Can I ask why Erny? I have my horse with them and when I got my certificate they had put a blanket exclusion on the policy for any claims arising from lameness. I rang them and they were fantastic - said to email them some info about his previous injury and within 20 minutes they had emailed back confirming they were removing the exclusion. I've not made any claims as yet so would be interested in what their claims service is like...

I have left my cocker spaniels at Playhouse at Wyee......Dave is really good and Michelle is lovely...he looks after big...she looks after small..and they have lovely staff.... I am really sorry we dont take the biggies....I love them all...we rescue anything in need as you can read in the rescue thread Bella Oz and i but we purpose built Just Like Home for the littlies..... I've heard nothing but great things about Playhouse and a lady who rescued two malamutes from me regularly boards them there. She is really happy with the service. From what I have been told the owners are true dog lovers (always a bonus)

Thanks! I am going to order one for Charlie anyway so might grab a matt zapper as well

I remember seeing these in a US mag years ago and they looked good. Did you pick it up in Australia? It would be great for Charlie's coat as well

If it was my dog I know what I would be doing and it has also made me think a lot about the breeds I would own when we eventually get to acreage But it is not my dog. I've googled some info on splitting the mats and will give that a go. If I tackle one or two a day we should be sweet in 3 -4 days

Sorry rotty - I'm just not a fan of those yearly heartworms. But the rest I think is up to you and what you think you can manage. I have a personal preference for the dogs having the snip, I'm just not sure why I would want to leave a dog entire.... it's actually given me something to think about

Hey guys A friend has a BC x Poodle ( a Boodle? LOL) Anyway the coat is thick, long and curly - a bit what you see on cross breeds I suspect. They've recently moved to the country and because their is access to a dam the coat is really badly matted. She is loath to clip the coat in case it does not grow back as well Any tips of getting through matts? If I can help her save the coat I will - though my preference is to clip it and keep it short

Toddler Attacked By Dog In Hair Salon

These threads always make me think of a poor cattle dog that was put down at our local pound... I've told it before but.... Said lovely boy was surrendered by his owners because he had bitten a child in the home. Completely out of character for him. He was PTS but as they turned him to move him the pound manger found a pencil embedded in his ear..... -

Iams Dog Food - Large Breed
Winterpaws replied to Winterpaws's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I had to google PF as I have thrown out bag as we store any food in a feed bin. Ingredient list: Chicken, Corn Meal, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Chicken By-Product Meal (Natural source of Glucosamine), Ground Whole Grain Barley, Dried Beet Pulp, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Dried Egg Product, Fish Meal, Chicken Flavor, Potassium Chloride, Brewers Dried Yeast, Dicalcium Phosphate, Salt, Flax Meal, Caramel, Choline Chloride, Fish Oil (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Carbonate), Dried Chicken Cartilage (Natural source of Glucosamine), Calcium Carbonate, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin A Acetate, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate (source of vitamin B1), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, Riboflavin Supplement (source of vitamin B2), Inositol, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid), DL-Methionine, L-Tryptophan, Rosemary Extract. The store has said they wil accept a return without the bag and it gets sent back to Iams. I can understand if you swap foods and the consistency of the stools changes slightly whilst they adjust to it. But this was violent explosive and noisy ;) I have read that some dogs react strongly to beet pulp when it is first introduced. If that's a novel fibre source for them, that may be the culprit. We normally feed Nutrience but PetStock no longer supplies it. I just checked the ingredient list and it contains beet pulp also? -

Does anyone else feed Iams Large Breed A few weeks ago Tina got really bad explosive diarhea (sp?). 2 days later Charlie and Henry got it as well. It was really horrid and explosive. I put it down to a tummy bug and for the last two weeks they have been on chicken and rice whilst their stools went back to normal. They've been perfect for the last week. Two nights ago I started to gradually introduce the dry food again and last night poor Tina had explosive diarhhea again. So it has to be the dry food that is causing the upset stomach and obviously they will not be getting anymore. The only dog not affected has been Pepe and he is on a different feed as he is overweight and so is on Jenny Craig for dogs Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem and whether we might have got a bad batch. The pet store is great and we can return the unused portion for a refund but I would never have expected this reaction from a premium food.

Huski - One of my holistic doggy books has a story about a couple who insisted on feeding their dog a vegetarian diet and it eventually kiled the dog I'll try get some time on the weekend and track down the book name and page numbers so you can refer her to it. I am fairly certain it was Dr Martin Goldsteins book

Thanks everyone. I am inclined to think it is a short term tummy bug as they are otherwise acting normally - just have foul butts!

Suprelorin And Bitch Incontinence
Winterpaws replied to Winterpaws's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Just a final update on this. The implant has kicked in and is working. We only get really minor dribbles now and are no longer changing bedding every day (sometimes 2/3 times a day) It probably took at least 6 weeks for it to be effective -
On Saturday Tina (ridgeback) was inside. She had just been let in. I went to have a shower and when I came back there was horrid diarhea all over the carpet. Very unlike her to have an accident like that inside (and yes thank you it was all over cream carpet ) We thought it might be a bad batch of dog meat so threw it away and gave the dogs BBQ chook and rice Then on Sunday Henry (DDB) had runny poos so we have kept them on the BBQ chook and rice Now today Charlie has an upset tummy and I can hear it gurgling all day and he is actively seeking out grass to eat. His poos were softer than normal and a yellow colour Tina had also still got sloppy poo and it is yellow and mucousy The only one who hasn't got an upset tummy is Pepe. Pepe is generally kept in a seperate yard and has a different diet as he is a porker and is on Jenny Craig for dogs at the moment Stomach bug? Local water supplies? We do have recycled tank water in our garden but the dogs bowls are always filled from inside the house

One of mine will not eat bones, and has never enjoyed bones. He will eat chicken wings but that is about it If you try and give him the kibble for oral health - he will vomit it back up.... I might look into that gel, thanks for the link Bonz

Do you know what changes will be made to the new Version, kja?

Maybe a sock over the top as well?

NO JUMPING!!! That could have been the cause in the first place. Definitely restrict his movement if you can. You will probably find your vet will put him on crate rest anyway. Yeh I have stopped him from jumping up and down since we noticed it when we got home tonight. I'm going to try find some sort of ramp so he can still get up and down Poor little bugger - he's a crazy active little man so being crated will do his head in
-
Age unknown Stormie as he was a HP rescue Best guess would be ~5 - 7yrs I guess Anything I should be doing between now and the vet visit? Should I restrict his movement? He loves sleeping up on his bed on the lounge but thinking jumping up and down is not a good thing for him!
