  1. Friends just put there dog there last weekend and said it was fantastic. He is the most spoilt dog in the universe and they were really happy. Said the staff were really lovely and did an amazing job. If I ever have to board then it is where my dogs will go
  2. It's taken me a couple of days to be able to write this, but I am so sad to say that our gorgeous Henry has left us. Henry had a lot of people who loved him and were interested in his wellbeing after being found in such horrific condition all those years ago. Over the last two weeks I had noticed that Henry had gone from bouncing around the house to wanting to sleep all the time. He was still bright, but I could tell that he wasn't himself and something seemed off. A vet visit and blood tests 2 weeks ago, showed hypothyroidism and so the vet started him on some meds for that. Last Monday night we noticed some blood coming from his mouth after he had been outside to toilet. The vet thought it might be a one off and so we kept an eye on him. On Wednesday night last week he had a terrible night and seemed to be having trouble sleeping. I was up from 2 in the morning with him and he wouldn't settle and seemed very uncomfortable. Thirsday morning we were off to the vet who decided that xrays would be appropriate. They did xrays which showed nothing but then whilst sedated decided to have a look at his throat. When they opened up his mouth they found a tumour the size of an avocado at the back of his mouth. It was the obvious cause of his breathing issues  Henry went peacefully in our arms last Thuirsday night and we have been devatstaed since. He was the dog who I had to beg the pound manager to let me take out and the dog who we were all so glad that he was given that chance. Henry had been treated so awfully yet he maintained this amazing temperament. We never saw him get upset and Henry did not have a bad bone in his body. So many people on DOL made Henry's existence possible and it would be too hard to try and name everyone. But thank you all so much for giving him that chance and helping us save him. DCH Animal Adoptions in particular deserve a huge thanks as they agreed to let me take him out knowing that he would possibly end up significant vet costs. I really can't thank MeganM enough and also Mr WP who finally gave in that night years and years ago when I tossed and turned talking about this poor dog I had seen in such a horrific condition. Mr WP finally told me to go to sleep and in the morning, go get the dog! :) He was truly an amazing one of a kind and our lives will not be the same without him
  3. Where should I look to order it from overseas? I've just been buying the small containers from Natural Pet Store and at $30 a month for 3 dogs I wasn't too phased by the price Any saving would be good though as we're saving for property at the moment
  4. We have a couple of dog bed frames that we are about to throw in the council pick up. It occurred to me that rescue might like this as you could probably have a shade sail place whack a cover on for you. If you are interested then please let me know. Council pick up early Wed morning so I would need indications before then :)
  5. Erny, bones are out all together because of behavioral issues. Plus we've had some scary bloat and blockage experiences I was just reading a US mag and came across an ad for a gel called Tropiclean. I googled and found lots of discussion on both that and Petzlife gel. Has anyone tried these also? I've found Petzlife in aust and thinking of trying it out in conjunction with plaque off http://www.tropiclean.net/products/clean-teeth-gel.php http://www.greenpet.com.au/search.php?search_query=Oral&x=0&y=0 I do think the plaque off is but I'm keen to avoid them all having to have dentals if possible
  6. Pretty bad on some of the back teeth We can't do bones here and the dental type dry food gets vomited back up unfortunately
  7. We love the D1000's. Had ours about 3 years now and still going strong
  8. I purchased some of the Plaque Off being stocked by the Natural Pet Store. Besides adding it to my dogs food is there anything else I need to do to help the removal of tartar?
  9. Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. After reading all the comments I decided to try it for my guys and so far so good. My really really fussy dog is cleaning his bowl out and not fussing at all over his dinner. We've only been using it a little over a week but it looks like it could be a big winner for us
  10. It might be worth also updating her info to detail other characteristics such as - is she a barker - any good with other dogs - any good with cats - expsure to livestock - any other issues such as trying to escape etc - good with kids? I've always wanted a GSD but my neighbours got one and it has put me off them as she never shuts up! Beautiful dog though
  11. I think I am leaning towards the idea of a painting or drawing. She has photo's and paintings all through her house of her animals and I think would be something she would cherish. So any more suggestions on artists???? There's a dol'er who does them isn;t there?
  12. Can anyone recommend some memorial gifts for a friend who recently lost her beloved 16.5yr old boy. I'm not sure what I could do or get????
  13. Our dogs used to run the fence because of the neighbours dogs so we just put in another smaller fence about 1.5m off the boundary. Just cheap chicken wire and some garden stakes. But just make sure you set it up properly as one of ours used to get behind it and then couldn't work out how to get out  In summer that could be a major issue Otherwise I woud very quietly set up either a ping string or electric fence (electric fence being something the RPSCA woud not approve of in a suburban environment)
  14. Of course we would love to see you :) Send me a pm and I will shoot you through my details again. Pep would love to see you also
  15. How is it any different to say Pets 1 having their thread down in commercial marketplace? I can't believe you would begrudge people the opportunity to attend an info night with someone like Bruce
  16. We have loved this product and found it very good when Henry was still recovering. Unfortunately with such huge dogs it has not been financially viable for us to continue using it. I would reccomend it to anyone with skin issues with their dogs. Gets a big from us
  17. Esky!!!! Pepe send his love and kisses to the lady who saved him xoxo
  18. I have used it before with no effects at all. Could they have eaten something else possibly? Does anyone know if it can be used in conjunction with Advocate?
  19. Dog fence I have used this product on two properties. It still needs to be supported with a 3V electric ping wire. Here is the same product used in a goat fence with electric wire. There is a heavier gauge fence though, and that is usually used by contractors. But you just lost someone's maremma through that fence didn't you? So that is probably a good example of fencing that doesn't work? Following this topic with interest as we plan to move to acreage this year No. Typical. Different properties, but go right ahead, just be yourself. And I did not lose anybody's Maremma. The dog is at home with its owner. The goat fence I have pictured and which is featured in the third photo from espinays first link has worked 100% :p But what did your topic title state? "lost female maremma" - http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/230766-lost-maremma-sheepdog/page__p__5620946__fromsearch__1#entry5620946 What was that you said in the topic title... lost???????????? Now if I am not me PW then who should I be? Who do you like to be??

  21. Maybe he doesn't like it? Not all dogs like all foods. My DDB will eat anything pretty much. My fluffy boy took forever to eat BH and now hoovers down his Eaglepack. Maybe try a different feed to see if that is the issue
  22. I bought these when our little one hurt his back and needed help getting on and off the lounge. They are quite flimsy and even he didn't trust them
  23. I am such a worry wart I would either erect a front fence and make it so that a child could not enter or I would change my back fencing to something like colorbond and then padlock it. My fences are 6 - 7 ft colorbond and have had padlocks on them since the day we bought the place It is a crappy situation for you though as the mother should be controlling her kids!
