  1. Just after some thoughts and this one warrants a vet visit so I will be on to that in the morning but appreciate any thoughts in the meantime Pepe (fox x chi we think) has been holding his back leg up since we got home tonight. He will put it down for periods but seems to limp for a bit and the starts holding it in the air again. Apparent from the leg in the air, there are no obvious signs of discomfort I know it all sounds rather vague but does anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on or any similar experiences?
  2. Sas we use MSM in Henry's meals for his joints. Not sure about for skin but it does help him with his stiffness
  3. MSM Cream? Tell me more? If you head down to OT and we are talking about skincare. I'm using the Moo Goo MSM cream with amazing results for me and some good results with Pepe's itching. It's this one - http://www.moogoo.com.au/shop/products/MSM...hing-Cream.html I only thought to try it after reading through the testimonials and seeing someone saying it helped their dog. I know for a fact what causes Pepe itching (seasonal) so I just needed to find something soothing and this seems to be doing the trick so far
  4. We used Megaderm for Henry when he was first rescued and it was helpful. However there is a product the greyhound folk use called Sprint Oil which is about 1/4 of the price of Megaderm and we found it just as effective I've just started trialling a human MSM cream on my little fella who always get the itchies and have been having some good results so far
  5. Thank you for your comments I am really thinking I should just get the Sigma as I can probably get that for under $1K but the Canon is around 2300? It's not like I am a professional or that great so the Sigma would serve me well?
  6. I really really would like the Canon lens but the price tag is making me hold back Is there a big difference between the Canon and Sigma? The Sigma I think is about 1K cheaper ...
  7. Anyone ever had a dog who hates bones? Charlie hates bones and will not eat them. I mean he might eat the occasional chicken wing but not a big thick bone that will give his teeth a clean. A friend who works for a pet store gave us some Advance dental bickies to try with him. Well that didn't work - he vomited them all up at midnight last night His teeth are a bit rank and smelly so I was thinking of some doggy toothpaste?? Has anyone used any with success? I'll take him to the vet for a scale and clean also but looking for options for ongoing care as it is becoming a pain the more he refuses to eat the stuff that will help clean his chompers
  8. Your words were so beautiful and show the amazing bond you have I wish there was something we could do
  9. I'm so sorry, I think of them every day and of your family I wish I had the words to express how I feel
  10. All you're doing is making your breed look worse. +1 If you are the example of a pitbull owner and their general attitude then don't expect a change in BSL... You sound just as bad as the numnuts that get in the paper advocating for breed bans, it's just your nonsense is from the opposite perspective In this case the family knew the dog so really it is highly probable it was a pitbull... so rather than focusing on the relentless rubbish of always posting "oh everyone blames pitbulls" maybe focus on the true reasons these attacks keep occuring - owners etc No wonder I am not a member of the EDBA anymore And Lo Pan you can sit here and insult people till you are blue in the face, and you can accuse people of wanting BSL, but at the end of the day the anti BSL movement is losing supporters because of people with YOUR attitude. It's the relentless bleating from people like you who always claim it could never be a pitbull that turned me off wanting to do anything further to support our cause. Trying to use a defence that pitbulls never attack humans is just stupid - they do. Every breed is capable of attacking a human
  11. I hope he is home and feeling on top of the world again soon Bub
  12. Someone who has at least done some study and has qualifications - be they Australian or overseas One of my pet peeves is seeing people reccommend dog trainers to people with dogs who have serious issues and need a behaviorist. There's a particular person on here who is constantly doing it because of personal reasons At the end of the day, the dogs suffer because of it.... Some issues are beyond a dog trainer, you need to go that extra step and see someone who has the experience and knowledge of behaviour Oh and my favourite was someone who kept telling me she was a behaviorist, because she had watched Cesar Milan DVD's and read a few books, if it wasn't so damn scary it would be laughable
  13. There is no-one on the coast that I would use We travel to K9 Force when we need help. It's only a couple of hours and we make a day otu of it by heading up into Bilpin to the roadside farm stalls as well
  14. Well 3 weeks in and absolutely no change and if anything she is probably worse We are running out of options and I am so confused and really have no idea what to do What sort of quality of life is it when you are constantly peeing everywhere
  15. Things may have changed since I worked for the NDTF, but as far as I know ADT was never a venue for practical training for the distance learnign students. Practical training was done at Wellington Park Kennels and while there were visits to ADT to see how the club and classes were run, it formed only a small component of one module and other training clubs were also attended. ETA as I already told you Moohmooh, ADT and NDTF are NOT one and the same. And NDTF are not the training body anyways??? The training is done by another company called Precise Training then you get accredited with NDTF. I think that's how it works Edit - sorry it isn;t a law firm, just another company that belongs to that group
  16. Just a quick update - no change and changing bedding about 3 or 4 times a day Spoke to the vet today and he said to give it another week and then we need to consider either another drug therapy or look at surgical options *sigh* I'm really not too keen on the idea of surgery, she just had a major operation for intersucception about about 2 months ago and it really knocked her about... I'll update again in a week or so - hopefully with positive news!
  17. That's Ok I don't mind questions, it's always good for other people to look back and read as well I actually can't remember the name of the other drug I was told so if someone mentions it I can probably confirm it Rappie thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. Maybe I should try doggy yoga
  18. Yes we did. we used it for about 12 months and it was fantastic but about 2 months ago it stopped being effective. On vet advice we increased the dosage (and the number of times a day we administered it) but had no improvement There was another drug option given to us but the negatives for us were that 1 in 50 dogs showed signs of aggression and it was quite confusing on how you had to administer it
  19. Well we had a dry night last night which was fantastic but then this afternoon she wet through her bed again... I'll wait another week and do an update to let everyone know how it goes Rappie I read somewhere (cannot remember where) that if it is not effective then the combination of Suprelorin and Propalin could be the way to go... It's a lot to be throwing at her system
  20. She is on MAAH. Started at 1 tablet 2 times a week and now she is up to 1 tablet evry second day. There is another drug available but it is very expensive and must be given 3 times a day for ever. I work and I am not around all day and the cost is prohibitive. I will check out the rest of the forum. I am new to Dogzonline so thanks for the advice Have you tried Propalin? It's a liquid you give twice a day (or sometimes 3 times a day). We used to use Propalin and it did work but is no longer effective so we are now trialling the suprelorin implant Our girl is still inside at night - we just bought a cot mattress, then put a cot mattress protector on it (we bought a few so we could wash and change them frequently) and then we just chuck a sheet or towel on top of the protector as well eta - i'll probably be getting some vetbed as well as it looks like a really good product
  21. Sorry to start another thread on this but wanted one that was specific to this treatment I am wondering if anyone has used this implant for bitch incontinence and how long after it was implanted before you saw an effect We ended up going this route for Tina and she had the implant on Monday night, so far there has been no change and her bedding is still soaked through every morning ;)
  22. Have you tried this product? - http://animalitch.com.au/ I have no idea if it will work but anything would be worth trying I guess? They seem to have some good testimonials, I was going to use their horse product when Kallie had greasy heel that we couldn't resolve
  23. Gosh I have no idea on anyone up here but if you PM the member Warley she makes lovely coats that are custom made to size, she might be able to give you an idea of whether she can help?? I would direct you to her thread on the coats she makes but they are in Off Topic and I don't think you have enough posts to get there yet (keep typing!!!) I hope that helps
