  1. Is there any possibility that Pacers might help with the surgery he needs? I just did some googling to see what it was and it says it is a fairly agressive form of cancer. I'd be happy to contribute some costs if we could find a rescue vet who would do some cheaper pricing on the surgery (I cannot make a donation until thursday this week unfortunately)
  2. It's not a hard question to answer, how many ? Neither is my question of its relevance? I don't have a problem with telling people how many breeds I have owned, so why do you ? Anyone else on DOL would have no problem answering this simple question, the relevance is I don't think you've owned the breeds I have am I right ? I always thought you lacked intellect until your last post Tarope. I now realise you are incredibly intelligent and gifted. You will somehow be able to work out what breeds of dog I have owned by me giving you a numerical value. I am impressed. 12. I needed a laugh today
  3. Ah damn - wish I had known they would be there, we love SS bowls in this house. They last really well and I just love the big water bowls After our midnight dash to vet on Good Friday - no money now though
  4. If you don't mind driving a bi further down the coast then I reccomend these guys - http://www.playhousepetmotel.com/ Husband and wife team who absolutely adore dogs. I've not met anyone yet who has had a bad word to say about them
  5. What breed was it? A newfy or something?
  6. Brooke - he is not the first animal you will have rehomed because of issues? Why not post down in rescue and see if someone can help you out and offer him a foster place. If your dogs is having issues then taking on other animals is so unfair. I think moving Ben to a foster home would possibly be his best option, is there some GSD folk who can you point you in the direction of a suitable rescue?
  7. If they have the occasional spat then I wouldn't leave them alone at home for 3 days with an occasional visit from someone Board them - they will be fine
  8. We have used Interceptor before but now i use Heart guard. Charlie is the fussiest dog with food and even he will scoff over these All wormer is just a tablet down their throats every 3 months. I am fortunate enough not to have to use flea treatments (thank dog I don't have that expense!!!!!)
  9. Put the shoe on the other foot. One day you want to do rescue? You've mentioned it a few times??? Well what if you find a dog you just gel with, but you don't realise until the last minute? I did that with Henry and I have to to tell you, whilst I know I hurt someone by pulling out of his adoption at the last minute, I don't regret it for a second. He is so much a part of our lives and I cannot imagine a day without him. Breeders put their heart and souls into breeding and their dogs, I don't think it is nice to badmouth them when you are talking about a living breathing animal. I'm, sure if you paid her money she'd reimburse you! You'll find the right match - how come you decided not to rescue?
  10. My dogs range in size from 6kg to 65kg You would NEVER get me in a dog park, EVER! Too many twats who think their dogs are lovely.. .but history proves otherwise
  11. I'm bad, I would have jumped the fence and grabbed the injured dog :D Probably not the right thing to do though
  12. I do, I would sue the owner for damages, and a lot of them Maybe if people start thinking that they could be held financially responsible, then they might start taking dog ownership more seriously Although, a mastiff jumping a 1.8m fence? I find that hard to believe, my DDB is so front heavy he would be hard pressed to jump a baby gate!!!
  13. Karma  I have zero sympathy for her - she got what she deserved
  14. Not long now Ash Waiting, waiting with for now but soon LOL
  15. Just wondering if anyone has one, and what brand, price etc. I've seen a few but they look so narrow!!!!! We are getting a new car soon and I am a bit worried about Henry and Tina being able to get in the car (especially without scratching all the paint!!!!!), thinking a dog ramp might be a good idea?
  16. Good article but I think the focus on pet shops purchases being the only dogs disposed of is becoming too overused I know of more purebred dogs being "disposed" of these days than pet shop ones.... for reasons that astound even me No-one should rush into the purchase of animal, no matter where it is being sourced and if you do take on animal then make sure you are prepared to put in the hard yards because it is a big commitment, generally a minimum of 10 years!
  17. I like the plastic chicken wire stuff - less chance of losing a nail or anything.
  18. Make sure you pick the bowls up and remove them before you let them off I know you probably will, just making sure
  19. if one of your dogs got out and no-one bothered to try and contain them? If you drove past a dog and couldn;t be bothered, and then a few hours later saw the dog dead by the side of the road? You love dogs too much and at the end of the day it ain't the dogs fault, the owners are the problem!
  20. I will try and take a photo tomorrow (my memory being what will let me down) of the kennels that my FIL built for the dogue and ridgeback. They are fantastic, the only thing I would change, is that I would prefer a hinging roof. Ours are solid roofs
  21. Should that not be the responsibility of the parents..... ridiculous!
  22. Hi Winterpaws, I am not sure. I hadnt heard of one either, but when I picked the girls up yesterday, I was advised by Pound staff that Husky Rescue Qld, was interested and trying to get a quote for transport. I asked pound staff for them to ctc me as I was happy to help with release to a reputable rescue, thinking they could then put that money towards transport. I was then advised it wasnt required, as he'd be coming out through Husky rescue and they didnt have to account for release fees. ??? Its got me buggered. Still waiting on reply from Illy. Just trying to call. No answer on mobile, probably busy as they close in 5 mins. I am curious myself now. I'd be really interested to know Be careful with Qld rehomings - the welfare agencies up there were having issues with dog fighters trying to get dogs
  23. Sorry we are unable to help, These days Winterpaws is a site to advertise dogs, we are not able to take in dogs ourselves as we have no longer have a seperate area to quarantine and house foster dogs. You mention Husky Rescue Qld? Do you have details of who that is? As far as I am aware there isn't a rescue in Qld
  24. Well I dunno, but if poster after poster disagreed with me I would probably be wondering whether a) I was on the wrong track and maybe need to rethink things or b) I have an issue with the way I am communicating my thoughts But hey if playing the victim rocks your boat then you should hang around
