  1. Hi Jeanne, Yes, I just sign the form "per (my signature)" in the signature spot, and put the breeder's name & member number. For sweepstakes I usually put it in the "special class" spot - just as "3-6 month s/stakes" or similar. Deb
  2. Well done, Freckles & Matt! It is really hard to know what judges are looking for sometimes, isn't it!
  3. What's the go, everyone?? There hasn't been a post on this thread since the day before yesterday! We've even dropped off the first page of topics on the Show Ring Forum! Poocow how did Morgie go today?? Anyone else with results?? Deb
  4. Is it a rental or do you own the house? We have a cover on ours, that attaches to dynabolts around the edge of the pool so nothing can get under it. My min pin is never going to be big enough to keep out of there, and he trots across the top of the pool cover with no worries now! Please remember, whatever alterations you make to a pool fence, that the fence is there for a reason. Putting a row of bricks around the outside, or plastic netting tied on, could give little humans a leg-up to get in and drown. Even if you don't have your own kids, just be aware of it if people visit. Perspex on the inside is a sensible and safe idea as there are no toe-holds for littlies! Deb
  5. Hi, We have a white pattern Aussie Shepherd pup whose entire head is white, so we would like to have her hearing tested properly. We think she can hear, as she seems to turn towards sounds (eg. if we call her) but want to get it tested before she goes to a new home. Does anyone in the Newcastle area do BAER testing, or would we have to go to Sydney? And if it is only available in Sydney - where?? And from what age can pups be tested? Thank you! Deb
  6. What a lovely friend Bebe found in you, dogmad. Run and run and run now, little pup! :D
  7. Yeah we had some stupid drunk teens laying all over the front lawn a few weeks before xmas they were slowly making their way down the street so I let the big scary black mutt run the fence barking at them which moved a few of the squeally girls along the boys were abit more stubborn so then I opened my front window and pretented to be on the phone and said very loudly "hello officer I live at XXXXX st cessnock there are a bunch of drunk teens out the front" this made them run for their lives :D :D Go Sammy! I try to be SO careful with our dogs here and not let them bark for too long, as I know we have more dogs than the Council would probably like us to. My worst culprit is the dominant min pin, but he has collars or comes inside if he is too noisy. My Maremma pup will trot up to the front fence and woof if someone walks past, but so far she is just doing her job and doesn't keep going (like the min pin would!! ). Because we foster dogs now I really keep a lid on anything that might annoy our neighbours, as most of them just aren't animal people (not sure why they are living on 2 or 3 acres out in the sticks if they don't like animals....). Definitely NO night-time barking allowed!
  8. What a sweet boy, skyehaven! Looks like they are some decent-sized paws to grow into!
  9. Far out, I'd better get busy with entries by the sounds of it. When is the Newcastle showground one on? Bec - you must be feeling relieved now your work is all sorted! Aziah we are doing Morisset (if I get my entries in the mail tomorrow, that is). And probably most of the rest as well.
  10. Wow - heaps on around here in the next few months! Your trip to the States sound exciting, Aziah. Who's looking after your gorgeous babies?? LOTG - we haven't looked at DOL pointscores yet - all I have at the moment is babies (well, Chester is now a minor so we might look at it soon).
  11. Wow, Bec - Erskine Park! Thanks for the table offer! Is it only for toys or can I put Aurea on it too?? We'll do Medowie, too, as it's just around the corner for us. Probably Maitland & Cessnock - I'll have to have a look at all the dates properly.
  12. Hey Aziah, Looks like we'll all be there around 4pm on Wednesday - so the more the merrier. Can your friend make it around then? I'm guessing we'll be there for an hour or so! Can anyone bring a table please??
