So tired of these threads, not you Perfume, of the breeders who get all up in arms that a puppy breeder dare question them, or not love just one breed, or want a puppy now, or aren't perfect. You know you all started somewhere and none of you are perfect no matter how much you think you all are, the way you come off on DOL is the reason why no one dares mention DOL outside of DOL, a lot of breeders and dog owners hate this forum and you are all proving the exact reason why!

This was my exact comment last night when I was discussing our options with my BF. I am dead against buying from a BYB or pet shop BUT I might be left with no other choice due to a few things that don't concern us because we are not idiots and are responsible but probably would concern breeders who want the 'perfect' every single part of a persons life and home!

Perfume, just wanted to say that I'm another one that has several breeds in mind, I love all dogs, (I've had a Tenterfield Terrier, Kelpie x, Lab x, 5th generation Mastiff cross Ridgeback, my BF has had a German Shepard, German Short Haired Pointer x 3) and there are characteristics within all the breeds I've narrowed my search down to that I love, there are also things I want the dog to have that is more of a temperament choice rather than a breed choice although it does play some part. I'm not a single breed lover and I don't expect to be judged for that and not offered a puppy due to not being a diehard x lover and that's all I'll have my whole life, that's just not reality for me. I don't have human children and never will, my dogs have always been extremely important to me and for the most part come everywhere with me, I've always done puppy school and then obedience at dog clubs, I hope to extend that to agility with my next dog. Don't accept things that you find uncomfortable, find someone that is as comfortable with you as you are with them, it may mean that your puppy might not appear right now but they will appear sooner or later, don't give up and ignore the people that feel they have a right to tell you to suck it up or don't get a puppy!

again, INTERSTATE breeder! Being interstate should be more reason to offer up a photo of yourself though.

Brain Scans Reveal What Dogs Really Think Of Us
shapeshifter replied to Tempus Fugit's topic in General Dog Discussion
LOL actually I'd debate the horse part, my mare when startled has always been 'in my lap' so to speak. What I love from all these breakthroughs is that dog owners now have science to back up what we already know. -
Does Anyone Leave Aircon On For Their Dogs?
shapeshifter replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
The gas fireplace is definitely where it can come from, you should make sure you read and ask questions about it if you aren't aware of it, they can be very dangerous if not looked after and cleaned/inspected regularly. I reckon the aircon mob are trying to do a shifty thing and scare people into buying a split system, more sales for them. -

Are you sure you don't mean carbon monoxide poisoning? Sorry, yes, that's the one - my brain wasn't working this morning. I got a letter warning about it from my aircon people. No problems LOL On a serious note though, do you have a gas heater? There is no such thing as carbon monoxide coming from air conditioners. -

Are you sure you don't mean carbon monoxide poisoning? Air cons don't produce CO. I don't think they produce CO2 either. No I wasn't talking about aircons producing either, I was asking if they meant carbon monoxide not carbon dioxide has they were talking about all sorts of electrical devices not just aircon! -
Does Anyone Leave Aircon On For Their Dogs?

I used to leave the aircon on permanently in the few years before my dog died, she had fluid on her lungs and although controlled by medication was still helped by not being hot. I guess for me the price of the bill didn't outweigh the benefits for my dog. -

Have you got a long wide hallway, or similar area? You could get one of those contraptions that spit balls out, he can learn to put it back in and it spits it out again, over and over and over :)

I met a group of ladies that have Border Terriers and they all do it. You'll see many of them on the Earthdog page I put the link up for. Any dog can actually do it, it's more got to do with who can compete.

I've been researching for years now and it's not odd, I would like to give showing a try maybe and I've been told it'll be easier for me because I actually want a dog and not a bitch. I've had both and as much as I loved my girl I really really want a dog this time. I've seen plenty of ads of all sorts of breeds where dogs are priced lower than bitches. I think people also have the impression that dogs will pee all over the place as well as the 'you can't scratch their belly without touching their penis', people are weird, I used to scratch my dogs belly all the time, it's no different, you just tend to go either side when scratching length ways. Oh there is also that thing about 'if it doesn't turn out you can always breed them' mentality. It's huge in horse circles and people have the same idea when they get into dogs.

I never saw this, but if you go here https://www.facebook.com/groups/199642780095392/?fref=ts they do it all. Australians have lumped it all under Earth Dog. The difference here is that we don't really have barns like they do overseas so they concentrate more on the outside things. There are people that have access to barns though so are training their dogs specifically for it.

YES to all of the above, no mention of the breed, website is 10 years out of date, this is A LOT of websites, or they have 3 different websites and none of them are current, no photos or tiny ones that you can't see anything in, websites that you can't read because there are so many things flashing at you or it's black with fluro fonts. All of the above and their ad on DOL is newly updated as they have put the date of when the pups were born.

Ask D O L The Decider Of All Things In Life
shapeshifter replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Neither but picked 1, the teeth and stance in the second one give a slightly evil/off look. -
Margaret Giles has always been recommended to me, she's near Bathurst, NSW and was the first to breed Lagottos in Australia. I've also seen some of her dogs and have liked them. https://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/member.asp?name=TARTUFO

People have to understand that manufacturing will no longer be done in Australia for almost everything, no business can afford wages as high as ours are when they have to compete with other companies who pay for cheaper wages and can sell products cheaper. We may not like it but we do have to accept it, now is the time to be looking at what can be done well here, like medical breakthroughs that are found here but always end up going straight to America or other countries to be developed. Maybe stop selling all the crops to biofuel companies and instead developing more food here, to be exported, farming is what we are good at.

Please tell me where you got this pic It looks like someone placed the snake there. Electric fences don't work if you don't put some water around the earth stake either, so I'm not surprised people say they don't work if they don't remember to do it.

I completely believe it's possible, although I don't think I'd call it autism. I swear my horse has a horse version of ADD.

I was driving home the other afternoon and the road I use crosses a main road, lots of traffic always, there was this guy walking away from the main road, set of traffic lights, with two beagles, he had a leash in his hand but they were about 10 metres in front of him! I just looked and shook my head, I had to drive past them and was just imagining them getting a whiff of something and running out onto the road.

I was always told that time of the month is the perfect time to train a dog, no idea if it's true :)

Budweiser Responsible Drinking Commercial

 Just thinking about the ones that never end their waiting -
Checked last night, they don't have litter until the end of the year. Please reconsider your 'right now' approach, a dog is for life not just a whim purchase.

They obviously didn't import to enhance their lines, from $3000 for a pup from the imported line!
