them. My dogs are well socialised, but off leash dogs approaching them still often make them nervous. particularly when being approached by an out of control dog.
-
not sure what you mean but they just go and lay down and go to sleep

normally twice but sometimes I skip a meal, like last night, meat wasn't thawed out so I decided they could have a fast.
