Spoke to my OH, and he's still fine.. however on advice from my breeder he's being confined for the rest of the day. She's not too concerned, seems to think he probably just ate something he shouldn't but he's still off to the vet tonight for my piece of mind

My puppy carries on more if he's in the same room as us because he wants to get out and play. Needless to say he's in the lounge room now he's older

I'm probably quicker off the mark than most to seek vet advice on gastro BM but better safe than sorry, especially with a pup. This is day two, and the only way he wasn't going near the vet tonight was if it had improved.. so don't worry I'm not far behind you in those stakes

He's drinking like it's going out of fashion, which isn't unusual for him, he's always been a big water drinker since day one and his attitude is 110% normal. The vets can't fit him in this morning and as he's still drinking and pinging around the house like a mexican jumping bean they're happy to wait until tonight. They've said if there's any change in his attitude to go straight in though. There were only a few drops of blood last night, and none since. If he does another really bad poo, I'd not be waiting BM... if the water is going straight through him he'll be dehydrating. I'd want a PCV done on him ASAP. As a person who has had a dog go through two bouts of HGE, I don't take chances. Time matters. It doesn't sound like HGE but pups don't have much in reserve when it comes to the risks of dehydration. I'm about to ring the OH and tell him exactly that, take him straight in if he does another runny poo, as you're right the risk is too great even if he is still behaving normally. It's killing me being at work, all i want to do is be at home to watch him like a hawk To the point I'm seriously tempted to go home....

***The vet has been booked for tonight*** Bundy pup woke me up squealing at 1.30am yesterday to go outside to the loo. This is odd as he sleeps through unless I've been silly and given him too much water before bed. He proceeded to do 5 poops outside and you could hear them all they were that runny, and the smell He spent the day in the pen with no accidents but last night when he got let outside into the yard, he did 3 poos in the space of 5 minutes, green, sloppy and putrid smelling, it was a slap in the face for about 2hrs if you went outside, and there was a bit of blood on his bottom. We didn't give him any dinner just in case, and this morning he did pure green liquid poop... The smell is something else to behold, it's totally rank. He hasn't eaten anything that he shouldn't have to our knowlege as we've both been fanatical in picking things up lately. We changed his food close to a month ago now, surely it can't be the food as he's been fine until yesterday??? We have them on Proplan and our other dog is fine. He's still eating and drinking, but for a puppy who normally only poos once a day which are never like this, the red flag went up instantly. Has anyone else had similar recently? He's booked into the vet tonight but I'm not sure if I'm overreacting or not OH is home with him today, he's assured me he will watch him and check for poos when he's let out from his pen to go outside, but I'm still concerned.

I cover 3 out of 4 sides of Bundy's crate at night. Helps when we want to sleep in I can get him up for a pee, and put him back in the crate. if I don't cover it he'll whinge, but as soon as it's covered even in daylight he will sleep.

Change Cocker to Kelpie x and beagle to Viz puppy and that's this house.. Although, he hasn't tried again since he stole the leftover roast chook and got sin binned four times over it

Are you looking for a pup to show? lol...I think he mentioned he was looking for a dog to bread A dog to bread? Wow.. no wonder they're expensive if they turn into bread

I've only ever used the scissor type clippers but OH has just pulled two pairs out of the cupboard like this You squeeze them and the blade comes up and would I presume cut the nail. However I'm not sure how to use them Which way do i put them on the nail and how do I know how much to take off? I've never seen clippers like this and I'm worried I will stuff it up! I don't really want to leave them another two weeks until we go to the vets.

Breeder chooses the puppy and matches it to the family, although in my case we wanted a dog not a bitch and there was only one dog in the litter. He was mr chilled and now he's anything but
-
Our puppy did that the first few weeks to my partner and our other dogs tail(!). He would be shoved off OH's leg and corrected. The problem got worse when OH would laugh as Bundy would keep doing it, as soon as he stopped reacting it only took a few attempts for him to stop. When he would hump Diesel's leg we'd lift him off the tail as he'd be biting it (and Diesel can't feel his tail to know what's going on after an accident 2yrs ago) and correct him. If he continued then he went into his crate to calm down.

It's hit 40... The boys are inside with OH, most likely flaked out on the floor in front of the three fans going in the loungeroom. Otherwise the devil child is probably outside playing "digs" in his pool, but only for very short periods before he's forced back indoors. Our big black dog isn't allowed out the back in this heat because it's in the sun, he gets let out for toilets out the front in the shade. He's a bit dumb and would stay outside until he got heatstroke which we don't want. I'm in aircon and I'm NOT going outside until hometime! -
Take him outside. Is that a bowl of puppy milk in the photo? Are you also giving him water? He's very cute I like the idea of the plastic on the floor too..

I might cos it's only 10 mins from home.

Where Can I Get Cod Liver Oil?
Bundyburger replied to Bundyburger's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
bummer, pity i can't get there until next weekend Breeder said the chemists should have it but ours don't seem to. -
My breeder has recommended getting cod liver oil to put into our BARF mix to help puppy break down all the calcium in that and the bones that he is given. However I can't find it at any of our local chemists! Where can I get it or is there an alternative I can use?
-
Yeah I think thats what we're going to have to do I think ;) trick his wee little brain.. bring inside then back out you go We've been so eagle eyed this arvo that he's been really good.. he's also been wandering straight to the back door when let out of his crate for naps so he can go to the loo
-
We do wait long enough, he goes outside and pees, he just then comes in and does it again, it doesn't matter if we are out there for half an hour or an hour.. He only EVER does one pee outside each pee break.
-
Ahh fun.. the latest problem, take outside, do pees on command, stay outside, puppy does poops.. straight inside and pees all over the floor 5 minutes later... Yet if we stay outside longer he doesn't do it again outside.. only once we come back in. So frustrating.. he mainly does this when tired I think.. Sometimes I can let him in, go straight to the lounge and he'll squat and pee right next to me on the floor We start puppy school tonight so hopefully they have some ideas, as his latesthabits have the breeder and I stumped as we can't figure out why he's doing it.
