  1. You don't have to own a reactive dog to be sick to death of all the offlead dogs harassing you and yours. I don't want your dog coming up to mine uninvited. Why is that so hard for some to understand? I don't care how friendly or well mannered it is, if you are not in an off lead area put the damn dog on a leash.
  2. Warby St vets Wangaratta has a vet visit fortnightly who does chiro and acupuncture. Her name is Christine Gee.
  3. your story reminded me that we had a Lab when I was a small child that was very aggressive, not that I remember. What I remember is driving out to the country to a home that had labs and we took home a black one. My parents ran a milk bar and as was custom back then the dog was often loose. I came home from school one day to be told the dog had gone, I was devastated and cried for days. Years late my parents told me how Sooty used to bail up all the non anglo saxon looking people out the front of the shop. He was given to a truck driver who declared he was the best watch dog he had ever had, could leave his truck unlocked anywhere. I'd forgotten about Sooty
  4. as a greyhound breeder I wouldn't sell you a puppy. Pups need a place to run and develop properly and a courtyard doesn't provide it. But an adult greyhound would suit. I would recommend one from GAP that has been properly assessed for your circumstances. My greyhounds are fine with cats as were the GAP fosters I have had through my house.
  5. Possibly sending over some blood samples from a litter of pups when they are 6 weeks old. I have looked on the website etc of the company I would be sending to but after some first hand experience. The test can only be done in USA.
  6. is she a gulper when eating? Does she swallow a lot of air? If so can you use a slow down feeding bowl and see if that makes a difference?
  7. I bought one of those pups, knowing what she was like. I put her down at 20 months old. Problem is those pups are often ok with the breeder, amongst their family. I was a fool to take her, I could see what she was like, but really didn't have any idea just how much it would impact on her quality of life. Based on my experience and the heartbreak we both went through, if I bred one like that and could see it, I would PTS.
  8. Nuf Nuf's aren't confined to non DOL people, nuf nuf's are everywhere
  9. I think Wangaratta Kennel Club runs shows handling classes but you have to ask for them. I haven't been so can't advise on how good, or not, they are.
  10. Just do a search, plenty of threads to read
  11. break away collars aren't much good as they break away very easily. I had 2 at one stage but my girl kept getting the one on my boy off and if you grabbed them in the wrong spot you were left holding a collar and no dog! Good on you for keeping the boy safe. Whilst my dogs might not appreciate a night at the pound they are at least safe there.
  12. Well done, what a thrill for you
  13. Thanks aliwake, Called my local and they have advised not to overstress, there is not much I can do right now, keep an eye on him make sure he isn't vomiting or looking unwell, he said he gets calls like this allot and 90% of the time it just passes through with no worry as long as the bones were chewed well. I know it's a bit late but feeding him bread at the time would have been a good idea. Theory is it protects the stomach, intestine from sharp bits. I read it years ago when someone's dog ate a Xmas tree ball. It was also suggested to feed the dog cotton balls soaked in milk but I think bread was the better idea.
  14. you need to give heartworm preventative more then every 3 months. I do my dogs every 6 weeks from April through to October then monthly. You are basing your actions on an American blog???? You really need to sort this out with your vet.

  16. Is your pup actually not doing well on his current food or do you just think he needs a better food?
  17. I know racing greyhounds who race without dewclaws, and doing ok too
  18. I charge the same, all my pups go as pet's, the showing is just their part time job.
  19. That's like saying would it come down to the one who had it's whisker's trimmed. There would be something to separate the two before it became so nit picky
  20. regardless of breed all dogs can hurt someone and you need to be aware of that. Sounds like the owner of the attacking dog also thought they wouldn't hurt someone. Poor lady, hope her little dog is ok
  21. dew claws are the most neglected nail on a dog
