  1. Farewell handsome boy. Sorry for your loss Clicking Mad. You have such a beautiful photographic history of him :)
  2. Thanks Snook and BCCrazy :) He really is like the proverbial kid on the candy shop at the moment, and he's enjoying every bit of food I pop into that giant maw of his  Grass well I wouldn't have guessed that!
  3. As DC said, where do you eventually want her to sleep? I personally think if you don't want her sleeping in your bed, then that's fine, not everyone wants that, and that's ok :)
  4. What a coincidence Lisa, first time we've ever been too! Yeah I could never let Del offlead there, Delta lives for running flat-out, and there's nothing she'd like more than running flat-out after kangaroos. Was it the kangas that did it? Or was he just in a bit of a witching mood? I'd like to try the trail near San Isidore soon, and the lagoon near Bomen.
  5. He doesn't seemed to mind that he's a bit landlocked does he! :)
  6. nah its at Pomingalarna Lisa, you'll have to take Nova there, it was really great! It was very quiet and lots of different trails to follow. There are Kangaroos there, just something to be aware of, Nova's probably ok with Kangas though? Although Willans Hill is really good too, have you taken Nova there before? I have taken Del down the main street in her Jammies, but it was around 6am, so doesn't really count :)
  7. Poor girl, hopefully it was a one-off event. It'd be nice to know what caused it though!
  8. haha yes he is having a fat time  It's been wonderful actually as I think we've actually halted the weight loss in the last week and managed to put some backon him. It makes me very happy, it has been one of the hardest things for me seeing him visibly lose weight every day (he lost 12 kilograms in two weeks). He's also been having plenty of outings
  9. Froghurt day today! Digby had Plain yoghurt with strawberry syrup from a local yoghurt shop. It took him a little bit to get the hang of spoon feeding, initially he thought maybe the spoon was also for eating
  10. Nawwww Kirby might make you a giant puppy convert :D she sounds pretty adorable :) That's so good that Stella's coping well with Kirkby you must be very happy :) . Poor Sonny he thinks he has another sister to look after  eta: Sorry,I didn't mean to spell her name Kirkby!
  11. Didi's living the life! :) I wonder whether the blue suit might be to protect from contact allergies?
  12. Ice cream from home for afternoon tea, with the yohgurt drops he chose and a bit of Kangaroo sticking out the top :D I think he's thinking "goddammit woman! Just say the word!"
  13. i love the way you put things HD :) Yeah I remember you saying about Jake's 'sister'. I hope she's doing well somewhere, it would be just wonderful if you happened across her someday.
  14. I'm so sorry for your loss MW Farewell Tess you were much loved by many people from the sounds of things :)
  15. Yes sorry that was a bit morbid... Resume normal programming... :) You're right HD, going to club will mean that she still gets some dog contact, even if she's not actually interacting too much :)
  16. That's so good it's not an intolerance could you just wash him with water as it will still remove a lot of fur, but shouldn't dry the skin like using shampoo would? I don't know as I'm not at all familiar with having dog with a big fur coat, maybe it would result in him having a very bad hair day or something.
  17. Terri, I think T might be onto something when she said its a Dane thing. My girl Dane is similar. I have an exam today but I'll take a photo in the next couple of days and put it up for you. You could ask in the Dane thread about it, although it's very quiet in there atm.
  18. That's really great to hear makes me so happy :) What you were saying about being around dogs because of daycare and therefore dogs not being such a novelty really resonates with me. Del used to have four doggy friends (not including Digby) that we saw regularly. Then they each happened to move away (to different states no less!) And now Digby is dying and I still haven't managed to get her to the point where she could make new friends, and I worry for her that it will be the end of any dog contact she has.
  19. HI there, congrats on the puppy :) exciting times ahead for your family :) One of the most important things you need to do is teach him to be ok with his own company right from the beginning. This is especially true as you will be having time at home with him for the first couple of weeks he's in your life. I think the penned area sounds good. Start with small amounts of time alone (with a special chew to keep puppy occupied) and progress to longer times. Also actually go through the motions of leaving the house without him, the normal things you would do before leaving and then leave out the front door. You can enter again in a minute or two. I personally think in your situation some of the puzzle toys and chew toys would be good. So things like Kongs. Don't go out and get hundreds of toys. I would say you need: a crate with durable bedding a collar and lead water and food bowls Chews (e.g. bones) and a roast chook to make training treats with. A treat bag to clip on for when you take him outside for toileting Paper towel and white vinegar on hand for accidents. A toy container to hold the toys, so you can give them out to have a game and put them back in when you're done (this makes puppy less likely to be bored with them).
  20. Hi. Thought your comment interesting re Sunday Pets aroma. Plus comments from others saying that they didn't find it so. Think that we all "smell" things differently; depends on our genetic makeup apparently. I certainly haven't found it so but hey, we're all different. Here's some info. that I found useful ... http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/4167.php That's a little bit patronising. Have you considered that there might actually be something wrong with the bag that Clyde received? Regardless of whether a particular smell appeals to someone or not, its extremely strange for a product that doesn't normally have a strong smell to be so bad that someone doesn't want to touch it and it needs to be kept in the garage. I agree. I think it's very odd to not consider the possibility that something's gone amiss with the bag, and to inly consider that Clyde's sense of smell is the problem.
  21. As Brandiandwe said, get a routine in place and stick to it as much as possible, this will help her settle in immensely as she can predict when things happen. Other than that, you may need to re-house train her as some dogs don't always understand that not toileting in their previous house also means not toileting in this particular house. So treat her as if she was a puppy and take her out regularly and praise her for going outside. It sounds like she is a sweety, and I bet she'll settle in well :)
  22. Good work ladies Benny looks very appreciative too :) Is he yours now Breandiandwe or are you fostering him? I love that Kirkland bed by the way :)
  23. Lovely photo it's great to hear what a good time they had :) That's really sad that she was left untreated
  24. Happy Birthday Lili, and many more to come too! What a good girl she is and that photo of you both us really sweet :) and Mo, you are just so handsome!
  25. boy she is just so sound-sensitive isn't she! I am glad she can get some relief by coming inside then :) I was thinking it would be so hard if going inside didn't even ease her anxiety. I guess if the tape-recorded sounds of basketball were going to have any chance of success you would have to do make sure she didn't come into contact with the full-blown basketball noise while she was being trained to be at ease with it, and secondly you would have to start it on the lowest setting of sound, with the stereo outside, while she is inside, and maybe doing something she finds relaxing, or something she really loves (dinner maybe?). Its a real tricky one obviously
