Best Way To Get Dog Hair Off The Couch!
Pollywaffle replied to Squidgy's topic in General Dog Discussion
if it's like our house..then it's their couch anyway, so please don't interfere! -
that's lovely news for both you, Mantis and your very fortunate 'new' pooch...here's to a happy and lasting friendship
-
I'm sorry, but the only 'animals' involved in this story were the two footed ones. I can only imagine what legacy they will leave behind them; dread to think.
-
sorry, not brilliant with that sort of advice but I wanted to say how it cheers me to see people going that extra mile for their dogs..not just offloading when something else comes up. I know that people often have mitigating circumstances for doing this, but some choose this option cos it's easiest..so good on you for taking the extra effort to have your dog with you, wherever you are.

so far, your responses seem to support my theory..i.e no men yet
-
I think I have been making an assumption about this forum for too long now..I actually thought that most of the forum members were women..probably coz I’m one !! But I just read a response in a thread and the person acknowledged that they were a man..and I was thrown. Isn’t it interesting and telling, that I associate dog ownership/care-giving to be a predominantly female activity...I really must apologise for the stereotyping and also, apologise to all those male dog lovers/owners out there...whoever you are?

Reason #47253 Not To Own A Malinois
Pollywaffle replied to Nekhbet's topic in General Dog Discussion
she looks as good as gold..I can't, honestly see what all the fuss is about (!!) -
Without sounding trite, OH and I didn't choose our dogs, they chose us. I can honestly say that there was no conscious effort to get a dog on the days that we did. Admittedly our boy was a shop bought (when we knew no different) but our girl was bought with almost no forethought other than to pursue through the breeding channels. I often say (and not wishing to appear overtly religious)..ours were 'God Given'! I should also say, having the two now, I would never want anything bigger than mine..I like dogs that fit nicely on my lap!

My parents live in Gladstone and we often rent a place at Burrum Heads as a half way stopping off point. Burrum heads has a reasonable beach, off lead before 7am and after 4pm (from memory)..and not too far from Hervey Bay. Not quite what you're looking for, but thought I would mention.

lovely..bit like my two..I could watch them for hours...love Charlie's eyes...such intent!
-
I often wake up facing my little boy's backside..not the nicest thing to see of a first thing! Mind you, it's that or my OH!!

Introducing Peaches & Beau
Pollywaffle replied to Perfumed Lillium's topic in General Dog Discussion
my boy maltese is eight, has always hated the rain, but he goes outside and has survived! I know they're precious, but don't make them too precious! -
all the best for your little one Destroya.

Introducing Peaches & Beau
Pollywaffle replied to Perfumed Lillium's topic in General Dog Discussion
I can see why you would be in love Perfume Lillium..they are both lovely. I'm not an expert, so won't say, other than they are very cute! -
Bailey certainly looks bright eyed and bushy-tailed..literally. Definitely a dog on the mend..how wonderful.
-
It's probably a bit out there, but whether they are capable of feeling our equivalent of 'love' - with the human interpretation of the word - especially for their human 'owners'. Not sure if pure science could reach that far, but I'd love to know.

Are People Rude Or Am I Too Sensitive?
Pollywaffle replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
my boy is post 8 now...and I am so loving his increasingly venerable status...I am proud that he is such a wonderful animal, whose energy is not remotely curbed by his increasing years...I try to model myself on him, although in dog years he's now (finally) overtaken me! -
I'm afraid that swimming would have to involve water (!!) ..my two wouldn't approve of that!
-
If only! But with a track record like that, no one wanted him. Plenty of other nice dogs who are not escape artists also get put down every week all round the country. It's a damn sad world, the thought that so many perfectly good natured dogs are destroyed every week really depresses me, animals....especially dogs are treated as a disposable commodity and that is sooo unfortunate, some people have no conscience Perfumed Lillium Most if not all of us on this forum share your sentiments and feel how you do...anger at a world that treats dogs and/other animals as a commodity; nothing more.
-
he's beautiful...are you keeping him?
-
we literally had to replace our one year old carpet with tiles, when my girl took to pooing/peeing on them..my theory, it was nice and cosy (and in winter, warm) on her backside. You want to be comfortable doing these things don't you!
-
poor little boy...you can only imagine (reluctantly) what he was subjected to before you came into his life Staffyluv.
-
I have actually reached a point in my life where I will not go near/by a petshop..the whole set-up makes me feel so angry and sad...sad for the animals and angry at man's desire to make money - at the expense of those unable to defend themselves... got that off my chest...another pedlar in misery going out of business is a happy event for me!

because of my dissatisfaction of all the other vet surgeries in the locale..this one isn't much better, but compared with the others.....
