we asked our vet today as Buster went for his 3rd injection and he recommended around 6 months which is in another 3 months for Buster. There seems to be many different opinions on her and other sites, but I think we will go with the advice of the vet

really? i must say that i haven't done as much research as I would have liked but fillers wasn't something that I thought it was it was bad for. It was recommended by the breeder below are the ingredients, which are the fillers in it? I used to rate Euk but during the irradiation scare last year it became public that some years earlier the company had been sold to Menu Foods so instead of being a dedicated premium food producer now it belongs to the same multinational who added melamine to animal foods and export it to us and baby food in China - killing babies. Sad isn't it. actually I think you will find that there dry food is all still manufactured inhouse and not subcontracted out. Some of the Eukanuba-brand wet foods sold in North America are manufactured by Menu Foods Income Fund of Ontario, Canada (source wiki)

what do people think of Eukanuba. This is what the breeder fed and recommended. We haven't had any problems with it and he loves it. We do give him raw food ever second or third day for some variety. getting near the end of the 20kg bag we bought when we got him so not sure to stay on it or not

does anyone feed Eukanuba? this is what our breeder fed and recommended and our lab loves it ( though he is a lab , he loves eating dirt also!! :D ) We do give him mince a few times a week and also brisket bones. He has now taken to completely demolish the bones also ie crush and eat them. At first I was really worried that he was swallowing the bones but I sit there and watch him and he just pulverizes them with his teeth and hasn't seemed to have any issues coming out the back end so I'm guessing its alright.

Buster scoffed 4 chocolate mud cake muffins down - paper and all - when he was about 10 weeks. Vet said to bring him down and he gave an injection to induce vomiting and then he was fine after that.

Welcome Mick. I too have a lab who is now 13 weeks. I was i the same position as you, had dogs as a kid, but others had all the responsibility, I just fed them now and then and played with him, so yes its different but lots of fun! There are plenty of ppl here who can give you some great advise. As I'm a newbie too, i'll try and add my two cents worth in for what I can.... We did outside from day one. first couple of days were harder, then we got him into a routine and after 2 weeks, we didnt have to get up to him at all and wake anywhere between 6 - 8am and that is not to his protest, just the time we wake. There are plenty of ppl here who crate train so im sure they can give advise on this. I asked this almost exact question today to our trainer who came in for our first lesson. We have Buster as an outside dog but will let him when he is older and in once we have trained him more and mastered toileting etc. The Trainer said this can all be done, but they must get some basics down pat before you can like sit, stay come drop etc. That way they can come in go straight to there spot/mat/cushion and stay till you want them to go out or they need to go out. As long as there are no unknown dogs who roam your yard, then there is no reason for why your puppy shouldn't be allowed in your yard assuming its puppy proof or as close to as you can humanly make it !! The not taking them out till after all there vaccinations is out to where other unknown dogs have roamed and therefore could have contaminated the area. You want your puppy to have the immunity for those nasty virus's like Parvo before he gets into area like that. there are also differing views on the risk of doing so vs the lack/later socialisation but that's probably another topic. We did what was comfortable for us, which was wait till he had his shots. Our breeder told us that for 12 months they dont need any more exercise than yard play. We didnt stick to that and take him for short walks ( 15 mins max atm) Wow 3 weeks off, that would be great!! I was only thinking the other day that Buster has so many toys, yet he too gets bored. We have now taken to rotating his toys. eg he might have 20 different toys, we might put half of them away and then swap them out every couple of days or change a few over, this seems to keep him more interested, but still doesn't prevent some chewing of the outdoor furniture!! go visit the Labrador thread in the Breed Sub forums Here . We took this advise from your goodself Mrs Tornsock ( waking him around 4am to toilet him) We did it for 2 weeks and after that Buster has been great in the morning ( we've had him for 4 weeks now). He takes his last pit stop anywhere between 9:30pm and 11:00pm depending on when my wife wants to come to bed. During the week I wake anywhere between 6 -7:30 for work and I get myself moving get a cuppa then go out and take him down the yard for a play. He has usually already been down there as there is a couple of piles waiting for me to pick up, but he normally does a wee again, we play and then I get his brecky ready. We obviously keep him outside, and no longer enclose his den and this seems to work really well for us. We have had 1 or 2 occasions where he must have done a wee on the deck but thats no big deal. On the weekend we've even be able to sleep till 8 before I've woken up , not to Buster making a racket, more me feeling guilty i haven't got up to him
