Hi everyone I just wanted to touch base and let you all know that spey clinic will be starting up again soon. We start the week of 28th April and each week we will have 10 spots available. Our ideal preference is female dogs, or male dogs. We will have a few spots available for cats but as they are a bit more difficult in this environment we will not be able to take too many. The animals should be at least 4 months of age and in good health. For those who haven't used spey clinic before, the costs involved are as follows: Spey/castrate cat $50 Spey/castrate dog $60 F4 $20 C5 $20 Microchip $15 The general plan for the week is as follows: Monday - pick up from Fernleigh Rd Kennels at 8am sharp. Or animals meet at the CSU Veterinary Clinical Centre at 8.30am for admission. On this day the animals will be health checked, vaccinated, chipped etc and observed for any illness. Tuesday - first 5 will be desexed Wednesday - second 5 will be desexed Thursday - discharge of all animals. They can be dropped at Fernleigh Rd or picked up from the VCC. To book animals in - please PM or email me: [email protected] Please include a name for the animal, all info eg. age, breed etc. Bookings need to be made the earlier the better. Please let me know where they will be on the Monday, and where they are to go on the Thursday. If you are a new rescue group - please let me know your billing details and I can make up a file for you. Please note - we are quite low on staff to run spey clinic this year. This means that we won't be able to accommodate any requests beyond what is organised as listed above. I am going to have to do all the running around, and I already have a full time job in another area, so my time is going to be limited and we need this to be as streamlined as possible!! The first session runs for 6 weeks. There is then a mid semester break (I don't have the return date yet, but will let you know closer to the date) If you have any other questions, please let me know.

I was asking the same question. I am going to get our RSPCA contact here to try to contact ACT tomorrow and work something out. Then if that works, hopefully I could find get some help with transport to Canberra! Fingers crossed :)

Hi all We have a cat being held on behalf of RSPCA in our clinic in Wagga. She is a gorgeous girl who has found herself in an unfortunate position. Recently the Wagga RSPCA branch closed and they have nobody to foster her or any methods of transport. If she can get to Sydney to an RSPCA shelter she will be safe, but I can't find a way to get her there. RSPCA are happy to sign her over to a rescue group to find her a home. She is a really sweet and friendly cat. She hasn't been desexed as yet, but I can arrange to have this done at no cost to the rescue group that takes her on. I think she deserves a chance, and I don't want to see her put down so I'm trying my hardest to find someone that can help her. If you think you can help, please let me know urgently K

Hi everyone I just need to let you know that there are a few changes being made. This coming week (3/6) is the last week before holidays. Spey clinic will resume 15th July and run til 19th August. I am going to be overseas from 16th June til 15th July. As such I will not be available to help too much as far as temp caring etc goes. Also, Dr Margaret Michelsen is going to be taking over all the bookings for spey clinic. If you wish to make a booking, please contact her via email - [email protected]. Please do not leave bookings til the last minute. We have 10 spaces each week and we like to have everything organised before Friday PM. When contacting Margaret, you need to advise the description of the dog, what vet work they require (vaccination, worming, chip) and also where they will be Monday morning, and where they need to go on Friday morning. We greatly appreciate your assistance with spey clinic. This year has been a little bit stressful as we have had a lot of animals fall off the list, sometimes at the last minute, sometimes without any notification. We need to make sure that a good line of communication is maintained. If we are left short on a Monday morning it means a lot of scrambling and also the potential that students aren't able to complete their assessment (which is what spey clinic basically is). I greatly appreciate all your assistance, and I will still be around to help temp care etc when I get back from the US. if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Hi all Spey clinic is gearing up once again. As far as I know, prices are the same. Same process - PM me your animals you wish to get desexed etc. Please ensure when you contact me that you list ALL work that will be required. We are able to chip, C5, F4, worm, desex. Any other small extras should be able to be accommodated. I think there are 7-8 spaces per week. First in best dressed. When booking the patients in, please let me know where they will be on Monday morning, and where they will need to go on the Friday afternoon. Hi all. It seems there has been some confusion at my end about the costings for spey clinic. In our meeting there was a discussion regarding the increase of the cost of the clinic to students and staff (the only other people allowed into spey clinic). Somehow, the list I gave you guys, is actually the list for the non-rescue animals. I do apologise for the confusion. Please note the costs to rescue groups as follows: Spey - cat & dog $50 Castrate - dog $50 Castrate - cat $30 F4/C5 vaccination $20 Microchip - $15 Once again, sorry for the stuff up. Hi everyone. Just wanted to touch base to let you all know about the commencement of spey clinic. Start date is 23rd April. Will run for 6 weeks til week starting 28th May. Will recommence 9th July and run until week starting 13th August. As per last year, I will be able to take your bookings through DOL, or alternatively my email: [email protected] We will have 9 spaces per week available, and ideally the list would be finalised by the Friday before they are due to go in. I have discussed the clinic with the staff at Fernleigh Road Boarding Kennels, and they are keen to assist us again this year. The only concern they have voiced, is that we need to minimise the amount of time the animals are staying at the kennels. Basically, as you all know, there are limited spaces and if an animal stays an extended period at the kennels before and after its spey clinic visit, it will prevent them from allowing more animals into the kennels and into spey clinic. So you will just have to be mindful of the situation, and try to get the animals out as quickly as possible to make way for the next lot. Price update: Please note the following price updates. These updates are due to the fact that all of our costs have been steadily increasing and unfortunately it has meant we have had to increase the cost of spey clinic as follows: Spey: $75 Castrate: $50 Cat castrate: $30 C5 vaccination: $35 Worming: $4 per 10kg tablet Microchip: $25 When you are booking in your animal, please confirm in writing what work is required eg. vaccination & worming. Hi everyone I have been a bit quiet of late, but for good reason. 4 weeks ago I fell off my horse and broke my elbow (radial head)! I have had surgery and a long recovery. I am almost at the point where I can use my hand to some extent. I have kept off the forums while I was unwell and I didn't want to know what was going on while I was unable to help. Just to let you all know, I should be able to help with temp care in the next week or so. Hopefully by then I can clean a litter tray! My limit will be one cat per week. So if I can help with the cats coming out of the Glenfield pound, please just let me know. Kalindi

I'm really sad. I have entered my boy, but he hurt his leg last week and is currently in a cast. No fractures and most likely just a really bad strain. But still, a lame dog that has to perform a miracle to go. I was so looking forward to going. I haven't been to a show in ages
