I really like this photo. I love the slow shutter speed effect. The only reason I upgraded is because I have this obession with capturing my whippets at speed and the 7D fires off something like 8fps and has fast auto focus. I still haven't learnt to get the best out of the camera though. If it wasn't for my obsession my 400D would've served me perfectly well. Those pics I took could just as easily have been taken with the 400D. I agree with getting good lenses, although the ones you've got might give you what you want. like everything I like,it becomes an obsession and I cant stop with just the basics..

I used the 50mm 1.4 for those and I've got the Canon 7D. NICE!.. i wish.im thinking to upgrade,im told to just get new lenses and keep the old body???.im using 1000D with 18-55IS 55-250IS attempt at a slow shutter

Hi everyone, its been a while since ive posted here. Here is a cat my neighbour owned, she is 16 yrs old.My neighbour left when she was 1 and moved 3 suburbs away but the cat came back. This happened 3 times until my new neighbour agreed to look after her. That was until she left 5 years yrs later and now we have looked after her.She sleeps on our doorstep and shares her food with the local pigeons and doves. Her name is Get Out.. but she is really a nice cat.just thought id share her story.:D

What are you implying with this statement?Sorry, but I am a little bewildered as to why such a comment would be made.

LOL That's the problem I've been having! I'm not very coordinated and I'm worried about tripping over her as she does come in nice and close in her fronts! LOL another thing on the list to practice I do the diagonal step also.Hopefully you will only have to be doing it for three trials

Anyone Heard Of This Course Before? Or Completed It?
Piri replied to Cosmolo's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My OH is doing it at the moment she says it a very in depth course and heavily text book based.Have paid over $1000 just in text books!Seems to be enjoying it and is find James O'Heare very helpful.Shes also studying bachelor animal science at uni so shes a bit of a study nut,me,I prefer a more hands on approach and would rather be outside with Piri training, though i do sneak a read of the text books now and then. -
lol same video as i posted lol she a good trainer.

i have a link on youtube you maybe interested in,just what u want i think. bare with the video it was a competition someone was running and doesnt show you how to teach it until a minute and a half into the the video. She uses clicker to mark but just use your "yes".No need to yell the "yes"just keep the tone consistent.First step is to teach targeting.then two targets one each side.Get your dog to target one side, mark, but reward with food on the target on the other side. Anyway check out the video and youll get the drift. http://www.youtube.com/user/chalk6666#play.../13/VpbAGvHFL-g

When im training i like to have 3 types of treats all mixed up.A really good one,an ok one and an average one,so ill have something like steak, sausage and natures gift treats. This way your dog doesnt know whats coming,i find they dont get bored of the type of food as easy as it keeps them guessing at what theyll get.

Retrieve Training - The 'hold'
Piri replied to SmoothieGirl's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If you can "mark" and take the object before the chewing starts and slowly increase the hold time. -
Im pretty sure once you fail , you can pick one exercise to do after that and thats it,so for eg if you failed the heeling ,you could than choose to do a recall or stand for exam.
-
In training I mix up the flip finishes, round the back finishes and return ,I find doing to many of the same finishes after a recall or retrieve a dog will start to anticipate the finish so by mixing it up it keeps them guessing and stops them doing it before the cue.

:D You've achieved one of the hardest parts of teaching this exercise in my (limited) experience, so I'd say you're going well My first Lab would easily pick it up and bring it back, but couldn't understand this whole hold thing until I ask to take it. She finally got it when I broke the steps down. My 2nd Lab, well she wouldn't even pick it up in her mouth, only thing she'd take in her mouth was food (she wasn't even a toy kinda gal when I first got her). So I had to train the part you're trying to train now (which was weird for me, a dog that wouldn't pick a toy up off the ground?! ) I shaped the pick up of the dumbell using a clicker. If she showed interest in it, click/treat. If she touched it, C/T. If she licked it, C/T. If she put her mouth around it, C/T. Baby steps like that, working the criteria up until they are picking it up. I've gotten that far, now I'm working on her holding it for longer before she gets C/T - so far, not going too well Agree Ruby star Thats the way I did it as well, after having trouble, someone tried to "show" me how to do it by forcing her to hold it and it really did a lot of harm,Piri became really scared of it.Back chaining is the way to go with retrieving IMO.I was advised to reward her for just holding it in near me for a month and havnt looked back.Throwing it was the last step,I can now get 100mtr retrieves on the flat.In the bush its a different story she likes the ducks and rabbits better.
