Dogs Seized From No Kill Shelter
Rebanne replied to HeelerLove's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Are you saying Moorook is a well respected organisation? I want to check you really mean that. If you have read this thread you should know a bit more about what really happens at Moorook. I guess if you think hoarders who are up on some pretty serious cruelty charges and keep unrehomeable dogs for years on end in small cages till they go mad are well respected then I don't think anything I say will change your mind. I won't even start on the cat situation Thankfully most people know this is wrong and are doing all they can to help these animals after years of rspca inactivity. I gather you have been there then, have inspected the premises thoroughly and know everything there is to know about it, based on your personal observations? if you had bothered to read the whole thread then you might have some answers to your questions skelp2 -

Tips On Finding A Breeding Female Beagle
Rebanne replied to rogue6901's topic in General Dog Discussion
great post as always -
Fern, my greyhound bitch has different size pupils and has had them for years now. Vision is good. Never causes her problems. The bigger one seems to remain the same size with no obvious constriction but she can certainly see out of it. I've never taken her to a specialist just the local vet.

you won't be able to breed your dog and get registered puppies. -
well as see it, we only have a newspaper report as to who said/did what. I still say nurofen should not have been prescribed, no matter what sort and what dose.

I'm an associate member, I can't vote for one thing. I think you will find you will need to be a full member to compete. I am a full member of the VCA.

sorry I meant to say in Victoria, other states and sometimes different councils in those states, have their own requirements.

it can take 2 or 3 days for the mothering instinct to kick in and that won't happen while they are seperated. Unless there is a medical reason I'd be getting them back together asap. ETA I just saw the Mumma bit one, it does happen but if you are willing to put in some hard yards it may still be turned around.

It is illegal to let any greyhound off lead in a public area, including green collared ones and including off lead dog parks
-
naw, just making sure they are the only ones you can supply such a rare colour. Wouldn't want anyone else cashing in.

Jelly please don't think I am having a go at you personally, I have not followed all of this thread but do know you have put in 100% for Roo and that is amazing. You are only going on what you have been told by the rescue group and obviously that information is incorrect. Greyhounds are my passion and would love them all to find homes but the right homes, you could have been put in a very dangerous situation not to mention other animals you could encounter on your walk. I do wish you all the best. Ditto

I've had some doozy's contact me because they saw the ad on DOL

A greenhound dog is a grey that has been approved through a GAP assessor and is then allowed to be muzzle free in public. The test is quite involved and not all will pass. My concern here is if you are walking Mia muzzle free without her being approved you are not only breaking the law but putting yourself, Roo and Mia in a potentially dangerous position. That is why I strongly suggested you foster through a reputable group such as GAP. In Victoria the only greyhounds allowed muzzle free are those that have been through GAP, no other organisation has that ability. GAP will assess greyhounds from other places, it entails at least a week stay with GAP. So Mia came from Kay's Greys? I am not surprised as I thought it very dodgy that GAP would allow a foster dog to go off with someone else other then the official carer. If you have been told Mia is a GAP greyhound and does not need a muzzle and she has never been near GAP, then all I can say is there is a reason I only recommend two groups in Vic and Kay's Grey's is not one of them.

The green GAP collar? I wouldn't use a split lead either. If you are having trouble walking them then maybe a smaller dog would be better. I would think any dog with the right temperament would be good. What is happening with them tomorrow when you go back to work?

He ate pretty well, soaked dry food, chicken necks, he was good. The gums harden up.
