  1. Thanks for your help. I'll try it out today. Yesterday at puppy kindy it was a bit if a disaster, he's just so happy and excited to see everyone. But I must say he is pretty good at "come" and I had to use it last night. I let him out to go to the toilet and at the bottom of the stairs was a CANE TOAD 'Eeeeeeck' ( I didn't think they were out a this time of year) I screamed!!!!!!!! 'COME' and ran back up the stairs. Thank God he followed me. I watched him for hours just to be sure he was OK. Whew I'll let you know how we go today. Thanks
  2. Thanks guys for your help, much apreciated. I have spoken to the trainers at puppy kindy, they thought his snout might be a bit short for a gentle leader. I will ask them if they provide 1 on 1 training sessions. He is so good otherwise, with toilet training going very well and loves his training. We'll keep perservering.
  3. Hi, I have a 5 month old Blenheim Cav, Smudgie. His training is going pretty well except for walking on a lead. He is only small but a lot of our walk he spends on his hind legs, pulling me down the street. Sounds silly but true. I've tried saying his name and pulling gently on the lead over and over again (as advised), I tried tiring him out before a walk, changing directions often so he has to concentrate more. All no good :D . All suggestions welcome.
  4. I know just how you feel. I have a new puppy and I just love my garden. I have looked on the ASPCA website and have found that a lot of my plants can be poisonous to pups. Anything with sap it appears, frangipanni, hibiscus, sago palms ( that I watered so carefully this summer). Luckily Roses appear to be OK. I've just started to give away and get rid of some, I don't want to take any chances. I'm thinking of putting a fence up in front of my garden, it runs all the way along the back fence, big job. She sounds like a character!
  5. Hi Jake, I too have a Cav puppy, "Smudge". I have him in the corner of the family room and he is next to the door with a doggy door. He sleeps in his crate, I have attached his playpen to the crate. I have used the compost bins that you can purchase from Bunnings about $25.00. I have newspaper inside for him and also on the veranadah. This seems to be working well, no 2's are under control. No 1's a work in progress. Night time he sleeps in his crate and I make the playpen area much smaller, just enough room for his water bowl and the newspaper for a wee, so far so good. I do like the artifical grass idea!! Hope all goes well for you.
  6. Hi so sorry to hear your news. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
  7. Thanks, I'm not sure about the dad but mum is a beautiful Blenheim with a lovely black nose. This little boy doesn't have any colour at the moment, I'll keep an eye on it. Your puppies are just beautiful. I'd love to have a tri and a blenheim, eventually.
  8. Thanks, I'm not sure about the kelp either. Did you have much difficulty getting a cav. I've been trying for a tri male for ages?
  9. I know nothing about CKCS but if he has a lot of white around his nose it'd wouldn't surprise me at all if he was born with a pink nose and it pigments up as he gets older ("older" in this instance depends on breed, could be 2 weeks could be 6 months). Certainly happens that way in the breeds I do know Ask the breeder. Thanks for your help, that's great news! Although I still can't get my hopes up too much as the breeder is waiting until the pups are a little older to make a decision about which one she will keep. I'm hoping it's not my little boy, he's the only boy. You've put my mind to rest. Thanks, and I will ask the breeder.
  10. I hope someone can give me some information. I'm waiting for a Cavalier King Charles tri male pup and have a question about the nose colour. I'm waiting on one and have just seen photos, but he and his sisters have very pales noses ( no black at all). I hope this isn't a silly question but does the colour develop as they get older? He is only just 2 weeks old. I hope someone can help.
  11. Hi Mutt Lover, Just beautiful, thankyou for sharing this with us. No 10 is extremely true, our 13 year old "puppy" needed to have a rest at 13 years of age due to anal cancer. ;) We as a family (with the vets help and advice) decided that when Sam told us it was time we would look after him as we had always done. We took photos over the last few weeks and were able to spend time with him Gave him his favourite foods. And played his favourite games. He was surely a blessing to us. Even on his last day he greeted the vet with a wagging tail at our front door. We were there for him at the very end, and in a lot of ways this has (if it could be )made his passing easier. He was and always will be a part of our family. I thank God for allowing us to be his human family. Now he is in heaven, giving God licks and love. Thankyou.
