  1. Thats a fantastic start if hes doing that.Make sure you keep paying the click no matter what. When youre using the clicker to capture just imagine it as the shutter of a camera, when you click you are taking a photo of what you are rewarding,if that makes sense? treat as soon as possible after the click, ive read that you are also reinforcing everything that happens from the click to the treat,(has anyone else heard this??)Also when you click it ends the behaviour,so your dog is free to stop what its doing to get the treat dont use the click as a signal to keep going.Another thread mentioned Morgan Spectors book Clicker Training for Obedience,i got and still do,so much from this book, highly recommended.
  2. agree, ive stewarded at obedience,Gundog work test and agility and the amount you learn is invaluable.
  3. yep always a favorite with the kids also can balance things on her head. need to teach a strong wait/stay first.
  4. Another great sight with plenty of clicker info is http://www.clickertraining.com/ Also do a search on youtube there are lots of great videos that have really helped me also do some research on Classical conditioning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Autbf9z this may help. I use a clicker to shape most behaviours, then once the behavior is learn t add the cue and fade out the clicker and use voice. As Tess pointed out the first thing you need to do is "program" your dog to understand that a click means reward. For a week or 2 just click treat CT,CT 20x a day and soon youll have a dog that knows click means reward. An important thing is every time you click the dog gets its reward, every time even if you make a mistake, its like a promise you make to your dog.Clicker training is great fun ;)
  5. i always say ready as well. The judge will ask in the ring "are you ready"and you can say to the judge "Ready" at the same time queuing your dog.
  6. Yeah, it has some good info. ill third morgans book
  7. I dont know if these count for back light??The sun was behind her so im guessing it does?
  8. the recall is about 15 mtrs the stays are off lead and you leave your dog about 10 paces.the healing also has a figure 8 around 2 stewards. normal pace slow pace and fast pace in the healing pattern as well with stands downs and sits in the 3 paces.
  9. first you have to ask yourself does the dog truly understand what you are asking. If it does maybe the dog is under paid and lacks stimulation to do the command on cue.Go back and reward more often setting your dog up for success and ignoring or NRM for incorrect behaviour.
  10. i found it easier once you have taught youre dog rear leg awareness.Dogs generally dont move there rear naturally,it needs to be taught, they move there font first and the rear follows.Teaching a dog to walk backwards is one way to teach them rear end awareness.
  11. heres another guitar one,i need a new subject. Its been edited a little.just the contrast and brightness.
  12. This one's really lovely...I might do something similar with my piano. Am a little hesitant to join in this month - I fear I won't succeed. Thanks Iltby -- no excuses!! Give it a go! It's not as hard as it sounds once you have a fiddle with your settings and fiddle with the light source! It's just fun experimenting!!!! I think I'm getting addicted!!!!! Top shot of the sax,we could start a Dogz band  but Piri doesnt let me play, she thinks i suck going by her barks. yeh come on give it a go,u never know till u try :)
  13. How big is the torch you're using in comparison to the subject? I tried using my normal maglite torch when i was doing it but it gave off too much light for me to "paint" with it. I had to use my mini maglite instead im using a cheap $2 shop torch about as long as a pen and not very bright and at times get really close,5 cm away to get the reflection like on the car wheel and guitar.i move back where i want a softer effect.
  14. Cat love the pup also!and the lego shots are cool. thinking of getting a canon, just an entry level one like the 1000D or a 450 D.Id be happy with either.anyone use the 1000d?
  15. The camera im using is a panasonic lumix DMZ TZ2.Its a top little camera im very happy with it.ive been setting it on a 15 sec shutter speed and the torch im using is only a small one, which im finding gives some nice effects.ive been thinking of getting a real camera for some time as the panasonic while ok for stills is pretty useless for action shots.
  16. i guess im gunna have to have that shot now
  17. thanks ,no luck keeping piri still enough
