  1. I've sent you a message on FB with an idea Em
  2. Considering he's just come off a plane, it's not surprising he's stressed at being in the crate, particularly if he's not already crate trained. I agree you should leave the door open. Don't do too much too soon or he'll start to be scared of the crate... Give him a day or so to settle a bit more IMHO.. but then I can't talk, my pup came crate trained
  3. Thommo, sounds similar to what our kelpie had. We think it originally started from a bite.. He was on antibiotics, steroids and anti inflamatories. After about a week or so, there was no improvement, so we booked him straight in to have it removed. The steroids did however stop the size increasing further. His thankfully wasn't quite that large, but it turned out to be a harmless 'button" tumour and it's not unusual for it to appear as quickly as it did in our case. As it was on his leg, and it happened so quickly, we didn't want to leave it.. it was a case of remove first, deal with what it is later. I hope it turns out to be something simple like this for your boy.
  4. Not really practical if you're gone during the day and overnight... doggie will be too hot during the day... In my case coats are just velcroed on tug toys
  5. I like that idea... i wonder if i can talk OH into it.. although it'll be almost as messy as stuffing/bed everywhere if my boy is anything to go by. I think i'll need to nail his blankets in the kennel!
  6. Hmm I guess everyone is different? I see heaps of breeders writing that they update each week etc. We havnt really heard anything, just when the litter arrived, how many pups and the colours. We did get told that she would contact us when the litter arrived and go from there. They will be 5 weeks soon so we are hoping for some sort of update or info. Kind of just going with the flow. When did you know that you would be getting your puppy? Some stay in touch, some don't.. We got an email to find out we were on the list, then we got one when the pups were born... then that was it in terms of emails until it came to finalising who was getting which pup and organising transport. She did put weekly photos on her website, and was contactable via facebook at times... At first it upset me a bit, but then i thought hang on, raising pups isn't easy and takes a lot of time, so it's not surprising she didn't reply. However, once pups came home.. she was always ready at the end of the phone, email or facebook.. i still share updates even now nearly 2yrs on
  7. A paw firm Lalaaaa Bundy is not allowed another collar!
  8. Call the emergency vet.. but from personal experience, albeit bigger dogs, i wouldn't be too concerned unless he started to act sick.
  9. Ours do two on the cheap stuff... the good stuff it's 3-4for the first few weeks, then they go to 2...
  10. You were meant to get a report when they left.. but you didn't.. that on it's own is a reason for a please explain, even moreso for a dog with injuries she didn't have when she arrived. They surely should be able to give some information!!
  11. How old were your dogs when they started sleeping in crates and do the crates live in your bedroom or somewhere else? Our youngest is crated, he's been in it from day one. His crate is in our room, next to the door. He's nearly 2, and we've started letting him stay 'out' on weekends. He doesn't like being on the floor on the mat, wants to be on the bed... so he eventually cracks the sads and puts himself in his crate They go to bed when we go... B into his crate and D to his mat at the foot of the bed. B knows he gets on the bed for cuddles, then when we say 'bedtime' and one of us gets up to put him away, he'll hop off and go to his crate.. but if we don't get up then he won't move. Some nights if we go to bed really late, he'll go to his crate and wait for us to shut the door. If we don't shut it he won't stay in... I don't even lock it anymore, he just feels 'safe' with it shut
  12. Just know that you've left him with someone who will look after him as well as you do, and it's only a few days :D We're leaving our two behind in June when we go away, and it's the second time i'll have left him in nearly 2 years :D I know he'll be spoilt rotten though and will be allowed to sleep on the bed without us around
  13. You should be taking him to toilet every half an hour at least, no wonder he's going inside if you're leaving him 'every hour to every few hours', thats far too long for a baby.
  14. I wouldn't be waiting until tomorrow to take her to the vet, I'd take her tonight. Sounds like she's had a stroke or something. If it was my dog, she'd have been at the vet the second they opened. Poor girl.
  15. My two will run to the back door to go out and roll.. plus they know they can't stay inside while wet, but they don't do zoomies. The'll just sit in the sun til they dry.
  16. Exactly PF. If she hadn't taken the pup.. she'd be getting flamed for that too!!
  17. My gosh, what a combo! She sounds beautiful... and like she has similar markings to our kelpie!! Good luck with her.
  18. She'll be fine if it's an enclosed verandah, that's where B sleeps at my mums when it's warmer. Mums partner is a 'dogs stay outside' person too. We compromised the first few times, and he slept crated in the laundry. Now he sleeps outside in his crate, with a bazillion blankets and a coat and stays nice and warm. We dont hear a peep until it's time to get up in the morning. It SUCKS and i hate having him outside all the time, but that's the rules... at my mums, and the inlaws.. we just make sure that the dogs are comfortable and warm, and I just try not to sulk! It would be really nice to not worry about it, but that's life, so you just have to adjust and find compromise. We'll either use a dog sitter, or get BIL to stay if we need to leave them, but as a rule they come with us and we respect that they can't come inside like they do at home.
  19. We've been chased down the street more than once, and the owners just laugh when you yell at them to get their dog.. So lucky mine is friendly!! Now I'll drive 5 mins to a massive park and let him run offlead down there instead!
  20. Our dogs get 5 minutes to eat, if they don't it's fair game. When our youngest was small he got 15 mins though. He didn't eat for the first week he came home. Now he eats like a champ. Be lethal. Take it away and do NOT give in.. your dog won't starve if it doesn't eat for a day or two, some people just don't feed their dogs for one day a week because they think it's good for them. He will eat if he's really hungry.. but he knows he has you wrapped around his paw, and if he goes on a strike, you give him the good stuff.
  21. Where's the footage of the dog being reunited with its owner? Lucky dog
