My favorite breed is the Staffordshire Bullterrier, I have wanted one ever since I was 10 years old, a friend had one and I just loved the big dopey grin and boof head , but my Mum would never let me get one as we already had a dog (whippet/kelpie/ACD cross) and she was a terror and very possessive of my mum so she was worried that there could be problems with adding another dog and also considering that she would escape and go wandering teach the new pup bad habits. When she was hit by a car and had to be PTS we never got another dog for a few years, and then when I was 21 mum told me of a guy who she knew through works male SBT had sired a litter so she said I could get a dog or have a 21st party. I chose the dog ever since then I have never not had a stafford and I don't think I could ever not have one in my home. But I would love to get a French Bulldog and a Malinois one day to go with the stafford, well when I win lotto and am able to buy some nice big property out of the burbs ETA for got to say

That website is a crack up thanks greymate you have made my day, looks like they do love their doggies though just a very cheesy website, love the guy in the singlet showing off how beefcake he is (all I could think about was cartman in that weightgain 4000 ep on southpark) . Think I am going to have to steal their bathtub idea though that was pretty cool

ahhh ok so you can drill down better on the stats that makes sense.
-
As a rough percentange how many dog bite incidents that are reported result in the offending dog actually being sighted by the council and able to be scanned? Would it be simple 80/20 rule (seems to work for most things) I think its a great idea, but will you still always have the argument that the stats are distorted because there are many dog incidents that are reported but the dog is never sighted/scanned by the authorities? None the less it surely is better than the current way of reporting.

I will definitely be working up to that, at the moment getting her to stand at all is a challenge though! ahh yeah good point Lol. Forgot to mention that early on I would make the cue then put my hand under her belly and once standing would lightly scratch her side seemed to work lol. When she would go to sit would lead off with my left foot and do the cue again. Should have a disclaimer though that whilst she stands it's usually in front of me. For the life of me I can't get her to stay by my side lol.

apologies if this has been mentioned already, I misread things sometimes but have you tried using a stand hand command when you are walking along just before you are about to stop. I use an open hand in front of jessies nose in a right to left motion and say stand, it took a little while but now she will do it without me saying anything just the hand cue.

Gold Coast City Council You Make Me Sick!
J.H.M replied to Baz+Rome's topic in General Dog Discussion
I stay out of the BSL debates for the most part for the reason that I am not the most rational being when I get wound up, I wouldn't last very long on here or do the reputations of responsible AST, SBT & APBT folk any favours by going on a rant edit sorry left out APBT -

unbelievable...... better not say what I am thinking or I will likely get banned other than GCCC are a bunch of trecherous swine -
Such a lovely story, I love the pic of hector with the little kids in the introduced to hector link, just love the big dopey smile on his face. If there is a god I really do hope when Vick's time comes to meet his maker he his put through the hell that these poor dogs endured

Sorry but the moment you came on here spouting off garbage about SBT's origins you gave everyone the right to take the piss as I am sure you are doing to us
-
in your "considered opinion" of course, Jackij a friend of yours?
-
hehehe I love fake accounts , I wonder who jackij belongs to
-
Jessie yawns and flicks her tongue when you tickle her back feet inbetween the pads of the foot my other stafford used to do this too wonder if its just a weird staffy thing or a dog thing in general ;)

the guy did look a bit unhinged when he was barking I got a good chuckle out of it too, but then again I fear I am stuck in a perpetual state of arrested development

another one here for the K9 rubber grib long line I have the 10m one its really good everyone needs to have one of these
-
Same here won't buy from a pet shop that sell puppies/kittens, but its kind of a bummer where I live because there is a great store that sells a great range of snake stuff and roo tails and the like, oh well that is the price of having principles I guess

Justice For Tango.supreme Court 29th March Brisbane

So I was watching Monk on tv the other night crap show but thats another topic, anyways they had this chess player guy who was basically playing the cops for fools and he made a comment about a chess move called "poison pawn" where basically the player places the pawn that is too much of a temptation for the other player not to take then wham check mate, and it got me thinking after reading the transcript and other comments about how the council conceded that the 3 points about breed id, training of officers etc was flawed, thereby virtually daring the chivers legal team to push their evidence from Brashears and Harvey (surely the council barristers had this evidence long before the trial started), now maybe I am just getting so jaded with the world and am very cynical but it really does seem to me that the barristers for the council played the chivers legal team. Dirty pool yes to pull it out at the last minute but hardly surprises me as we don't live in a fair and equitable society. I am not pro BSL, I hate living in a nanny state where everything needs to be regulated and no one is made to have any accountablity for their own actions but unfortunately society proves time and time again that we are not ready for all of the freedoms that we take for granted. I really do hope that some sense can be made and 10's of thousands of dogs are not caught in this rubbish law. Personally if I was the head of dogs QLD I would be looking after my members first, win that fight, then work for the unregistered dogs. Sad fact is that dogs QLD main aim is to promote the betterment of purebreed registered dogs. -
Staffordshire Bull Terrier Puppy Eating Texters
J.H.M replied to Budd's topic in General Dog Discussion
with Jessie anything above head height when standing on her back legs was fair game to her when she was a puppy, so as stated above keep stuff that has any value to you out of harms way -
http://www.cccq.org.au/ its on their website

Sorry to hear what happened to you little one but like everyone else has said, it could have been any breed, my stafford girl nearly had a piece taken out of her by some mongrel at a dog park when she was a puppy, the silly girl that bought the dog in knew that the dog was aggressive too but still continued to bring him in. He actually jumped shoulder height at my friend who picked my girl Jessie up and mouthed her you could see the spit where she tried to grab Jessie, he swiftly gave the dog a clip after it grabbed his hand after missing Jessie. We quickly packed up and left when she was standing there telling my friends dog to "bash up her own dog to teach him a lesson". Ahhh Caboolture you have to love the place :D

For the legal eagles on DOL how does it work if council loses and a Supreme court judge rules that an amstaff is not an APBT, does that basically make BSL's future as far as AST's anywhere in Australia a non event as the precedent has been set?
