  1. well the Gordon puppies are almost 6 weeks old (on Tuesday) I still have no idea which girl is mine yet but I am going to visit in 2 more sleeps. EEEEP I am so excited and cant wait. I just feel like getting up and dancing lol. Time has been going so fast for me as I have been flat out with work. I am still not sure how long until I get to bring her home my guess is still another 3 or 4 weeks  Hope it flies by
  2. Hi there, There is a kennel called Skymac. I dont have one of their dogs but knew of someone who inherited a dog of their breeding. This dog in particular had been rehomed many of times. The people I knew who had this dog werent very good owners and being blue did have the skin conditions and was on limited register and were using this dog for stud to anything. Anyway the founders of Skymac kennels called up this person who I knew who had this dog advertised all over the internet for stud and told them that they were the breeder and if they could come and see him. They came around and seen him and told the people straight that this dog in particular had skin problems - summer itch if I recall and offered to buy the dog back from them so they could desex him. I was talking to the founders of Skymac kennel and the breeds genuine interest is her main priority. They do many things with their dogs such as weight pulling also. Thats the only breeder that I can think of at the moment. However I do know of a breeder out near Durack that is just a puppy farmer with registered dogs. Every season their bitches are mated. Only every second litter is registered. They are breeding from dogs with a overshot bite and another with a cleft palate. Please PM me if you would like to know this persons prefix. Hope this helps
  3. not sure about the bite in your breed but our whippet puppy had a nice scissor bite when we picked her up and then a few weeks later she had a under bite for about 3 months and then it settled down and went back to normal by the time she was 6 months. Depending on the breed I guess and i am not sure about your breed but Whippets are known to have a slow growing bottom jaw. Hope this helps some. Oh and by the way good luck with your new baby. All dogs still have faults even the Best in Show winners Its just a matter of working out how to make your dog look its best.
  4. agree with showdog. We need a few more details. If you want coat growth try emu oil capsules. Other than that could we please have some more info like Breed of dog Age and sex please
  5. Hi all, Thank you for the replies. I have found a new vet that I will be using and never going back to the other vet that desexed her. She is capable of jumping into the car just some times she gets lazy and wants me to life her bum in for her. I was talking to my breeder and she said that it could just be a mental thing as it shouldnt be tender but I will definately get it checked out by the vet. I dont feel its a urgent thing as it doesnt stop her from jumping on things like the outdoor table etc. Its just when you put pressure ie lift her that she screams. She still runs as normal, eats as normal, has no temperatures etc. So will keep an eye on the situation and mention it at our next vet trip as she is due to go at the end of January not March like I first thought. However if something changes in the mean time I will definately take her sooner.
  6. I would love to come also but am located in Brisbane Would be great. Fingers crossed you find someone soon I wish you happy healing and a prosperous new year
  7. I have got a quick question about dogs in general. Ever since I have had Atua desexed when i touch her stomach like when I lift her into the car she yelps.. today i thought i would try and find the area where it is sore as I thought that maybe when she had her puppies she tore her uterus but it is definately right where she was desexed? I applied a fair amount of pressure on different parts of her abdomin and yep around the site where she was desexed it where the yelp comes. When I picked her up from being desexed her wound was dripping blood and very bruised. I have had a few dogs desexed before and never bruised like this. I kept her quiet for about 5 days and it developed that lump that comes when they have been having too much exercise yet she had been only taken out on lead to toilet and locked in a crate. I took her back to the vet the day after her desexing because there was still a small amount of blood coming out but they said to keep an eye on it and if it hasnt stopped by the next day to come back. It did stop so we didnt go back... not even to get the stitches out as I took them out myself. Im pretty certain from memory (will have to find desexing receipt) that I had her desexed in July if thats any help. She is a 3 year old Amstaff if thats anymore help. She has been like it since about a week or two after being desexed. Other then when I try to lift her she doesnt yelp or carry on so its not something that needs urgent vet care. Would it be worth taking her to a vet for a check anyway or just wait to her next vaccine which is in about 3 months? Thanks in advance
  8. lol good topic We had a dog chew up a cassette once during the night and then the next morning we found a whole heap of the string stuff everywhere. Off to the vets we went with our boy to get it removed. Was quite funny though as the vet had a thing in the paper at the end of the year of all different things that dogs had come in with and yep our dog was on that list and even named with what he did. I guess it was kind of name the dog and shame them for their naughty habits. However he never chewed anything up again after that :D dont really blame him either
