There is a product you can buy that will remove tear staining it is called Angel Eyes. It is a powder formula which is put in their food. It is very expensive but it does work. Reason for it being so expensive is its shipped from the US

Puppy Schools In Brisbane's South
atua replied to Wullie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi, I attend Logan All Breeds obedience and I find it really good. It has the option of training monday or friday nights. You can do both if your prefer. I have found trainers very friendly and knowledgeable. The puppy preschool classes are held in a special puppy pen with all the little babies. Its so cute. If you need any further details about logan just PM me -
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to read this post it is much appreciated. Currently I am looking at changing my dogs current food over by adding a little more flavour. What I am looking at doing is buying pet grade mince which contains offal, chicken frames, beef and liver and the other leftovers. I currently just feed them raw chicken mince with Bonnie dry food and occasionally sardines. They also get the odd briskett bones. I plan on buying this pet mince and cooking it up with sardines and raw eggs and rice. I would use vegetables but my dogs dont seem to eat them. Is there anything else that I should add in this brew? Thank you once again Mel

Between $500 and $1250. I'm guessing it can go higher if you're after a show dog from a well known show kennel but don't know how high they range. If you're after a companion only, you're usually looking between $500 to $1000. Thank you very much. Its just I was reading in a Dogs life magazine a few weeks ago now that they are around $300 I thought it must of been a error. But I have been wondering ever since. They are such lovely looking dogs

Hi there, I have been interested in the raw diets for quite some time too but havent known what to use in them so I have been feeding pet grade chicken mince from lenards. I have only just found this thread so I apoligise if this has been asked already I have not read all pages. With those ingredients how many days food do you get? Are you feeding 2 small dogs? How would you recommend me introducing this to my dogs? Would I mix it in with there food that they get gradually? Thank you

Hi Missymoo My little maltese also had this done. He had 2 incisions and one was near his leg more like the groin area. He is fine now although when I had a bitch in season it left me wondering if they really got it as he was in heaven.

anvet at beenleigh charges $35 per puppy. That is what they charge for all dogs though and no discount on puppies. I think that that is reasonable. I was paying $65 per dog where I used to go.

Hi there, I have found the amstaff more stubborn than a sbt. I have my first amstaff though and it could be her because she is very dominating. I havent found anywhere to do weightpulling with my girl yet but when I find somewhere and when she is old enough I am very interested. As for obedience shes only just gone one and I am doing trial training with her at the moment. She is very willing to work and I believe she will excel in the obedience ring. Hopefully in another few months I will be able to take her in trials.

Puppy Purchasers....taking Your New Puppy Home
atua replied to ellz's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am also getting my new puppy in a few weeks and things I would like to know is- - The weight of my puppy each week until it arrives. This one I would really love to know so I know I am doing the right thing and also for future reference as I plan on becoming a breeder so would be ideal to compare to later on down the track - Some information from the breeder on various diseases and problems that happen in the chosen breed Ie- hip displacia info, heart problems, bloat But what information I would like to receive is basic facts and also what to look for incase any of these problems arise. -Copies of parents health tests and a photo copy of their pedigree until I received my pups papers. -Breed standard -Copies of parents highest acheivements - Sample of the dog food and a list of the breeders feeding routine as well as what soft food she feeds. - Worming routine This is all I can think of for now, I dont expect things like a collar or lead or a toy but I guess it would be a bonus if you receive it. -
hey Im glad Boof is feeling much better. I once had a tooth go through my lip and it bled for 7 hours and because it was my lip they wouldnt stitch it up as it would of stayed moist and not of dried out. Will they test for Von Willibrams (sp?) disease do you know? Im pretty sure thats the blood clotting disease. Fingers crossed shes ok

Hi showdog, I am actually a full time dog groomer. There will be a few things I need to learn on the grooming side but have full support of the breeder. I guess I am extremely lucky to find such a caring breeder that isnt just going to leave me in the lurch with my new puppy. I have heard it can take up to 2 years for a gordons coat to mature and reach its full potential. By maturity did you mean like a lab? How they are like a puppy until they are 3 years old???? I did not know that actually. I have read that they are a very intelligent dog that loves exercise and will learn from just watching. They can also be very stubborn and can try to push boundaries so the rules for the future are the rules from day one.(just like any other dog). If you meant the above, could you please clarify with me what you mean.... What to expect and what they are likely to do? Thanks again guys

Thanks Jed, I just bought that book on ebay.

