  1. Shedding and I heard they drool. Mine never drooled and as I said I didn't think they shed excessively
  2. no one has said to make a pet wait until a day off to be PTS if they were in pain etc. Some of us, me included, said, we would wait until we had time off to organise PTS, if we could. Sometimes our pets are just old and tired, waiting another day or two doesn't make any difference to them. All of my pets have been PTS, none have died in their sleep. All were PTS at the appropriate time, except for one who had 10 hrs of pain before I could get a vet to him. He is why I have always vowed to go too early rather then too late.
  3. Excellent news. I'll get Annie K to send a coat up for him.
  4. I never noticed excessive shedding from my GSD's and I had 5 over the years. To the OP, what is it you don't like about GSD's? Seeing as how you want a dog like a GSD but not a GSD.
  5. as much as I love my pets my answer would be no. If I am choosing to PTS and can pick the day I do so then I do it on days I am not working. If I don't get to choose the time and I am supposed to work then I use my sick leave or take leave without pay.
  6. There used to be a limit to what pounds could do with dogs in their care as they didn't own the dogs until after their impound time was up. I had a collie come in who had sticks intertwined in it's hair basically hobbling it's hinds legs together. I did cut out the sticks but could do no more until the dog was actually past it's impounded time. Instead of going of at pounds maybe you should direct your energies at the people that allowed the dog to get into such a state in the first place. Bloody hate pages, how ridiculous
  7. so you are going to breed her? Did you get her papers?
  8. won't it be a bit small for you?
  9. oh, I'm so sorry R.I.P Teddy
  10. Brantarby - Greyhounds due end of June
  11. I would say he has had the OCD tendencies for quite a while. He used to chase flies, now he chases his tail. I had a GSD girl that I ended up PTS at 20 months and she had OCD. Tail chasing as well as pacing in circles looking for things in the carpet or grass. She did not have an easy life
  12. dare I say it, the GSD people don't seem to think their breed is like a mine field. No doubt there are good and bad in the breed as there is in anything. My advice is to contact the GSD club in your state and find a breeder that you click with it. Cause there is more to a GSD then just how level their topline is. You need to see them in the flesh rather then stacked for the show ring. Look at what else they do for the dog, what health tests they do, how they support their puppy buyers etc.
  13. Happy Birthday Tess, enjoy your sleep in :D
  14. and tell them to be careful with the clippers, he doesn't need another dose of razor rash! will be thinking of you both
  15. and on this note as I am currently doing this; do not be afraid or a carrier x clear breeding. What this means for a puppy is it may be a carrier of a testable disease. It will have no impact on the health or well being of said pup. If a pet pup is a carrier it is no biggie as pet pups shouldn't be bred from. If a potential breeding pup is a carrier then yes, it is important to know your dog's status before breeding and the status of the dog it is being bred to. Carrier dogs are not affected but breed them to another carrier then you will get some affected pups and that is not fair to either pup or owner.
  16. registration with council is for the new owners to attend to depending on when the ANKC breeder registers the pups , those papers may or may not be ready at 8 weeks. I usually don't microchip until 8 weeks. I can't register the pups without microchip numbers, pups often go home at 8 weeks. Papers won't be ready. The registration papers you get with a pup are also your transfer of ownership, the details are on the back. yes to getting a vaccination card and yes to getting any info if pup has needed anything other then vaccination. Vets check the pups out when giving vaccinations but I've never had one give a written report. I give copies of any health tests I've done microchip form, if back, is given to new owner to swap into their name, otherwise sent with rego papers. my next litter is getting done at 4 weeks so all paperwork should be back and ready to hand over when pups are ready to go to their new homes.
  17. Yes I wold be inviting him back to see the work done. Cause lots of people say they will do something and never do, this is how repeat attacks happen.
  18. I disagree, DOLer's are always advising people to report dogs that rush/bite. I would be doing all the above and as others have suggested but in no way would I be applying the slightest bit of pressure on this poor man. And just asking not to report is pressure. This is true, but in the majority of such cases, the dog owner is not taking responsibility and the sort of action that Wild is. Tough one. sorry but Wild is taking action that should never have been needed, it is a lesson we should all take heed off, don't allow your dog free access to the street.

  20. A person of small stature and not a lot of strength ..shocked/scared, and with two strong dogs in a serious fight ? I don't blame you, Huskydrake .If you were not 100% certain of how to separate fighting dogs .. you were risking your own self . and that's very true Perse for whatever size person but I wouldn't have been able to stop myself.
  21. you and me both. R.I.P both dogs, what a way to die.
  22. I use child's dose of most things.
