  1. Thinking 8.30 Bec ....... ETA - yep, just checked the gazette - 8.30. Mine aren't washed yet.
  2. Where are we Bec? Usual spot?? I am going to try to get there really early so I'm not panicking. We'll see how that plan goes..... Only Chester Bear, Stella and Dragon - none of whom are washed yet, by the way.
  3. That is an amazing video - brought tears to my eyes to see how trusting and gorgeous the greys are! Well done GAP and Crowded House (now I've got that song stuck in my head )
  4. I have a skinny one! She needs to be fed at least 3 times a day (she's on Eagle Pack, but we've tried other foods too) to really keep any reasonable cover on her, but she is happy and healthy so I haven't worried too much. Oh to have her metabolism.......
  5. Thanks Bec. I'm glad Toby is keeping his coat. :D
  6. Can you please tarp for me too Bec? Pretty please??
  7. Nawww, thanks Ash & Bec. Very proud of the boy. I'm going to rest him on and off for a while now (not completely though) so I can get some working dog action. I think Chester is a slow-maturing type, so I'm looking forward to see what a bit more time will do for him. Wow I can't believe Niles is in Minor already! And can't wait to meet Martha too, and catch up with Toby & Jazz, get to meet Flynn too (finally!).... so much happening. Should be a great day!
  8. Hey Dotty, Yep I'm planning to be there - both shows now as my 6yo's soccer isn't on (yay!) so she can come with me. Stella is still in Baby until 10th Sept. Aurea is in season and I was still going to show her but she will be smack bang in the middle of it so she can stay at home. Hope Peachie stays well so we see you there!
  9. Congratulations Bindii & Fletcher - amazing achievement!!! He looks beautiful! Just a little note of my own - my special Chester Bear titled today with an 8 point DCC and RUBOB. Very proud of my little man, who still has some maturing to do so I look forward to keeping him out and about as he grows. I might post this in the min pin thread too, as nothing much ever happens in there...... Anyway, just wanted to share with the people who have been along for the ride. Many thanks to those of you who have dragged Chester out of his trolley and handled him in the ring for me at times when I've been way up the other end of the ground with the big fluffies.
  10. Wow - the people you run into on here!! :D Cousin Aurea sends licks & cuddles x 14. Deb ETA: +1 for Wombat of course.
  11. Wow I do like that dress in the "close but not right" shot!
  12. I wondered why my greyhound was standing sulking with her head on my chair just now (now she's resting it next to the keyboard). It is because my husband is sitting on "her" lounge chair. Nawww, now the poor girl has lowered herself and gone to lay on a dog bed (glaring at my husband). Yesterday I had a little nap on the lounge with one min pin curled at my chest, one behind my knees and one on top of my head with his nose in my ear! Very snuggly.
  13. Maybe he is anxious in certain circumstances. Like being called onto the bed - was Rover still up there? Maybe he was giving Riddick the evil eye (or some more subtle sign) and so the puppy was a bit nervous about remaining up there even though you had called him up? At the dog park - being a youngster, maybe he is just a bit anxious about being with the other dogs and is showing that by panting (even though he looks like he's fitting in and playing)?
  14. Yay - I'm off to find one of these signs. Perfect for our place as we don't have a big problem with children coming in, more likely to be dumb adults.
  15. Have you had to do a lot of this, Mrs RB? The "dogs running free" sign sounds like a good idea - it won't stop all idiots but might stop meter readers etc just bumbling in and leaving gates open/not properly locked. Anyone know where you can buy them, or did you print your own?
  16. Hard to tell who are the stupid people though. The mother might be feral but the kid might be the next Beethoven. And what about the feral people who have a yard full of uncontrolled dogs of whatever breed who attack your child, you have just exemempted them too. We let stupid people do all sorts of things, in fact we make them vote !!!!!!! Agree, but tough to do. Yes I know - but we can dream. Voting is a whole other issue.... BTW - I don't really know when I last let my children near a feral house with a yard full of uncontrolled dogs, but I get your point! Just really sick of idiots at the moment!!!!!
  17. I think dogs should be able to eat stupid people without legal recourse. It should be enshrined in legislation somewhere.

    Bad Cough

It sounds like she may have kennel cough (going only on the way you've described her coughing then throwing up). Just a guess, but that seems to be how they cough when they have kennel cough - basically a doggie cold, but like people, some individuals are susceptible to secondary infections, so I'd see your vet. And kennel cough is apparently doing the rounds at the moment.
  19. I don't have a problem with the disposal of bodies as such, particularly if the horse is PTS on its own property - but I can't stomach the terror that horses must endure on their way to an abbatoir.
  20. I asked this question of Laucke Mills (who make Uncle Alber's & Great Barko) and was assured that they don't use any horse meat/by-products in their dog food either. There are enough alternatives - we don't need to support the slaughter of horses for pet food.
  21. Hi there, Does anyone know which groups are in which rings for the show tomorrow (Sunday)? I know I found their ring layout on a website somewhere once, but now I can't find it. I need Working Dogs & Toys. My prayer is that they are next to each other.
  22. Our pack consists of the following dogs 3 x min pins (1 desexed male, 2 entire males) 1 x greyhound (desexed female) 4 x Aussie Shepherds (1 entire adult female, 1 x entire 7mo male pup, 1 x desexed 7mo male pup, 1 x entire 4 mo female pup) 1 x Maremma (entire female, 10mo) I think that's all. Most of ours play together unsupervised, except for the boy Aussies who are WAY too rough to be allowed to play with the little dogs if I'm not watching. The 3 older Aussies are usually in a yard with the Maremma - again, the baby Aussie is just a bit little for me to feel comfortable leaving her for too long with the ruffians. The greyhound shares a bed with the Aussie pup, and will tell her off if she gets too annoying - but the pup (Stella) adores her! The min pins and the greyhound all get along wonderfully, and the Maremma girl sucks up to the greyhound at every opportunity. I met some other greyhound owners when I was walking the other day and they were amazed that we let Colour (our grey) hang out with all the other dogs. They seemed to think a greyhound should be separated. I told them all about Colour's "family", and hope that their own girl might get a bit more socialisation if they loosen up. Poor thing. The min pins boss everyone around. One little boy we have here at the moment is a bit unstable, and it was funny yesterday to see him barking at the Maremma while all she wanted to do was play with him. She is very gentle with the little ones, and will lay down to play with them. She's a bit rougher with the big Aussies though. At the moment the Maremma, the min pins and the Aussie pup are all playing in our big front yard, with me just checking them every now and then. I know accidents can happen, but I also know that the Maremma isn't the type of dog to charge at the little ones and bowl them over so I think the risk is minimal. At night, we usually have the greyhound, min pins and Aussie pup inside together with no issues at all. Last night the Maremma joined them, and again - all was fine. Occasionally we'll let all 9 dogs out for a play in the front yard, and it is an awesome sight to see them all together. I love it.