  13. Okay so 4 o'clock or thereabouts on Wednesday next week? Thursday sounds good re set up, but I don't think I can make it in 2 days in a row with the kids! Yay, Dotty - I might get to meet you if you make it Wednesday! I'm bringing Chester and Aurea - she is losing her puppy coat and getting a lovely adult coat on her body, but her head is still huge & fluffy! I'm thinking this is not going to be her best age for showing, but I really need to get her out and about. Bec, thank you so much for the entry forms today. I'm going to be busy filling them out tomorrow! You can collect your payment next Wednesday! Deb
  14. Thanks Bec! 10 should get me out of trouble, because I've only got Aurea & Chester Bear to enter at the moment. I'll give you my email address too, Steph - I'd like to see your Word doc! AshleyB gave me the Great Rugs tip too! Isn't this forum (and our thread ) great??? Thank you! Deb
  15. And I just tried to ring Dogs NSW to order my pre-printed forms but they don't reopen until Tuesday, 12th January!!!!!
  16. Thanks Steph, just found that. Also found that I HAVE LOST MY ENTRY FORM BOOK!!!!! I'll have to see if I can borrow a couple. It's always on my desk, and now it has disappeared. Bugger, bugger, bugger. Download this program and print your own: http://www.lottobreakers.com.au/dogsoft/ It is free and I love it. Makes it so much easier as once you have entered al the dogs details and numbers etc you don't have to put them in everytime. Only thing is it seems to default to ACT for state when printing unless you print from the rpint preview screen. I downloaded it, but we have an Apple and it doesn't want to work on my computer!
  17. Oooohh - thanks Piper I'll have a look at that!! Bec has kindly offered me some that I can pick up tomorrow if I need to, but I'll look at this because I need more soon. Thanks!
  18. I'm also not a vet, but when I have had dogs with upset tummies the vets have recommended fasting the dog for 24 hours (with access to water at all times) to give the irritated intestinal lining a chance to settle down and then introducing the bland diet.
  19. Thanks Steph, just found that. Also found that I HAVE LOST MY ENTRY FORM BOOK!!!!! I'll have to see if I can borrow a couple. It's always on my desk, and now it has disappeared. Bugger, bugger, bugger.
  20. Wow it's a marathon catching up on this thread after a couple of days! Steph - congratulations on Morgie's RUBOB!!! LOTG - well done on surviving your first show with Lola. Welcome to showing, Fiona. Can't wait to meet your new pup (and your big guy). I'm hoping to cross the bridge the other way at some point and have a look at the obedience trials too. I'm at the (not so cool now ) toy ring next to Bec, and will be doing runs up to the working dog ring with my big white fluffy baby (Maremma). Have entries closed yet for Morisset end of January? Better get my butt into gear and enter some more shows. Any idea when Hillsborough training is on again? Deb
  21. Hi spottychick, It's upsetting to have that happen. My latest foster dog bit me and drew blood when I tried to pull him off humping my 4 month old pup, and also had one outburst over food. I assume that both these cases were a form of resource guarding (I tried to take him away from sex and food, how bad is that!! ). Otherwise he is sweet and affectionate and very submissive (rolls over on his back every time he comes to me). Maybe your boy was guarding his bed? I've just been regularly letting my boy know that he will be fed once he is waiting patiently, and that it is okay for me to handle his food while he's eating - that I'm not going to snatch it away from him. And the humping bit, well we took care of that in a different way as soon as the vet opened! I'm not a dog psychologist, but think it may have something to do with insecurity? I'm sure Cesar could help (and also plenty of DOLers with more experience, especially since Tango is a large dog)!! Deb
  22. Thank you Sticks - I knew they were owned by Mars, but for the life of me could not find a phone number!!! I'll try them on Monday.
  23. Hi, I have been trying to get onto Advance to organise puppy packs (including food) to send off with our Aussie puppies when they leave home. I had one email response asking for my mailing address so they could send me a breeder application. That was at least 6 weeks ago - and nothing since! Our puppies are 4 weeks old and I would like to have something organised for when they go. I have been unable to find a contact phone number, and email just seems plain useless. Does anyone else use Advance and have any tips on how to get them to help me out??? We have always used Advance and now the puppies have started on the rehydrateable food I don't really want to switch brands. Any suggestions? Thank you. Deb
  24. I don't know who you used but I have had my dogs with CalmDog at Fullerton Cove quite a few times, and they have always taken great care of them. ;)
