They are really beautiful photos! I have heard people say Dingos are ugly; but they aren't at all, they are so beautiful!
-
is it too early to say congratulations? :D he is really really beautiful!

I think the closest I come to breed prejudice is with Corgis. I have met so many that are agressive.

Thanks Huga, yeah I can really see that it is blown out now that its been pointed out to me hehehe But although I knew Digby's face was dark I wasn't expecting it to come out with no detail... But I'm definitely going to work really hard on exposure now so I can get it right
-
Thank you so much everyone! You have all been so helpful! I'm definitely coming to a better understanfing

oh great! Thanks Huga. I'll have to see if I can adjust my settings so that the monitor reflects how the photos really are

Hi Persephone, Thanks for you response No I only have a printer that's designed for printing word documents. Here is the one of Digby. In the print he is just black, like it was a silhouette photo. and here is one of my little boy. In the print the left side of his face is very bright and the other parts are dark and very ruddy. I think I'll take your advise and tell them that I'm not happy with them. Then atleast maybe they can explain why they didn't turn out

I went to a camera shop today and got some of my photos printed. But they haven't turned out well. The colour is less vibrant, and it seems as though the contrast has been turned up so there are really dark bits, and really light bits; not at all good for faces! Also most of the catch-lights that I got in the eyes of my subjects are not there I really wanted to send my mum and dad some photos - they are not in the digital age and so the only way I can share photos with them is to print them. I don't know what went wrong? Do I need to edit them specifically for printing? Any tips and information would be so much appreciated! p.s. my poor black dog came out looking like a big black blob. All his facial detail was lost

Too many variables with a growing animal to lay the blame solely at the breeders feet. Some premium dog foods can make a pup grow too rapidly. Some previously considered premium dog foods have gone to crap too. It is far from a natural diet and I am sorry but one bone a week minus regular BARF type food is just not good enough in my opinion. Your pup may have been over exercised or too fat. Injured, Bounding up and down stairs? etc etc Only you know what you and your breeder discussed and agreed to and I hope the breeder put it in writing. You have bought a living thing and there is always risk with a living thing. Have you had a second specialists vets opinion? Was the puppies parents hip and elbow scored? End of the day our opinions mean nothing. You obviously are looking to pass the buck and are seeking support on here. You need to be talking to your breeder not us. By the way, just because a dog is put on main register does not mean it is guaranteed show quality, nor does it imply it is show quality. It simply means there have been no restrictions as to what you would do with that dog, placed on that dog. Sorry if this comes across as harsh. But sitting here behind the computer we cannot know all that went on in the 8 months you have had the pup. Talk to your breeder first. I think that's really harsh. Are you suggesting that this person should have fed their growing giant breed puppy barf? I find that really strange, as getting the ratios correct for a giant breed puppy via BARF is really hard and as such you would be more likely to run into problems than with an apporpriate premium kibble. It sounded to me like they were feeding the puppy what the breeder suggested. to the OP, I'm really sorry your dog has bad hips and elbows. definitely talk to your dog's breeder and let them know.

We named our dog Digby because it seemed to suit him. But apparently it means "town by a ditch" how awful! I would say he does not share the characteristics of a town near a ditch.

How To Get Dogs To Settle While You Are Out
raineth replied to wuffles's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
wuffles, do you have see-through fences (like wire, or pailings with gaps etc)? I find that dogs that can see through the fence, pay a lot more attention to what's going on outside the fence line and are more vocal about it. -
sounds fantastic! I wish the petstore down here that is also helping out with rescue would stop selling puppies, kittens and other critters; and do what you descibed above instead.

We'll not see his like again I think. Corlandus I recall was capable of quite an explosive bucking performance in warm ups. But what a mover - best extended trot EVER yep! Its Corlandus' personality mainly that makes him my fave: i think he was quite the character and that personality really came out in his work and a trot to die for ;) sorry Leelaa!!!

off topic - Reiner Klimke. Although Corlandus is probably my fave dressage horse from that time I'm just a dog owner I currently have two dogs from rescue which have inspired me to learn a lot about dogs and training them. But I have fostered about 8 dogs/puppies I can't see that I'll ever do a dog-related job. I am currently doing a degree that won't lead to any dog-related job, but does give me insight into animals in aperipheral kind of way.

Is Running Alongside A Bike Too Early At 6 Months?
raineth replied to kyliegirl's topic in Puppy Chat
I actually think you could put some effort into training it at this age. don't actually go and do laps with him or anything. But I think you could teach him the basic rules, such as not pulling and staying by the side of the bike. You cold even start by just walking the bike and him together etc. I think you could do a minute's worth of a slow running pace a few times a week, next to the bike without causing problems. -

This brings back memories. I have an old Bullmastiff bitch who is famously known in our family as the "accidental mouser"! She used to love joining our Jack Russells on their mousehunts, much to their exasperation as she constantly knocked them over and got in the way in her lumbering excitement. Anyways, one day the JR's and the bumbling Bullmastiff had a mouse cornered behind some junk in the shed and it was chaos until the dogs realised that the mouse had somehow broken through their defences and escaped, so they went searching in another part of the shed. Only the Bullmastiff bitch remained standing stock still, staringly fixedly at the place she last saw the mouse and determinedly willing it to give itself up!!! In the end I felt I couldn't stand the sight of a Bullmastiff wasting all that effort trying to achieve mind control over a mouse that wasn't even there, so I took her by the collar to gently lead her away to new and more stimulating forms of intellectual fulfilment. I cracked up to see that under one of her big ol front paws was the mouse, cut down dead as he made his bold break for freedom - squashed flat by his clueless 50 kg conqueror. JR love it! they have a special brand of dopiness don't they
