we are all here coloured by our own experiences. My experience say PTS. I would never amputate for osteosarcoma and the fact the leg has already broken is very bad news. After my experience with how quickly a dog can go downhill with this disease and having my dog suffer for a few hrs when the pain killers stopped working suddenly until I could get a vet here, I will always PTS within 48 hrs of diagnoses. I would rather put down early then ever, ever wait and risk my dog suffering. I couldn't live through that again. That is my experience. Good luck with your decision, it is not easy.

just a little crate story :D I have a 7 year old greyhound who is crate trained ( all my dogs are ). She has slept on my bed or the couch since a young dog. Recently she has had to have 6 weeks of enforced crate rest which she handled exceptionally well, to the point, now that the strict rest has eased off, that she is asking to get into the crate all the time. She really does love it! I am the one feeling neglected cause the crate is in my bedroom, Fern stands at the baby gate asking to be let in! Mind you crate training has not helped with the constant barking and carrying on she does at the vets if she has to stay there

Oh Dog! I thought this thread had died.

That would be fine for one dog for that time. I have a 3 x 4 dog yard with a double kennel in it and fence down the middle. So both sides are roughly 1.5 metres x 3 metres. Dogs are fine in there for close to 12 hrs while I work night shift.

A Hypothetical Question For Breeders

it's not disqualifying here though. But yes easier to be a fraction under. -
A Hypothetical Question For Breeders

well no, I don't agree. 13 - 15 means those heights and anything in between is perfectly acceptable. 14 inches means they want as close as possible to that height and they'll put down a dog who might only be 13 inches. That's my take anyway :) -

yes this is the sort of thing that going back in history may shed light on. -

oh you must, I find it all so interesting and then applying it to your own breed, fascinating stuff. Actually I like lot's of dog history but mainly in the sighthounds -
A Hypothetical Question For Breeders

I tracked it down but funnily enough it's in French :D . However it would appear by the heights ( I compared the greyhound as well ) that the ANKC and the French standard are the same, which yes comes from the KC. -

What's the French standard? -
A Hypothetical Question For Breeders
Rebanne replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes close, but not the same. The height thing for one could be a problem if you exported. Beagles in the USA have two heights, we don't here. would have to be very careful with what you imported. Whippets can be taller in the USA, again got to be careful as you might end up with out of standard whippets here. -

The ANKC and AKC standards are different. ANKC AKC eta I looked up my breed just to remind myself of the main difference and the ANKC has a height limit, AKC has a weight limit. Neither have the other. I follow the ANKC standard as this is what the judges here judge by. -

Most of those dogs show considerably more daylight under them than the Bassets in the ring around here. All bar 3 photos are of PBGVs anyway. seems they are cross bred heavily to the PBGV -
I don't leave collars on my greyhounds when they are home. If your other dog is pulling on Rosie's collar and she is slipping them then that is much better then getting tangled up and coming home to one or two dead dogs. A collar does not prevent some idiot keeping your dog, their lack of integrity does.

They did :)

hope it all turns out ok in the end
