  1. Buddy was 14 how long did they think he could stand there? OMG the horror of it all, Caz, once again I am so, so sorry.
  2. It wasn't a comment it was a question as it has been shown time and time again that these types of threads are usually started by someone who has been beaten by, in their eyes, a vastly inferior dog. One could probably say those with one dog entry breeds don't really have the experience to comment on the subject.
  3. Dilute Domino? There is an afghan colouring known as Domino. Genetically her colour is called Sable. But different breeds have different local names for the same genetic colours. Sable in Borzoi may be called Black Fringed Red in Salukis, and Red in greyhounds (although clear red is a different gene). Most fawn greyhounds are genetic Red - they lack the black overlay that comes with Sable. Lilli - the colour you refer to is most likely Agouti. yes I think that is it. Genetics is so very interesting!

  5. but some of these these things can be only in the eye of the beholder. Someone else may look at the dog and love the bone in that dog. If the sum of the dog is greater, in the judges opinion, then the minus (i.e. light eyes) then of course they will put them up. Sour grapes fixer?
  6. I have only ever asked a handful of judges for a critique and it has always been with the current litter I bred. All have been happy to oblige and I make it clear I had bred all the dogs they had judged :D The chance to show under a judge who has actually bred and shown greyhounds is too rare not to pick their brains. Not sure I would ask if I was in a more popular breed and up against others.
  7. Officially she is a red fawn. An afghan person told me once they would consider her a dilute diablo? Dilute something. Has a lot of black hairs through her coat, think in pugs that means smutty  Has had 12 pups to 2 sires. 3 brindle, 4 white & brindle, 2 blue brindle, 1 white & blue brindle and 2 white & blue fawn. Licorice allsorts for sure
  8. Fern at 12 months, her black has faded now at the age of 6.
  9. Red greyhounds can have that widows peak too, Fern had it. Yep a real cutie.
  10. Sometimes GAP has people wanting a pup, while they can't get involved because of his age they have, in the past, put people in touch and then it's up to both parties to be satisfied with each other. So try them and maybe GSN are the same, doesn't hurt to ask.
  11. and why not, Vallimont is a lovely dog! Congratulations

  14. Oh dear funny how that is the same quote that was psoted on Greylvr's facebook page.
  15. would this be the dog who you crate "trained" by leaving it outside in a crate screaming the neighbourhood down? How could week old puppies be running around eating mouse bait and why did you leave it down where dogs and puppies could reach it? Do everyone a favour and stop dispensing your unsound advice, you clearly have no idea.
  16. Try her with a lamb flap but trim the fat to begin with or add a dash of oil to her food to increase the fat content.
  17. because he can? I never leave food out on bench tops etc but I do leave the cat's food on top of the small freezer, the dogs could actually get it if they tried. My guess is he tried it once and got something yummy so he keeps trying and keeps getting rewarded. Maybe he feels hungry, could you add vegies to his meals to keep him full longer? But you will have to put temptation out of the way.
  18. Show bred greyhounds are a rare breed in this country. They are my breed and they are not bred very often. 2011 there were 12 born, 2012 none. but why is this? Is it because most people see Greys as racing dogs and aren't interested in them as a pet? no idea really. Adults are popular, hence the success for GAP etc. When I first got into greys there were a lot of stories around about how grey puppies were the puppies from hell. These usually came from people who had never had a puppy of any breed and often the only dog experience was with nice calm adult greys. I've never had any trouble with any grey puppy. The worst were a pair of 6 month olds that I fostered straight from a rearing establishment. They only saw people when they got fed basically. They were pitiful in how they craved human company. Wore quite a few scratches but they soon settled down. Were great young dogs when they left here.
