OH and I sleep in our dogs' bed.
-
I would love to think I was capable of making the ultimate sacrifice and saving my two, or putting my life in danger by staying with them..but in reality, who knows..I hear the will to self-survive is very strong so...hopefully I'm never put in that predicament.

totally agree.

aren't we lucky that most of us have found the wonderful secret that is a dog..if only others could see what we do... Birthday wishes to the very handsome Fergus.

Ditto...and to this day I can clearly see the event unfold...and that was over 30 years ago...
-
I have no experience so cannot advise...but what a sad situation. I hope you both come out of it the better.

I think I've just had a cuteness overload...

What Do You Do To Prolong Your Dog's Life?
Pollywaffle replied to Blackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I guess I work with the same approach as I do to humans..I remember one of my nans ate incorrectly, never exercised, smoked, drank and lived to her late 80s...but she never had any real stress and was loved.. now I'm not advocating that a dog should drink or smoke (!)....but the loving and stress avoidance bits are something we give our dogs in droves..seems to be working so far! -

TigerJack..your story is lovely..your little boy was meant to be. -
How lovely for you both..here's to a long and fulfilling relationship

Unfortunately it's not just about who has better credentials to care for the dogs, it's also about love and what your soon to be ex has emotionally outlayed on both dogs..this is the bigger consideration and one I think that needs discussion with your (soon to be) ex....sorry.

I know I'm like one of those unbearable mothers who thinks their child is gifted/wonderful...the only difference is, I know that my little girl (pom x) is adorable/cute/clever/talented/funny...now all I have to do is make everyone else see it!

more photos please! -
wherever possible, I always try to acknowledge other dogs and their owners; not only do I sometimes feel a kindred spirit with the owner (we're in on the secret of how fab dogs are), I also want to acknowledge the fact that another person cares enough about their dog to walk it/take it to the vet etc...acts of love towards dogs by owners and others is something I want to encourage.

Irresponsible People In Dog And Animal World.
Pollywaffle replied to LisaCC's topic in General Dog Discussion
not all teachers like children; not all doctors love people..some are born this way and sometimes, interaction with animals/humans can prompt this attitude.. we can't generalise. -
well, there are some horror stories here..certainly puts third world hunger in perspective, doesn't it.... :)

A slightly off target story...my little girl has been wearing an elizabethan collar (scatched nose) for a while..anyway, I am forever taking it off and cleaning it (disinfecting it)...so the other day I looked down and she had two brown nobbly bits on the edge of the collar, size of a five cent piece, and not thinking, I wiped them off with my fingers...yep..you guessed it...poo! Lovely!
-
there's a lot of smarts in her eyes and she's gorgeous..
-
our endless love and devotion and ...new collars.

Well I Didn't Think Of That One!

It's like my two have hidden reserves...can take them out the back garden and they'll do their business..then five minutes later we'll take them for a walk and literally within a minute one, or both of them is/are either pooing or peeing...where does all the extra come from? Glad we're not alone!
