  1. then start a thread elsewhere and take your whining there
  2. :D Shantiah and Paige looked like a pair of drowned rats but hey winners are grinners  it was a lovely excited phone call I received.
  3. My greyhounds. After a couple of days I am sure they would forget all about being nice to small creatures and catch something and we would huddle together at night for warmth.
  4. That wasn't at Knox was it? 1999? My first was in awful weather but I went back the next year and the weather was much kinder :D
  5. so sorry to read this. You fought a good fight Charlie, rest easy mate
  6. Lots of people camp there and they are very close to the rings. Excellent toilet and shower facilities. I've never camped there but show there every year.
  7. Never had a dog or a cat interested in their stitches enough to need a collar.
  8. nothing shows up in any of the xrays yes I get what you mean but I am not sure what was causing the problem. Xrays will be reviewed in 3 weeks time when I get to another spinal vet. Fern's hips were scored at 14 monthss old and were excellent and except for the odd leg placement there is nothing showing up in any xray
  9. would that not show up in the spine xrays?
  10. Been having a few back issues with Fern, my greyhound bitch, long story but it was requested to have hip xrays done as the chiro/acunpuncture vet felt the pain was more in her hip. So toddle off to my regular vet to get the xrays done. Same vet who did Fern's hips for scoring some years ago, a vet who does a lot of xrays for scoring. Try as she might the vet cannot get Fern's hind legs into the right position. One in particular was bad, is out on an angle. There are no signs of degeneration in the hip xrays or the full spinal ones I also got done. Part of the long story is we are no longer seeing 1st chiro vet as when I asked him today was he interested in treating small animals his answer was no, not really. So Fern and her xrays were not seen today. Being a nervous Mum I am worried why a vet could not manipulate the legs into the right position under a full GA. I was hoping to discuss this today but I don't let people/vets I don't trust treat my dogs and I no longer trust him. I can not Fern into anywhere else until March 20th. The vet who took the xrays was stumped with why she had so much trouble. I, of course, have all worst case scernarios running through my head and was wondering if anyone else's dog has ever been hard to position for xrays while under a full GA?
  11. While I agree this is an awful photo of a very nice bitch I fail to see any clipping. My bitch has that line of hair down her neck and believe me she is not clipped or stripped to make it. I think that a lot of the "strangeness" that people are seeing in the greyhound is simply the difference between show & race lines. I didn't think she looked odd in the picture??? it's not a pic I would put up with pride No of course not BUT IMO you could see that it was the angle of the picture that was the problem NOT the dog if that makes sense? yes I could, but if you are not familiar you would just think strange looking dog :D

  13. While I agree this is an awful photo of a very nice bitch I fail to see any clipping. My bitch has that line of hair down her neck and believe me she is not clipped or stripped to make it. I didn't mean the line where the coat naturally turns, I meant the light area behind/above that line. It looks to me like it's had clippers & thinning shears very cleverly worked over it. I might be wrong but that's what it looked like to me . I have been there first hand and seen the amount of hair that those pro handler/groomers can get off even from a smooth dog! Her neck looks the same as my red bitch and I don't clip or strip her :D
  14. I've seen BOB and challenge handed hout. But I'm just wondering why, if the club is obliged to have ribbons for the classes, they don't hand those out ring side? I would have just thought if they weren't going to be handed out what is the point of the club having to have them! Like I mentioned, I'd like them handed out because at least it would let me know that I had been awarded the class! But if they aren't going to hand them out then what is the point of requiring them? (I still want them there, because now that I know this I will go and ask for one, but it does feel a bit odd having to go and ask for your ribbon!) Takes up time handing out 1st, 2nd, 3rd place ribbons for every class. You need to watch the judge while showing. And listen. If there are two or more in a class, they often point with their fingers, one, two, three. And the steward would then usually say the numbers. Even with one dog in the class they judge usually acknowledes the place getters. Sit yourself down outside a ring and watch. You can learn a lot that way :)

  16. BOB and challenge ribbons are often ringside and you help yourself or they are handed out. I have never seen place ribbons for a class handed out at an everyday show, if you want them you do need to go to the secretary's office and ask.
  17. easy peasy  no really I did my first from the same point. It was a bit tough but not too bad.
  18. Which councils require a dog to be desexed when being reclaimed by it's owner?
  19. let them sleep on the bed with me, they never move :D
  20. Why did the pound desex your dog? You weren't buying him, you were collecting him. (Paying whatever fees/fines you had to).
  21. someone has already explained how differences can occur. In the ring they are on a lead and shown by someone who knows how to handle them. Get stirred up at home, break down a fence, emotions are higher, different triggers etc. But to rip into people, no matter what the trigger/excitement levels are is totally not acceptable. The dogs deserved to be put down.
  22. There is no need to be embarrassed about your boy. He is from a registered breeder and as you say blue is allowable. And why not have a colour preference? I do in my breed.
