BCCrazy I am just so happy for you and Stella! I am just so happy reading that that I read it twice just for my own enjoyment Way to go you two Snook, it still sounds like you handled it pretty well :) and you never know, but maybe being that close proximity to the dog, and also not having anything 'bad' happen might stick in his mind and ultimately be a good thing :) But yes it's crazy! Some people just really don't understand at all. I have been having some wins with Del this week. She has been doing so well at club. And I made a wonderful find in my neighbourhood this week. A lovely little Maltese who spends the day in his front yard. He is quite curious watching me do BAT with Del. sometimes he has a little woof at her, but he doesn't get very worked up. Apart from being quite an adorable little one-eyed fellow he also makes a great training partner for us :) I make sure I tell him how good he is being :) -

Should I Bother Asking The Vet About This?
raineth replied to raineth's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Well I'm very happy, his vet has given us the go-ahead to have him on the tablets everyday :) Thanks aliwake, but to be honest I just couldn't bear the thought of being heartbroken while I still have him here. I'm not saying I haven't felt sad or upset at all during this time, but it seems like when I feel like that I'm wasting the precious time I have left with him. Plus it's so much fun spoiling him, he's very spoilable :) -
Should I Bother Asking The Vet About This?

thanks guys :) It is helpful to have a sounding board from people on Dol, for reasons that you stated Justrace. Obviously I am keeping a close eye on things and I know things are close, I really do. On days he has his pred he can go for walks, and gets a lot of enjoyment from food, and loves his cuddles. But not so much on the days he's without pred. This has only been the case for the last 2 days he's missed having pred. So I have called the Vet office and his vet is going to give me a call back in a little while and I'll see what she says. -
Recommended Food Dispensing Toy?

The Kong genius is good, especially if you get more than one and connect them. However they are also a bit of a pain to fill... or I'm just a bit unco :) -
So, as some of you may know my dog Digby is having palliative care for Lymphoma. The Vet put him on a tapered dose of Prednisone. He started out on 100mg and that was decreased, and he is now at the point where he is having 25mg every second day. However, he has recently got to the point where the days he goes without the Pred he is not doing so well. Days with the Pred he gets a lot of enjoyment from life. So to me it makes sense to give him prednisone every day. Digby's 'dad' really wants him put on it every day, and is a bit upset I haven't done it yet. I do know of another dog undergoing palliative care for Lymphoma and they take their pred every day. But should I book a vet appointment to ask them, or should I just do it? I guess I'm worried that they will tell me not to do it :/ When he was diagnosed we were told to expect anywhere from days to 8 weeks. It was six weeks yesterday. I am not trying to give him extra time, just a good time.

Great work Bc Crazy -
Also, don't forget that a wagging tail is really just a sign of arousal, in a case where it is also accompanied by the sort of barking you describe, is not a sign of friendliness :) Maybe you could google "Look at that"/ It becomes a game and can be used whenever something is troubling your dog :)

Hi Ren, sorry to hear about the struggles your dog is having. I think its definitely worthwhile to look into medication. It might just give you the edge you need for training to make some progress. -

Oh man that is just so sad and frustrating Why cant people just sometimes say that they've stuffed up!? I mean at the very least you would expect after that lesson she would be honest with herself and you and admit that something happened and offer to help you and justice through the recovery. I know I would be devastated in that situation snook. I'm sure Justice will recover but its just so hard on you and him to have lost some of the gains you've made -
Thanks :) Yes he's a real gentleman... apart from the farting.

Thanks guys, its nice to share his enjoyment with everyone :) Thanks :) its a good old 1920s California Bungalow. haha yes, he checked the letter box today too, just incase

Oh Snook, that's really sad and must be very stressful for you especially as Amy was someone you really trusted Poor Justice too That response is so disappointing, he clearly did need veterinary attention and it seems exceedingly unlikely that that sort of injury could be caused from just playing. Why can't some people admit when a mistake has been made? -

Thanks for putting this up Leah, I have now signed up too :) Its a bit confusing about how to actually join Recallers. I kept coming across a link to page that was no longer working. Bit odd. I think I'll just sign up for the videos and see where that takes us :) -
Have You Already Picked Out Breed/name For Your Next One?
raineth replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes I do have several breeds and names planned. Although, having said that, I haven't actually decided on what breed the next dog will be... I might stick with Danes, that would be nice, but I have some other breeds that I like to at least imagine owning. Bullmastiff male named Sheridan Bullmastiff female named Natasha Italian Spinone male named Guido or Dolce Italian Spinone female named Florence Dane Male called Fidel Dane female called Chummy
