  1. so while the agreement has been in place no one has had to join an ANKC state body and even if they did they didn't have to apply to the state body for their title? they just had to join and apply to the AFA? definitely not! If you only want the AFA title, just be a member of the AFA. If you want the ANKC title you had to join the ANKC and sign up your dog on whatever register was relevant and you also had to actually be a member at the time you were acquiring the points. I only joined the ANKC when I started doing agility. I could not go back and claim all the flyball titles my dogs had gotten prior to that date. so are the titles different then?

  3. I am lucky in that my greys haven't suffered from happy tail but from my reading, once they do get it, it's a never ending battle until the tail is docked quite short. As Bisart Dobes says, they often keep injuring it until the tail is docked quite short. I have read of multiple surgery being done on greyhounds. It has been advised to go up two or three vertebrea to get the best result, not just to the nearest healthiest one. I think I would persist with finding a way to keep the tail intact and if that means taping, protecting for months rather then weeks, I would be giving that a go first. Or dock it short and realise the dog's show career is over. Also when I say my dogs haven't been affected, my bitch did open her tail tip up once, I taped a toilet roll tube onto it and that was it. Not a true happy tail at all thankfully.
  4. But you cannot expect a title gained under an unafilliated body to be recognised on the pedigree. That is the pitfall of participating in an activity that is not offically sanctioned. Much like one of my dogs CGC 'title'.
  5. .......................... you are not worth it
  6. You can still get titles, they just won't be recognised by the ANKC. Much like some of the "flavours" of agility, they are not recognised by the ANKC.
  7. Yes this is true, which is what im weighing up at the moment, thoeretically the judge should not take the tail into account considering he was born with a perfectly normal tail and it's only due to medical reasons that it needs to be taken back..... I dont know, this sucks big time. the tail won't taper, it will most likely be blunt. No way around it, you would be showing a docked dog in a breed that has never been docked. And if everything else was equal a judge will go for the dog with the correct tail IMO. it's a real bummer for you. Any way you can think of that Gus could wear something on the tail for most of the time? A hair roller taped on?
  8. have not long spoken to them Capanash they sound great
  9. one is a caravan park and one is an apartment, I was wanting somewhere with a well fenced secure yard. Am checking out places like stayz but thought someone might actually be able to recommend a place rather then having to rely on a web site.
  10. give it up will you, your posts are offensive.
  11. totally agree. Talk about kicking someone while they are down m-sass.
  12. I think it could affect him quite badly. Even if you have a letter from the vet stating why his tail is docked.
  13. looking for some dog friendly accommodation in Mt Gambier. Dogs don't have to be allowed inside but must have well fenced secure yard. Thinking of a little holiday in combination with some shows. :D
  14. any recomendations please? Only want 2 nights, one day. Hoping to go to some shows and while I'm over there I thought I'd have a day of sightseeing afterwards, but I need somewhere to park the dogs safely.
  15. maybe she was worried the other dogs might get off their leads and rush hers? What a mountain out of a molehill this is. Dog was in yard, made no attempt to leave yard, all it did was bark and do zoomies. The OP's dogs also barked. So what.
  16. yes and bowing to the pressure put onto them by the owners of these dogs. I understand a lot of money might have been paid for the original misbred dogs and their progeny by unsuspecting owners but I would be mortified if one of my greys turned out to be a cross something or other and whilst I might not have been able to afford to replace them straight away I would never breed from them. I would just suck it up for the sake of the breed. It could have been stopped in it's tracks when it first was found out about if the VCA had had the balls to do so.
  17. It's about some litters of wolfhounds being sired by unregistered dogs or even cross breeds a few years ago and people falsifying the papers. Dogs were killed. At least one person went to jail. ( I think this is how it went, memory bit shaky ). Now the VCA wants the dogs to keep the pedigrees but where it has been proven the sire/s are these ring ins they want people to still be able to breed and sell puppies from these lines as purebreds but with a blank space in place of the sires name.
  18. have you tried adding something like Thrive D in case it's malabsorption?
  19. oh yeah, agree totally. Been there and done that
  20. It's not just the vets, it's the staff that assist them as well. I know, I did it for years, it's soul destroying.
  21. Congratulations Skeeter looks amazing and I love the name too
  22. Treat it like any other obedience problem. You ask for a stand with Gus being still, you increase the time he can hold the stand, they you add in variables like people walking past him , then touching his head etc. Stop worrying about this weekend, the dog is not going to be perfect and in the the shadow of something new may very well hold still for long enough for the judge to go over him. But you are putting too much pressure on yourself and your dog. This is supposed to be fun. If you really think the dog will throw himself onto his back in the middle of the ring then maybe think about not showing him but still go and practise outside the ring. ETA I would most likely still show him but that's just me.
  23. Take her outside and stay with her until she has gone, then reward.
