  1. sorry but that would have to be the biggest load of codswallop I have ever heard. When I had GSD's they were pretty much outside 20 hrs a day. Their ribbons/sashes for obedience and agility speak for themselves. Some dogs do get sunburn that is true, cause some of them, no matter how much shade is provided, just have to sunbake
  2. Maybe they are outside cause they are after all dogs and it's good for them, rather then be cooped up in a pen for 3/4 of their life. Pups need to feel rain on their back, sunlight on their face, wind ruffling through their fur, chase a leaf blowing along the ground. I appreciate this is not always possible for people living in flats/units but if you have a backyard, then yeah I think the dog should be allowed to enjoy it, on his own terms, not with a human hovering over them.
  3. why can't they be outside early morning, early evening, or even overnight?
  4. I was the same but I don't regret it for a single minute.
  5. The article states she called once, when they first got out, then she got a letter from the pound/council saying they had her dogs. How soon after she got the letter she started trying to wriggle out of the pound fees the article didn't say. I suspect they were put down cause they were habitual escapee's
  6. Usually outside in the yard. Often separated now that Fern is older and doesn't know that rough housing hurts her! Or they are together in a smaller part of the yard so not as much playing can be done. I can divide the yard into several different sizes/areas, depending on length of time away and how many dogs and their ages ( and health requirements. ) Not often left inside for hours at a time. Sometimes the back door is left open so they can access the kitchen area, the door to the rest of the house is locked.
  7. And so she should. according to the article she rang the pound once! ETA I read the full article on line, dogs were in the pound for over 28 days
  8. It would be very hard on you but for the dogs sake I would send her back to her breeder and let them rehome the dog. It's sad your situation has changed so much but I feel it's unfair to the dog to chop and change around. You don't know where you will be in 12 months time, things might not have improved, what then? I think you should think of the dog first.
  9. Fern had a litter June 20th and was desexed mid Nov. 2 years ago now and no sign of any incontinence. Only bitch that I ever had that developed incontinence was spayed at 6 months, had a UTI at 6 years and became incontinent after that. I've had several spayed bitches and only the one that had any problems.
  10. Does the rubber disintegrate? I always buy new bedding for each new litter, so if it only lasts out one litter before wearing down, that would suit me ok...... It does, when I take mine out of the wash the rubber is all through the plush pile reminds me of grated cheese Thanks......that solves that question....no rubber backed for me :) But that doesn't happen with mine :)
  11. I have a huge whelping box, 1.4 x 1.4 metres and just use a couple of pieces in it. Much easier to wash then one big one :D
  12. Midway Motel, Kaniva, Vic. Stayed there on the way to and on the way back from the Adelaide Royal. For $15 extra was able to have Warrior in the room in his crate. Lovely cooked breakfast available and was $78 for a single per night. Basic but very clean and comfortable. Plenty of towels and hot water.
  13. They did a lap after the Puppy class was judged and it was explained to the public at Adelaide
  14. I would text you bback with a time suitable for you to call me. Calls cost a lot and not everyone has a huge plan. Also, for the OP, I prefer first contact to be made by email but I work night shift so it might be 3 or 4 days before I reply. I am on my way home from Adelaide Royal, currently at my daughters, for the past 8 days basically just relying on my phone and I would never reply to an email via the phone. Not to savvy to do that.
  15. I am a good breeder but not according to a few people here in this thread! I don't have homes lined up for pups before they are born and I advertise everywhere. I don't care where the homes come from, they are all vetted the same way.
  16. Not all foods suit all dogs. Mine do very well on Supercoat. Try something else for a couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference. Also it may just be changing of the coat as others have said.
  17. If I was walking past and your dog bashed through the fence I would have the ranger there so fast your head would spin. Who knows what he might do in such a state of heightened arousal. So it would be best for everyone if you could attend to the issue as quickly as possible. You wouldn't want to be responsible for some old lady having a heart attack.
  18. Why can't they have the whole yard? And you need 2 kennels. My 2 dogs have 7 different kennels to choose from. (I've had up to 4 dogs). I do separate my dogs when I am at work but that's because of the extreme playing and the soreness my older girl gets afterwards. I divided the whole backyard for them. If your dogs fight now over food they will find something else to fight over when confined in such a small space day in day out. I'd consider that size for one only
  19. He certainly is a handsome lad!
  20. They will be there all day.:-)