Thank you very much for all the replies. I really appreciate it. I will definitely get that book recommended. I do enjoy reading all the information on gordons, breeding, mating, breed standard etc but it isn't really sinking in. I guess it will better when I actually have my girl and know exactly what is in front of me. I do have a general idea. I have read and read on the Gordon setter and have researched them for the last 5 years and decided now is the right time to get one. I was going to get one last year instead of the am-staff but due to living arrangements it would not of been fair on the Gordon as it requires a lot of exercise where as the staffy would be happy to do what I am doing and isn't overly demanding on exercise every day. I was having knee trouble and had just moved from acreage into the city and I had owned a amstaff a few years prior. I have a good relationship with the breeder and she is totally great and supportive and helps me out with advice and any questions I ask. I would definitely talk to her before breeding on what she recommended me do. Before I breed also I would be asking her opinion on whether her for her honest opinion on the bitch before breeding. If she was not of breeding quality then it would be back to square one. Not all puppies grow into quality dogs and the breeder has assured me of this in which I completely understand. Im not going to hold any grudges if she doesn't turn out to be breeding quality its just luck of the draw.

Hi, I have never bred a litter of dogs before and I have only seen one dog have pups before and that was when I was working in the vet surgery. I am very soon getting a nice gordon bitch and do have plans on becoming a registered breeder if everything turns out right. I was wondering how people determine the right stud dog to put over the bitch. What qualities do you look for? I will use my Amstaff girl as an example (BTW im not breeding her just using her as a example and she is a pet only) She is not overly stocky more on the lean athletic type with a lovely topline. She is tall but not too tall at the shoulder for the breed standard. Her movement is nice and free and her eyes are lovely. She has beautiful markings and her temperment is to die for. If I were to breed her I would look for a stud that had a bit more stockiness to offer, not something overly tall but around the same height as I wouldnt want pups too tall. Temperment would also pay a huge role in the determining the right stud to use. In the amstaffs I guess colour doesnt pay a really big role in the breeding like some dogs such as Labradors etc But would prefer a blue fawn, black and white or blue male with no skin allergies. Also health certificates passed. A title would not matter to me as show titles are pretty easy to gain if really desired. Does all the CH and GR CH on a pedigree mean that the dog is great quality as such? I am trying to get a better understanding of the whole breeding aspects and how breeders determine certain things so when I get my new girl I will have a good understanding and be alert of different things. My apoligies if you dont understand this question if you would like me to clarify anything just let me know I want to make sure I really want to become a breeder before getting my hopes set! Any advice from breeders more than welcome. I want to breed to try and better the breed and also have a huge passion for showing so would like to be able to eventually show my homebred dogs. I also would only like to be a small breeder and therefore only breeding when I wanted something for myself or had orders to fill. I dont want to breed for the thrill of just having puppies as I believe that they will be alot of hard work involved not only with the rearing of puppies but also choosing the right dogs to be breed together and then the actual whelping. I am scared at the thought of a dog having puppies as if something went wrong I would feel so guilty. I would also want a contract signed from the purchaser that I get first dibs on buying the dog back if they cant keep it for any reason. Also desexing of pups that are on the limited register with a fee paid back once the puppy has been desexed. I dont want to add to the already load of unwanted dogs. I would also consider starting a breed rescue for my chosen breed. (gordon setters) As stated advice welcome on both positive and negative points. BTW I wont be considering breeding for atleast another 2 years but just want to get myself prepared the best as possible as I am considering becoming a breeder therefore I would like to learn all I can in the meantime

Introducing...suthenskys Single N Luvn It
atua replied to kelpiesrule's topic in General Dog Discussion
he is absolutely gorgeous I love his dark chocolate colour and he looks so damn cute I never even considered owning a kelpie until now lol But now I really want one -
Well until recently they were pretty lax but unfortunately our IDIOT government has passed similar legislation to the rest of Aus. I would love to help but already have 3 at home and no spare run to keep rescues in. Will ask a couple people tomo. Thank you very much for that. Kirty, I hate seeing pit bulls get in the wrong hands and its always sad to see an adult dog for sale or giveaway. Bad owners = bad media damage which means more negativity on a already endangered dog breed. Probably not any different to any other breed threatened to be PTS but do they have the bad media coverage that pit bulls do? I was just trying to help this dog out as it is my favorite breed of dog. I understand you cant believe what people say in ads. I havent had a reply from this person yet so assuming that this dog has been homed. I emailed her on the 1st. Thank you to everyone who has taken their time in helping and reading this thread

Im hoping the same thing. I would just hate to see him get into some idiots hands. I feel so helpless. I wish I could do something but I know that bringing him to QLD will be a death wish waiting to happen. Bumping for this poor fellow.

What are the rules in Tas in regard to pitbulls?
-
Ive always been under the impression 21 days after being on season is the best time to desex as the hormones are at a level balance again. One of my old bitches used to come on heat every 5 months I guess it really depends on how often she comes in. I have heard of bitches coming on every 12 months as well. Hence why I was told to desex 21 days after they come off season. A huge :D from me to for your decision not to breed. Well done must not of been fairly tough to take in after all the hard work