  9. Hes absolutely gorgeous Sorry to hear that he kept you up all night :D I hope he settles in really soon.
  10. Aww such a handsome boy:D I have been watching him develop as a baby via facebook pictures Good luck with him

  13. Transport arranged. Thank you
  14. Hi, Just thought I would post here as someone may be travelling along the Bruce Highway over the next 2 weeks and be willing to transport a dog along with them. Dog is a 8 month old German Short Haired Pointer. Going to Calliope from Brisbane. Calliope in located approx 100km south of Rockhampton is on the Bruce Highway. Please note this dog is not a rescue dog he is a ex show dog that is going to a pet home. If anyone is travelling either via car or plane this distance or part of the way and wouldnt mind taking a dog along as either excess baggage could you please PM me. Thanks in advance
  15. Hi All, Ive been watching this thread for a while and knew that my puppy to be was still a long way off and knew that one day soon I could join in too and now I am here . The excitement to get my little girl is pretty extreme as its been a hard journey for me with the luck of puppies due to my original puppy passing away the day before I was to pick her up so have been waiting ever so patiently since.(for those wondering she had a reaction to a vaccine) The breeder then mated another bitch who didnt take so thought that I would wait to post until there is atleast puppies on the ground and not to get myself too excited as anything can happen as I have previously dealt with. I am getting a Gordon Setter puppy and at present she is 3 weeks and 1 day old I still dont know which one I am getting yet but still am sure as heck excited and cant wait to get her home. She comes from a litter of 6. She has 2 brothers and 3 sisters. I dont find out which puppy is mine for a few more weeks yet (about 5 I am guessing) because I am getting a show puppy. Still none the less I know soon I should have my puppy :D I have admired the breed for about 7 years now and have been waiting now for the past 2 years. I am going out to visit my little girl on the 9th of January however I could of went earlier but have chosen to hold off until shes 5 weeks old, so she or they can bite on my toes and give me grief. I just love little personalities. However I have had heaps of photos and regular skype views of the babies. ;) I know how hard the waiting game is :p Ive got to keep myself really busy. I have loved reading the stories from all the other people whom have posted and I would like to wish you and your puppies all a merry christmas ;)
  16. Hi sorry I cant help you out. I live in Brisbane and havent heard or found a place that does it. Hope you find something.
  17. bumping this to the top page. Fingers crossed for these two.. I have a little Maltese otherwise Id just get into trouble from my partner and fostor the white shepherd!
  18. with the last question I put depends on which dog, because most of my dogs are ok with bones I just got to keep an eye on one because he has very few teeth left. I also keep a eye on young dogs that have only just been introduced to bones. The amstaff I dont have to worry about:D
  19. pending on the exact location I may be able to help out with Transport. I am not in a position to fostor however
  20. i dont find it funny i find it stupid!
  21. I suppose it depends if you've been on the receiving end of some of this stuff. hmmm, yes I agree. I dont see how its would be turning people off. This kind of behaviour is seem everywhere so I cant see how it is going to turn people away. Alot of these stories are funny and alot of people will be able to relate.
  22. funniest one ive had is that my dog is too small even smaller than the bitch the breeder kept and is a bucket of s**t. This was said to the breeder but a few weeks later when we met up at a show my dog was actually a inch taller than the breeders bitch they kept and are running on I find it funny though and so did the breeder. This particular person is known for saying things like that to new exhibitors ETA sentences didnt make sence
  23. Hi there, I havent heard of this breeder, but it is very hard to find a good cavalier breeder that ticks all of the boxes. Most cav breeders either have huge rediculous contracts on their puppies or simply will not sell on the main register. I do not agree with some of the contracts that some breeders have as basically you are only feeding the dog and paying all its costs yet have no rights at the end of the day. I always steer clear of breeders like that because at the end of the day there is usually another breeder who doesnt have all of those conditions. Follow your stomach instinct. Its not always better to buy local. If you feel that this breeder is the right choice then follow your heart and stomach. I wish you the best of luck in your puppy search and much success in the showring
  24. I am another one that recommends Angel eyes however I think I can recall somethinga while ago saying that it got stopped from coming into australia
