  1. lets hope the breeder provides them with a lot more then just a puppy. How to properly care for it while travelling should be top of the list
  2. if the poor dog was living with the cats does that mean he was free ranging and eating food out of open packets of food, much like the cats still do?
  3. it's a poll being run by the Maitland Mercury paper about the propsed new laws re breeding. It's a safe link as fas as I can tell, nothing bad happened to my computers
  4. I leave coats on my greyhounds while unattended, they'd freeze otherwise. I have never known them to get hooked on anything, the worst that has happened is a bit of a chew around the neck or on the tie around the waist. Coat then falls off and dog gets cold but that can be prevented by using one of these The Wolf's Den I don't like coats with legs in them as I have found the older greys have trouble bending their long legs up to get them on and it's extra hard when they are a bit rickerty in hind legs.
  5. get rid of the weetbix, milk, tin food. I'm happy to feed supercoat, so give some for breakfast as well, and for tea I'd go a couple of chicken wings.
  6. I think Petplan offers 6 weeks free insurance on puppies to registered breeders? Worth asking them about it. My pup came with 6 weeks free insurance. yes they do, you can apply on their website
  7. what about another vet at the same practice? All her notes will be there. And there is no saying what the vet who did the OP may think anyway, he might be like the ER vet.
  8. not when you talk about excessive drinking, smoking etc, our pets aren't really into that, well mine aren't
  9. you are in the wrong thread, you have contributed nothing to the orginal post. It is against forum rules to railroad a thread. Please take your "discussion" elsewhere. Start your own thread in the health forum if you feel the need to share your thoughts.
  10. That's what I saw as well on the packet when I looked at it the other day. I found it a bit misleading. 50% meat doesn't = 50% protein. Meat isn't all protein matter. i.e. 100grams of chicken may only contain 30g of protein. I know but the way it was written made me think they meant 50% protein. I found it misleading. And it isn't 50% meat in my book when chicken and turkey meal were the first 2 ingredients.
  11. not enough food by any means. 2x4's a not a meal as such, they are a snack and extra hard to help keep teeth clean. This poor puppy needs at least 2 meals a day of proper food.
  12. That's what I saw as well on the packet when I looked at it the other day. I found it a bit misleading.
  13. what the MDBA develops or thinks of things is not the law or the current code which is what the OP wants.
  14. Personally, if you can't do the full on quarantine then you have to accept that there is no quarantine. Only you can then decide if you are willing to take the risk.
  15. I have my dogs with PetPlan, was with Medicare. I prefer PetPlan cause it allows alernative treatment like acupuncture. Very pleased I made the swap.
  16. Thanks. Do you have any suggestions i.e. things that you have done to mitigate risk if you have rescued dogs from the pound? no I don't take dogs direct from pounds, except once 20 years ago. I have taken dogs direct from others (greyhound kennels) though. It's a risk I chose to take.
  17. I'd give her another pain pill now. It's nearly 8 hours so she can have one.
  18. unless you can keep your own dogs away from the run and the crate and change your clothes and shoes everytime you won't have any quarantine.
  19. Haven't you ever seen Dante's Peak  it's about a volcano erupting I have a Warrior, and he most certainly isn't :D
  20. Good work! Names: Thor and Dante sprung to mind as soon as I read your post and now Zeus as well
