agree, they are not cute and cuddly nor are they popular. Add greyhound to staffy's and staghounds you get pig dogs. Someone had already asked to use him over their deerhounds If they were trying to on sell puppies for Christmas I can't see a half grown pup being a good choice. I would like to think he might have ended up as a pet but it would have been highly unlikely. Thankfully his Mum saved him from God knows what.

Why? if the council did their jobs and cracked down on the loose dogs it shouldn't matter if your dog was a DINO. If people followed the leash laws there is technically no need for a recall. There is no reason a DINO dog can't be out and about and be just a good a dog as one that is happy for every dog to get in it's face. Why should a DINO dog not be allowed to sit quietly at a cafe? Um. What does DINO stand for? Sorry, never heard that term. This has nothing to do with lose dogs. It's about creating off leash areas were dogs can safetly mingle knowing others are under control and of good temperament. Trust me, I am aginst introducing further restrictions on pet ownership. I was thinking more in terms of a rewards club, not new laws to govern old areas. DINOS, sorry I forgot the S, is Dogs In Need Of Space. You know the dogs that don't appreciate, for whatever reason other dogs in their face. Much like I don't appreciate another person standing toe to toe with me. So has everything to do with loose dogs and moronic owners that think it is cute to allow their dogs to run up to all and sundry. Off leash area's, oh yeah, have some here, same moronic owners still allow their dogs to invade other peoples/dogs space even though the signs clearly state must be under effective control. DINOS

It's not always easy to predict when your girl will come into season and then whelp. My last litter the bitch came into season a month early so any holidays booked would have been mucked up. Then I waited as long as I could before applying for holidays to make sure she was in whelp cause if she wasn't I would have bred her again the next season and I wouldn't have wanted to waste my holidays. An easy way to measure her is stand her next to something and mark the object at the height of her withers. It might be out a smidge but could give you a more accurate height then trying to measure a bouncy teenager. :D

What would be the restriction in this case? I'm talking about the creation of new venues not restrictions on old ones. the restrictions would be on good dogs and their owners who don't, for whatever reason, comply with the extra's needed to be granted these extra privledges. IE greyhounds are not allowed off lead in public in Victoria. Bit hard to train and then prove they have a good recall not to mention it would usually take them months and months longer then say a GSD to learn it. ( I have owned both breeds ) and yet the vast majority of greyhounds seem to be born sensible. I could take my nearly 6 month old pup up the street and he would be much better behaved then some of my Shepherd's would have been at the same age. Yet the Sheppie's would have had much more training. Many a time I had a greyhound up the street having a coffee and they just lay down on their blanket under the table with minimum of fuss. But I would no longer be able to do that under your proposal as I wouldn't have a piece of paper saying they were well behaved enough to do so. My friend and I educated many, many people in my country town over the past 10 years about greyhounds. Would have been a bit hard to do so if we hadn't had the dogs laying quietly at our feet.

must admit that was my thought too. I would prefer councils actually reinforced the laws they have now.

second vet opinion. 6 weeks of illness is too long.
-
a vaccination is a vaccination. Send the pup down and the new owner and their vet can work out what they want. Though I would be stressing the importance of getting pup out and about well before 16 weeks.

I'm a nurse who works permament night shift. You do the things you have to do if you really have the breed at heart.

One of the pups from my recent litter was stolen from his Mum's home in the early hours of this morning. Two teenage? boys broke into the backyard ( padlocked gate ) and then broke into the run ( padlocked gate ). Luckily his Mum ran them down and they dropped the dog and ran off. Carrying a struggling, nearly 6 month old, greyhound pup is not easy. Thank God. Mum and pup both ok, Mum very shaken. Police have been involved and it turns out there have been several dog/pups stolen recently from around the Yarrawonga area, couple of staffy's were taken and an attempt was made on a litter of stag hounds in a nearby country town. Be aware please. Police line was maybe they were stolen to be sold on as Christmas gifts, I'm afraid my thoughts are darker then that. fixed spelling!

my experience was the same. I made them narrower by cutting them in half lengthwise and then making them much shorter as well, no wrapping them around and around themselves.

Hope Coco heals quickly and then all will be well

they changed the parents names No, the breeder had two litters on the ground, they thought there wasn't a pup available from the parents Talien originally chose, so they offered her a pup from the other litter, at pick up they told her the pup was coming from the original parents as one had become available to her oh, thanks

I think you have to start the daily one straight away. Monthly kills for the previous month, daily is that day. It is a long time since I switched around a couple of times between monthly and daily but that's how I remember doing it. Daily starts the day after the monthly, the monthly can start a month after the last daily. They don't forward protect.

I use valuheart for my dogs, just does heartworm.

depends which state, in Vic breeders sign the back of the rego form and hand it over to the new owners, then it is up to them to transfer the dog

not always fool proof. I worked in a pound/shelter and we had one dog come in. I scanned it, no chip. 3 days later the owner sauntered in and went ballastic at me cause I hadn't rang her to tell her dog was in cause he's chipped you know. I scanned the dog again in front of her, no chip. She insisted there was a chip so nearly 10 minutes later we found it. Scanner was working fine, before and after this dog, no idea why finding that chip was so hard. At least the next time he came in I recognised him and didn't even bother scanning him, just rang his owner who was none to happy to come and get him again! Two of my dogs chips have moved. One after 4 years has migrated, the other was only in a couple of week before it moved, very disappointing when they were supposed to be fixed years ago to stop the movement. And yes, the amount of owners who had no idea what their dog actually looked like when asked to describe it

It would be normal for all monies to be paid in full before the puppy would be sent to you. It is not normal for all contact to cease once a deposit is received. Though they may have had a problem with their phone line, that is possible, but unlikely. How long have they been out of reach for?

Thats because greyhounds are royalty :D
