A dog so tired at 6 years old that she was lame I agree The elkhound that came 4th in the hound group was 9.

if there are no tests how can you blame a breeder for not telling you? If they had a dog affected by hemangiosarcoma it is quite possible it was never diagnosed, particulary if it was an old dog whose passing was somewhat expected.

There was a comment made, in the sidebar of the live feed, about the judge standing on a dogs foot

Allergies, Allergies,allergies
Rebanne replied to the cat lady's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
you could try an infusion of calendula. Cheap and seems to work for a lot of dogs. Heath food shops stock the dried leaves, I just bought 100 grams for $5.90, put a handful in a bucket of hot water, let it cool then sponge it onto the dog, let dog drip dry. Erny is a long standing member here who has been singing Calendula (marigold) praises for a long time. I have a dog with some seasonal contact allergies happening at the moment. Yesterday I bathed her fully in the calendula infusion. Today I made a smaller amount and stood her feet/legs in the container one by one, washed her belly and let her drip dry. I admit I was sceptical but it has made a big difference. I even wiped out her ears with a very well wrung out cloth. -
so what is it? Breed only to replace a show dog or breed often enough to have a regular income?

Please be careful with the ace. That's a big dose he is getting

Gawd that is bloody awful and he shouldn't have to suffer that. Nor you.

Do I Need A Copy Of Both The Parents' Health Check?
Rebanne replied to merikuri's topic in General Dog Discussion
I seem to recall where, on a form giving a clear result, the dogs name was changed. So a dog that tested carrier or affected appeared to have a clear certificate. This was a Border Collie I think and was discussed here on DOL a few years ago -

why would you not give copies, particularly if asked? -

Handwritten, no way. I wouldn't settle for less then hard copies of offical paperwork eta yes some details may be handwritten as others have said but it needs to be on offical paperwork -
did you read the posts by sighthound people saying your expectations are, basically, too high? Are you saying I like pig dogging and dog fighting? Otherwise why bring it up? Was never in the discussion until you said it.

I think what you are planning on doing is bordering on cruelty, did you actually look at those poor dogs? Sure they did it, to a certain extent, but it wasn't exactly fun for them. The stress on that first dog was incredible. I watched the first two but couldn't watch any others it distressed me too much. I trained a male greyhound for agility, he barely fit through the tyre and could not do it at full height without hitting his back, needless to say I stopped, as my dog comes first. You will be asking a dog who is much bigger to do the same thing. It's only going to be fun for you, it won't be for the dog. If you really wanted an IW you would want it for it's own attributes and get a different breed for your agility ego. To me it's "oh look at me, how good am I, making this dog do what I want, never mind he is so unsuited to do these activites in so many ways" It makes me sick

doesn't mean the pups won't be driven. Agility equipment won't be big or strong enough for an IW.

One entire bitch, GSD, spayed at around 3, after 4 or 5 seasons. Found a tiny pea size lump near a nipple at around 6, never tested. One entire bitch, Greyhound, spayed at 5, so far zilch All other bitches, 5, spayed at around 6 months, one became incontinent at around 8 years after a UTI

excellent result, congratulations!

A mini wouldn't be much more than 8kg if that, still no match for 25/30kg dog.....a GSD is considered a medium sized dog so a mini Schnauzer is still quite a small dog I would think? A GSD is a large breed. No offence meant. no they are classed as a medium breed
