... and the point I'm making is that all of those "traditional" breeds HAVE been the subject of public distrust in times past for exactly the same reasons bull breeds are now. None of those breeds were banned or subject to BSL conditions - instead, the breeding community stepped up and became somewhat more selective about where their dogs were/are going, yes? THAT is the answer - not BSL or banning of entire breed types. There was BSL regarding GSD's, none could be imported into the country for approx 30 years I think it was and couldn't be taken into the NT unless desexed, maybe they couldn't go past the rabbit fence line, can't quite remember that. I also think they had to be muzzled while out being walked. They could still be bred from though.

This has been ongoing for months, I would be thinking of docking as well.

Almost 12yo Greyhound Needs Home Or Rescue Asap
Rebanne replied to gillbear's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
don't be too concerned about the hip bones showing, that's fairly normal on a greyhound, as long as his ribs are very lightly covered. You are doing an excellent job My parents adopted an 8 yo GSD once and we reckon she looked for her old owners for around 12 months. -
as has been stated many, many times in the past.

Plenty of dog savvy folk on here have said there is nothing wrong with feeding a whole raw egg but you didn't believe them until you read it on a blog

Urgent Help Needed Regarding Stressed Cavalier!
Rebanne replied to cavvysavvy's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am sorry but I disagree, your routine has changed big time from being at home full time to going to work 4 days a week. Even if you went to the shops etc every day while you were at home it does not compare to going to work 4 days a week. You have the child to get ready before going to work, then you go to work, then you come home with child. Then you have to get dinner, bath child, put child to bed. You would not have a lot of spare time in those days. There is still all the other household stuff to do as well. Before if you went to the shops you'd be gone an hour or two, most likely in the middle of the day, with no rush to get out of the house at a ceertain time. -
Sept/Oct last year I had my boy collected twice, first was just for semen analysis, 2nd to freeze, approx $480 and $50 for storage of the 3 vials. Alpine Vets, Bright, Victoria eta $50 storage is per year

Almost 12yo Greyhound Needs Home Or Rescue Asap
Rebanne replied to gillbear's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
is he still skinny at 29 kilos's? I would think he would need the equivelent of at least 3 cups of dry food. My 34 kilo bitch gets 4 cups a day if that is all she gets. Otherwise she gets around 400 grams of minced chicken carcasses and a cup and a bit of dry. If he needs more weight try porridge. Even a couple of teaspoons of an added oil to his food would help with his weight. Mostly when greys are unsure they do "retreat" into themselves a bit. As he settles you will see a big difference in him. -

I think Albury Dog Club has show training classes. There are 3 shows at Thurgoona in August, usually a group of us set up together. Even if your dog's paperwork is not sorted out you are welcome to bunk in with us anyway and we can help you learn some stuff. -

Any Ideas? Progressive Paralysis In Puppy
Rebanne replied to Kirislin's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Unfortunately the news isn't good. I saw my friends today and the puppy was put down. It had got worse since I described what I knew at the time and it was in pain. The vet felt it was possibly an injury or some kind of problem with its spine that was deteriorating with age. Very sad. Thanks for asking. so sad -

Maybe they didn't make an appointment because doing so gave Lola time to clean things up? I, thankfully, don't know any dogs who live in the conditions those shelter dogs are forced to live in. -

I wouldn't want any of my pets to ever end up in such a "state of the art" facility as Moorook. Drinking green water, sleeping in tin sheds in that climate, fed food exposed to vermin. -
as you live in a unit be thankful he doesn't bark. A door bell will do the job very nicely.
