I've had a tail chaser, amongst other things, PTS at 19 months old for a whole host of behavioural issues. Definitely an OCD dog.
-
I haven't read the rules regarding the title, but would a dog be able to get a neuter challenge and still qualify? the neuter title is a different title so I would guess not.
-
what suits one dog won't suit another, doesn't matter what the brand or the price tag' dog food is not a one size fits all. If it was, feeding a dog would be oh so easy, they would all maintain perfect weight, skin condition, mental health etc on the one food and people wouldn't have to even think about it.

yes some people are really, really good at scamming. There is a often a price difference because of imported lines being used, cause c-sections are needed etc. To import semen can cost thousands and it's even more to import a live dog. I don't have a problem with rescue charging a realistic price for their dogs, the dogs are worth it. But a $300 difference, well I suppose that fits in with the breeders who charge more for show "potential" then for pets. And it's not only a $300 difference in some cases. No doubt I will get flamed for those comment's  but it is straying away from the OP's original comment.

some people are very good liars and try as you might some people do get past, for both rescue and breeders alike.

I know of some fantastic rescue orgs who put a higher price on some sought after breeds and puppies so that they are not "on sold", I agree with this. aren't the mutts just as valuable? I get where the OP is coming from. Yes of course they are, though there are some particular breeds who are at risk of being onsold for profit. Increasing the adoption fee often avoids that happening. ETA Particularly as they are desexed prior to rehome, breeding is not possible. I would have thought vetting the new homes would help with that? and as you say they are, or should be, desexed. Anyone trying to buy a purebred on the cheap from rescue to on sell wouldn't be interested in a desexed dog anyway.

I don't think the OP was saying rescue dogs should be cheaper. They were confused about the large price difference's

It had to be AFTER the first. which is a bit silly Well apparently that wasn't the case in Qld - The rule states 'from' and they accepted the title app. Personally I don't care at all and am sick of all the fuss about it. If you want this title on your dog and your dog qualify's congrats but . and the name calling etc that has been going on, really showcases the dog world at it's worst. It doesn't matter who was first
-
I think that it doesn't really matter as there would be many dogs who would have met the criteria that can not get that one CC that is needed. Great dogs are great dogs no matter what letters they may or may not have before ( or after ) their name.

Ankc No Longer Recognising Flyball Titles
Rebanne replied to Jumabaar's topic in General Dog Discussion
so while the agreement has been in place no one has had to join an ANKC state body and even if they did they didn't have to apply to the state body for their title? they just had to join and apply to the AFA? definitely not! If you only want the AFA title, just be a member of the AFA. If you want the ANKC title you had to join the ANKC and sign up your dog on whatever register was relevant and you also had to actually be a member at the time you were acquiring the points. I only joined the ANKC when I started doing agility. I could not go back and claim all the flyball titles my dogs had gotten prior to that date. so are the titles different then? -

I am lucky in that my greys haven't suffered from happy tail but from my reading, once they do get it, it's a never ending battle until the tail is docked quite short. As Bisart Dobes says, they often keep injuring it until the tail is docked quite short. I have read of multiple surgery being done on greyhounds. It has been advised to go up two or three vertebrea to get the best result, not just to the nearest healthiest one. I think I would persist with finding a way to keep the tail intact and if that means taping, protecting for months rather then weeks, I would be giving that a go first. Or dock it short and realise the dog's show career is over. Also when I say my dogs haven't been affected, my bitch did open her tail tip up once, I taped a toilet roll tube onto it and that was it. Not a true happy tail at all thankfully.

Ankc No Longer Recognising Flyball Titles

But you cannot expect a title gained under an unafilliated body to be recognised on the pedigree. That is the pitfall of participating in an activity that is not offically sanctioned. Much like one of my dogs CGC 'title'. -
.......................... you are not worth it

Ankc No Longer Recognising Flyball Titles

You can still get titles, they just won't be recognised by the ANKC. Much like some of the "flavours" of agility, they are not recognised by the ANKC. -
Yes this is true, which is what im weighing up at the moment, thoeretically the judge should not take the tail into account considering he was born with a perfectly normal tail and it's only due to medical reasons that it needs to be taken back..... I dont know, this sucks big time. the tail won't taper, it will most likely be blunt. No way around it, you would be showing a docked dog in a breed that has never been docked. And if everything else was equal a judge will go for the dog with the correct tail IMO. it's a real bummer for you. Any way you can think of that Gus could wear something on the tail for most of the time? A hair roller taped on?

one is a caravan park and one is an apartment, I was wanting somewhere with a well fenced secure yard. Am checking out places like stayz but thought someone might actually be able to recommend a place rather then having to rely on a web site.

give it up will you, your posts are offensive.

totally agree. Talk about kicking someone while they are down m-sass.
-
I think it could affect him quite badly. Even if you have a letter from the vet stating why his tail is docked.

looking for some dog friendly accommodation in Mt Gambier. Dogs don't have to be allowed inside but must have well fenced secure yard. Thinking of a little holiday in combination with some shows. :D
-
any recomendations please? Only want 2 nights, one day. Hoping to go to some shows and while I'm over there I thought I'd have a day of sightseeing afterwards, but I need somewhere to park the dogs safely.
