Okay, a greyhound CAN be more laid-back! So far back it's upside-down in fact! -
I Fell In Love With A Greyhound Yesterday
The Ark replied to SeeGee's topic in General Dog Discussion
I couldn't resist putting in my two cents' worth. Here are a couple of pics of our gorgeous greyhound girl, Colour, taken this morning. How much happier and laid back can a dog be??? -
Yep, pretty easy if you can sew at all. Just make sure they are nice and snug, otherwise the willy will sneak out....

Welcome to the thread, Hollie! I look forward to meeting you around the shows. I did post in the Aussie thread, but neglected my other "home" thread - Miss Stella got 3rd in Baby Puppy sweepies at Erskine Park on Saturday!!! There were 31 pups in the class, so I was SO happy with her! Niles' brother got first (go the heebie-jeebies) and the lovely toller pup got 2nd. 3 weeks til our next show at Gunnedah - Ash you are off to Gunnedah next weekend?? After that we are doing the Brisbane Waters one at Morisset, then the Sydney Kennel Club ones at the end of July, then the big weekend at Taree and then Port Stephens at Hillsborough. That's all I've got planned so far (but not yet entered, other than the Moree one). -
My 5yo is playing his DS and has the Dogz game. All innocent, I thought, as I spelt out the name he wanted for his dog, and he clicked his way through it....... But then it says on the screen: "Today we are going to a special place. Where, you ask?" THE PETSHOP!!! That is where their cute little puppies come from! He has just had a very quick reinforcement that the petshop is NOT where puppies come from!! This is how it starts! No going to a breeder or a shelter - the Petshop!

" Dogs On Show" - Open Day At Erskine Park, N S W
The Ark replied to Dogs Are Forever's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi Whippetsmum It was great to meet you. I didn't know many people at all yesterday, but had a great day nonetheless! Good idea about the hats or badges, by the way. I am a member of a poultry forum, and was always a bit embarrassed to wear a chicken hat at outings - but I'll wear a dog one! -
Allergic Reaction After Having Vaccination
The Ark replied to Outkast1972's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Good luck with the bub!!! Hope your pup is okay too. The only problem I've had has been localised swelling with my latest Aussie pup and one of the min pins. It hung around for about a week, then disappeared. -
Non Dog Related - Vale "just Shameless"
The Ark replied to lilyandjazz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wow, RIP Shameless. At least he has plenty of progeny out there to carry on for him! What did he die from? -
Hello there Bec! Colour the greyhound is finally looking sleek instead of skin-and-boney. The trick with her has been Eagle Pack adult (the Power formula is a good one - can get it at Pet Shop Boyz), with mince (just enough to make it all appetizing), and very occasional (when I remember) lamb offcuts and sardines. Goat milk has also helped us with the odd pup/dog here and there (if Toby would like to try some goat's milk let me know as I bought a few bottles!). ;) (Sorry I've had a very delayed reaction to your thread. ) I'd be careful with the really concentrated fat options because of pancreatitis - Mum & Dad's foxie has recurring bouts of this, and we've finally convinced them (well, their vet did) to reduce his fat intake and it's made all the difference.

Hi, I am looking for someone to give my little foster boy, Aden, a haircut. He is a little maltese x, and just needs a light trim, mostly around his feet/ears/eyes to help keep him clean & dry in this awful, muddy weather. I have no hairdressing talent whatsoever, so won't even attempt to clip/trim him so was wondering if anyone knows of a reputable groomer who may offer special rates to rescue? I haven't had to use a groomer before, and we are about 30 min from Newcastle, about 20 min from Maitland (and about 10 min from Raymond Terrace if that helps). Thanks. Deb

Hitting The Ring For The First Time

I'm not going to make it as I am being a good mummy! My poor kids haven't played soccer for weeks, and one of the coaches has organised a game at the indoor soccer place at Thornton, so that's where we'll be.... -
I'm pretty sure our Aussie Shepherd boy didn't actually notice that anything had happened.... We tried to keep him quiet, but 24 hours was his limit! My husband took his stitches out tonight and all is fine!! He didn't look like licking/chewing his stitches - I wonder (and I am just wondering....) if dogs are more likely to chew their little op site if they are contained for extended periods than if they are just allowed to move around as normal?

Sounds good! I am a hot choccy & tea person myself, but will bring my own supplies - would appreciate the hot water though! I don't have a snuggie yet! -

So who showed at Hillsborough tonight?? I piked, too hard with 3 kids, ballet lessons, rain, rain, rain, whippet who needed to be cat-tested, rain, rain, mud, etc.... -
I would really want to know more about any person who was going to take one of my puppies. Have her fill out a "puppy application" form before even thinking about taking a deposit.

That sounds exciting LOTG - I have a 2010 Dogs NSW show schedule - not sure of the link. If you PM me your email address I can email the document to you (unless someone else can give you the link). -
Thanks iluvgundogs! Anybody else?? PMs are fine.

Oooh, the sun's out here! Hopefully the rain will hold off until we get set up today. I'm not sure how I'm going to do tomorrow afternoon's show as I realised this morning that my son has ballet lessons at 4.30 at Bolwarra. I might just be able to squeeze Dragon's class in and then bolt. I've already pulled the kids out of too many things to get to shows (and they'll be leaving school early tomorrow too ) so I don't want him to miss ballet again. We will definitely be doing the whole thing Saturday PM though - raining or not! -
Help Needed Transport For Whippet From Newcastle/central Coast
The Ark replied to Daisy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi again Daisy, I have PM'd Dogmad and said that I am happy to meet Newcastle Dog Rescue around Maitland/Newcastle tomorrow and temp care this boy until arrangements can be made to get him at least as far as Sydney. My offer of transport to Erskine Park on 12th June still stands, if someone could pick him up from the showgrounds there on that day and take him further south. Otherwise I can look after him here until alternative arrangements are in place. Please let me know by return PM. I have told Dogmad I'll ring her first thing tomorrow morning. I am approx 20 min from Maitland, so it's not a big stretch for me to meet whoever is picking him up from Muswellbrook. -

:D Re the Vislas - my other min pin has a chocolate nose so looks even more like a mini Visla - just needs his ears pinned down. They have the same coat and everything! Maybe you could handle for us. Here are some pics of Changwe - mini Visla?? -
We have been lucky enough to have great breeders/mentors in our chosen breeds, and also great contact so far with at least two puppy buyers! We've only had one litter, and I must admit being a bit disappointed with the only puppy buyer who hasn't answered my emails now the pups are 6 months old.

I want a Viszla!! But no..... I've been busy today trying to remind Dragon that he is a show dog and not a demolition expert. Please tell me it is not going to be raining between tomorrow lunch time and Saturday midnight!! Sparky! :D Oh look, there are some people who have a tailed Aussie who looks just like Sparky!! Sorry, I've been reading the "jokes for kids" threads and my sense of humour is all twisted now.
