  1. Mine behave similarly before dinner is made, they don't seem traumatised by it though, they're excited and anticipating all the noms.
  2. Would it maybe be worth using an onshipper? Unfortunately most pet stuff here costs more for less than the USA! I'm finding this problem setting up my fish tank.
  3. Same. Although I noticed at a local store stocking the new proplan bags they had new promotional tins that only fitted tiny 2kg bags! Nooo. I love the tins I use one for a bin lol.
  4. Wow what suburb did you move from? Have you found everyone very friendly? Maybe we could meet up for a walk some time, we don't really know anyone up there. I'm so excited and very relieved to have multiple people give such good feedback. We've been living just out of Warragul for nearly a year, we were in south east suburbs before that. I love it here, we're just in town but lucked out with amazing neighbours and a really quiet street. I'm yet to meet many people as we've been super busy on weekends but the people i have met are lovely. There's a local dog shop too which is great. Drop me a PM and I'll pass on fb group details and stuff we've learnt already. Would definitely be up for a walk or something once you've moved.
  5. We just moved here a month ago too! No regrets. If you need anything just yell out, happy to share my discoveries so far. Mariki is amazing, my kelpie x had a tumour on his gum that we didn't know about, he flipped his lip over it two weeks ago so we took him straight in as he wouldn't let us fix it. Mariki was incredibly patient and calm even when he was growling his head off. When he went for surgery last week she had my partner stay with him to hold him for all the drips etc to be done. Then after surgery she called me for a good chat about it all, and was so pleased Diesel had stopped growling at everyone after surgery and gave her kisses. She is the first vet who has not freaked out at his grumbly nature when he's unhappy, and she just took her time rather than playing stacks on the vet nurses. I'll be using her from now on. The prices are on par with Melbourne and procedure costs are actually quite cheap.
  6. You've just reminded me, I'd love an Aussie terrier! Wow really? So few people know of them or want one these days so sadly they're on the decline as a breed. I could never live without one, two or a hundred!! Yes, I knew one as a kid, she was awesome. Just need to convince the other half!
  7. You've just reminded me, I'd love an Aussie terrier!
  8. Mini poodle, mini schnauzer, cocker spaniel, and westie. Mini foxies are on my want list too but they'll be my next dog after our kelpie x and vizsla.
  9. I don't give water when I crate mine, they don't drink overnight unless we are on holidays at the beach.
  10. I'm sorry, I think it's time. If he can't walk, stand or toilet himself, the quality of life just isn't there. It's not fair on him or you. He is lucky to have such a devoted owner, he's had good innings.
  11. My vizsla is a ridgeback because he had his hackles up after being rushed by another dog while walking.he's also an oversize staffy.. he's a small v but really?!
  12. The only food my boy can eat is proplan sensitive or supercoat sensitive. Beef makes him scratch and so does grass. September - April he's basically housebound or on steroids . Not sure how he'll go this year with our house move.
  13. Did you try the club in Morwell? Warragul dog obedience out of Darnum has a good reputation (family have gone there), they might suit you but its a 45 min run down the fwy. There's one more but i can't think of it.
  14. Yikes! My boy is back to normal now, more cheerful than he's been in a while. No fever and his appetite is back. Started the other two on meds yesterday too but they're not showing symptoms right now.
  15. Interesting. Strong possibility due to the location of the pond. Another pooch is under the weather today too so we'll be looking at removing the pond and putting the fish in a tank. Its a free standing pond and a pain to clean easily anyway.
  16. His tummy played up again so we went to the vets. Suspected giardia from the fishpond. If the meds work we need to treat the other two dogs. If he doesn't improve we need poop samples to narrow it down
  17. Back to his usual self toda thank goodness! He got a very small dinner yesterday or else you'd think he was being starved. Why the acv westiemum? Haven't heard that before but I always have some.
  18. This time last year my dog got a stomach bug after a surgery. He ended up on antibiotics for a while which helped. Symptoms the past few days are pointing to him having another bug. Lethargy and sleeping lots, he's pooped in our bed, and done sloppy and disgustingly smelly ones in the house despite having outside access which is the same as last year. Hes also been eating lots of grass then vomiting. He's still eating fine and his energy levels were back to normal today but his guts definitely aren't. We've moved rurally now so the earliest vet appointment i can get to fit around work will be Thursday and given his energy is normal and he's eating fine it doesn't seem an emergency. Are there any home remedies I can try in the meantime?
  19. I'm guessing the OP means something like aloveen leave in conditioner which is recommended to be slathered onto dry skin and left on. It worked wonders on our dog. I third adfing fish oil or similar to his diet.
  20. You've already been advised against either breed by both owners and people familar with the breeds. A few months isn't going to alter opinions. As an owner of two vizslas i do believe my original reply was a big emphatic no, and it hasn't changed. If you want either breed you'd need to rethink your living arrangements.
  21. Ive got weatherbeeta but I'm thinking i need to invest in a chilly dog for one this year!
  22. No she didn't, you might want to reread her post. She actually provided more details about the dog.
  23. It's the time of year where bees and wasps hang around. I wouldn't be too concerned unless you see an excessive number or a hive. My dog chases flies, he got stung by a bee once, and wasn't stupid enough to do it again.
  24. Exactly. All the vizsla breeders I know are very cautious about the homes their dogs to and they match them very carefully. Honesty is key.
