My trailer is a Trek and it has a metal floor with drain holes which makes hosing out easy. I dont like the lift up lids because at times they can be hard to get up especially with winds and you have to remember rope to be able to pull them back down. The external doors on the Treks I have been told can come undone so I have replaced the locks on doors just for a little extra safety as I did have one door fly open whilst driving. I like the size of the tack box because it is deep and big. However one thing I would like is a rack on the back so I could store a Gazebo and trolleys. The reverse lights also are not the best on the trailer. However I like the internal doors as I can leave the external doors open and happily leave my dogs for a period of time without the worry of someone poking fingers in or even baiting them as they have many tiny holes. Also the internal doors have 2 locks instead of one which I really like as well. However we are all different and prefer different things. I personally wouldnt ever opt for a wooden floor as dogs do have accidents and not just that if you leave water in with the dogs it can be spilt which will cause damage. Other than that just make sure the berth sizes suit your breed or chosen dogs at full size. Hope this helps

that sounds expensive seeming its a male. I live in Brisbane and got my 2year old 30kg female desexed and all up it cost $177. Was done about 2 months ago

I know now....... My letter to Cesar:.... "Hello Mr Cesar, I have a very very bad doggy that needs some discipline. But not just any discipline...the type that only strong, dark and handsome men like you can give. Do you think you can find some time in your really busy life to come over to lil' ole' Australia to see lil' ole' me and my naughty naughty poochy??" PMSL ;)

Miss B, I have gone through my things but am not sure ofa few things. Does the AWL rescue horses? I have some horse stuff like halters that they can have. I have quite a few dog bowls lying around, a few collars and leads, some heart worm stuff that I am not using not sure if they would use the SR12 Injection however. I dont have many coats but will no doubt have a few in the next few months as I have various sized coats but have a baby puppy at the moment and still has not grown out of any. -

I will go through my stuff when I get home, I am sure I will have some stuff. I have monthly heart worm tablets that I am not using only 3 left but would they be of use? I am sure I have millions of spare leads, collars etc laying around. -
yea its 3 months from calander dates so not 12 weeks. Our Whippet baby is 3 months on the 15th July and her first show is the 18th July. She was born on the 15th April. Thanks for the advice guys we have been practising at home but we really want her to get used to the other dogs etc. Hogz I am in logan so caboolture is a little far away but i will bring her to your grounds for the shows:P

Thanks very much for the input. We have been practising each day at home but wasnt sure whether the puppy would benefit from actual training itself with other dogs etc. He had been doing show training with a adult dog but of a different breed. Thanks again guys. I wasnt to keen on the idea as she hasnt finished all her shots yet either and also wasnt sure if there was a rule about the age.

Hi, Sorry that this is not the correct place but thought more people may see this rather than the show ring area. Just wondering how old a puppy should be before starting show training? We have a 10 week old Whippet puppy and show training is on tonight. Not sure if the baby is still too young or not. Its for my son who is almost 10. He will be handling the dog. Thanks in advance.

Just wondering how old the puppies have to be allowed to go to show training? Thanks in advance

She comes from a breeder who has bred and shown Whippets for 35 years. The mother is a 3x Best in Show winner and the sire is a Runner up in show winner. We are really happy with the breeder since speaking as she seems a reall knowledgeable lady and very helpful. We had a choice from 3 puppies of we ourselves chose the parti coloured girl. She will be a pet first and foremost and a show dog second. Good stuff! Glad you found a show quality girl so quickly.. took me months! Thank you, I am very glad aswell. From what I was reading it could take years to get a lovely dog. I guess it helps that we are willing to travel to pick up the right puppy. We have a 4 hour drive to pick the puppy up but I believe she will be well worth it. It just happened that the first breeder I contacted from DOL breeder pages had a current litter and I took a liking to the breeder via our phone conversation. I prefer to have a good relationship with a breeder rather than none at all. Seeming we will be first time Whippet owners I would like to feel I could call if I had any problems later down the track.

Thank you very much to everyone for their replies. We have found a breeder and a puppy that we will be getting for our son. The puppy arrives in 3 weeks today. We are all very excited about adding a Whippet to our family. I will post photo's of the puppy on here when I get home from work as I am working at the moment. Thank you once again. We were certain after all the things we have read on whippets that a whippet would be a great dog for our son and had already sussed a few breeders out.

Thank you very much for the replies I really appreciate it. There are people with Whippets at Lure Coursing but the whole Whippet thing has only just came up recently and we have lure coursing this weekend so I cant wait to go and talk to owners. Sounds like Whippets can be clowns as well. So far so good. Keep them coming please

Hi there, After much thought my partner and I are currently in the process of deciding whether to get a whippet for our soon to be 10 year old son to learn the show ropes with. This dog will solely be his dog, with our help. He is a very responsible 9 year old boy whom has been saving and buying things for his new dog when he gets it. I dont have much knowledge on whippets and would like to find out as much as possible on them. We have secure fencing, often participate in lure coursing. My son has a avid interest in agility and also does dog obedience. From what I have found on the internet whippets seem to be very fun loving dogs with their family members but wary of strangers. So if any one on here at all has any experience with whippets would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
