Which Breeds Do You Wish Were In Australia?
shapeshifter replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
The Silken Windhound is just gorgeous, a whippet with hair, who knew :D -
I'd love for it to be true, I have been diagnosed with depression previously, I have anxiety and I'm gluten intolerant, I'd love to have a ruling where I can have a dog no matter where I rent and I can take it anywhere I like :D I'm wondering if I can have a dog taught to recognise migraines, that would be genius and would make my life easier, means I could get home before it hits.

'Throughout Australia, gluten is generally treated as an allergen under Standard 1.2.3 of the Food Standards Code. In accordance with this code, a food business must declare the presence of gluten in any food product, and claiming a food to be ‘gluten-free’ stipulates that it may not contain any detectible traces of gluten according to standard 1.2.7.' Above from here At present it is anything up to 20ppm is considered gluten free. Celiac groups are asking for that to change as they say that there are people out there that still react to lower levels.
-
I've just seen though a Celiac page that there are gluten detecting dogs. I know dogs are amazing but sealed containers and walking through a supermarket where products are next to each other. http://youtu.be/LjJp1VI1QLo Is this for real or is it another case of the fake labelled depression dogs (I mean the ones that don't have any supporting documentation to prove they have been diagnosed) for people that just want to take their dogs everywhere?

Passive Smoking Causes Cancer In Cats & Dogs
shapeshifter replied to silentchild's topic in In The News
I wonder if breeders will add this to their reasons why someone can't have one of their dogs, how would they prove it though? -
Are you planning on paying them?

Metford to Medowie is like 20 minutes away, she's one very very bad breeder from the sounds of it all. Irrawang & Thornton Veterinary Hospitals are very good vets, there is a clinic in Raymond Terrace, if you find the vet you go to is not sufficient. Your little one sounds like he's had a rocky start but you are doing really well.

"pet Only" - Not Registered Litters
shapeshifter replied to CountryGirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm pretty sure there are plenty of registered breeders out that that don't believe that dogs should be restricted when it comes to breeding. This means that there will be litters that are not registered but they are not unethical or irresponsible breeders. They will not tell you their names or prefixes as they don't want to be punished for something they find ridiculous and may hamper their breeding programs (there are dogs out there that only produce 1 pup each time). -
2 years is also a fair amount of time, the breeder could very well be registered now even though they weren't back then.

I've asked on the FB page about sales or shipping in Australia, I'll let you know what they say. -

denali, it will stay with you forever and most people are guilt ridden forever not knowing if they held onto them for too long. Well a lot of people are. I had to put my own dogs down and in both cases I just can't move on and I feel very very guilty about my first, I held on too long and he suffered for it, my BF's parents had his dog put down last night, he was there when I had my second done and he feels he can't go through it again, so it's all too fresh right now.

Heads Up More Breed Specific Legislation On The Table
shapeshifter replied to Steve's topic in General Dog Discussion
Spot on cav, what breeders/breed clubs have got to start realising is that they are in danger of no longer being in control of their breeds, once it's in the legal system, it will be unlikely to ever come out again. -

Definitely, make them better before they tell you, you can't breed them at all. -
Sometimes all it comes down to is 'what the heart wants', there is a photo going around facebook of a golden retriever x dachshund, there would be so many things wrong with that cross BUT how many people would see it and go 'ohhhh soooo cute, I want' regardless of what their brain says about 'wrong'.

Exactly SG

Ummm I asked the question, I'm not a breeder, I'm not a shower, I'm a 'possible' just like the OP.
-
Why on earth do people answer a question with vague comments? If you think that there are breeds that answer the question why don't you say so? Seriously breeders wonder why they get a bad name when they are continually doing shit like this. People want genuine answers, answers they can use for research not 'oh there are but I'm not going to tell you' answers!!!
